“After all that cake, you might have to call me White Beard for a while.
The Slice of Cake is a furniture item acquired by being the first player to talk to the Party Girl during a Party that occurred by random chance at dawn. Player-initiated Parties (caused by a Party Center), or the Party initiated at the creation of Celebrationmk10 or Get fixed boi worlds will not cause her to give players the Slice of Cake.
Placing and pressing ⚷ Open / Activate on the Slice of Cake grants the Sugar Rush buff, which grants +20% movement speed and +20% mining speed. This lasts for 2 minutes, but can be canceled at any time by right-clicking the icon (), by selecting the icon using Cycle Next/Previous Buff and then pressing Remove Buff (), or by double-tapping the buff icon ().
Unlike equipment buff items, the Slice of Cake must be placed in order to activate the buff. It can be mined with a pickaxe or drill and picked up again, even while the buff is active, which will not cancel the buff. Placement is only dependent on an adequate space of 2×2 tiles being available.
Notes
- The Slice of Cake can be activated limitlessly with no cooldown period. It is never consumed, and all players may use it to give themselves the buff.
- Activating the Slice of Cake while the Sugar Rush buff is already active resets the 2-minute buff duration.
Trivia
- Unlike most furniture items, the Slice of Cake requires 3 units to research in Journey Mode.
- It appears in an NPC emote which can be seen during Parties:
- The Slice of Cake and its Sugar Rush buff were introduced in 1.3.2, but remained unobtainable until 1.4.0.1.
