Some kind of debuff to enemies?

The dark energy appears on an enemy when you strike them. When my minions hit someone with the energy, it would flow to everyone around them, and those others would seem to die faster, but I don't know if they were sharing damage, having a DOT debuff, or just had reduced armor/increased damage.
