Emotes

  

Desktop/Console/Mobile-Only Content: This information applies only to the Desktop, Console, and Mobile versions of Terraria.

Emotes are small, temporary, animated sprites that appear inside chat bubbles above an entity. They can be used by players, town NPCs, and enemies.

Usage

A fully unlocked Emotes Window on the  Desktop version.

Players

The Emotes Window allows players to easily use any unlocked emote. Most emotes are unlocked by default, however, some require their associated boss or event to be defeated.

The Emotes Window can be accessed by pressing to the bottom right of the inventory.

The Emotes Window can be accessed by pressing in the chat menu.

Players can also emote via chat commands. There is an associated command for all emotes, which can be used regardless if it has been unlocked in the Emotes Window.

Additionally:

• Lucy the Axe(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) causes the player to use "Lucy the Axe" whenever it talks.
• Hunger(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) causes the player to use either "Peckish", "Hungry", or "Starving" when it progresses to the next stage.

Town NPCs

Non-pet town NPCs will randomly emote. While the choice of emote may seem random, it is actually affected by their environment: This content is transcluded from NPCs/emotes.

	If the player is On Fire!, has a Cursed Flames, is in the Underworld, or the NPC being spoken to is on fire.

Rock-paper-scissors

They can also emote to "converse" with other NPCs. A player emoting in front of an NPC will also cause them to respond.

Enemies

The only enemy that uses an emote is the Kobold, which uses "Alert" when charging.

• In worlds with Corruption, the emote for the Brain of Cthulhu is unlocked in the Emotes Window after defeating the Eater of Worlds, and vice versa.
