Pirates of the Caribbean Reference?

Could this be a reference to the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flubonimo (talk • contribs) at 21:38, 22 May 2020 (UTC)

From the Pirate wiki, this is said:
* "Yo ho ho and a bottle of....blinkroots!" (reference to the sea song "Dead Man's Chest")
And, with the name of the chest "Dead Man's Chest", it might be a direct reference to that sea song.
However, the dead man's chest have nothing to do with pirate loot, despite the fact that the sprite is a ordinary golden chest.

Block Swap

They also trigger if you use Block Swap to replace them with another chest. 73.21.37.218 08:15, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

"occasionally"?

Currently the page states that Dead Man's Chests would "occasionally" contain a Dead Man's Sweater. While I didn't take notes, I can remember seeing said sweater so frequently in these chests that I am suprised to read that there was even a chance to not get it. If someone with a more vivid memory of opening these chests could confirm this, could we maybe write "frequently" or something similar? --185.220.101.149 00:29, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

My personal anecdote: I have run into 1 Dead Man's Chest so far and it did not contain a sweater. --Breathlessblizzard (talk) 02:10, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
Confirmed that the sweater do not always generate. While it feel like 50%, 33% is not a bad number. --CDRx65536 (talk) 07:48, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

Merge

I agree with the suggestion of moving the details of the trap the chest spawns in to the traps page, page should be focused on the object itself. However, this chest is sufficiently distinct from standard chests that it should be retained as it's own page, but also be included in the mechanisms category under triggers. 110.143.1.198 02:11, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

Thank you, I did not realize normal trapped chests couldn't store anything. I will perform the merge like you suggested -- Breathlessblizzard (talk) 13:55, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
Should the merge banner be removed now that everything has been moved/dealt with, or is there still something that needs to be done? —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk 14:48, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

I think because how the chest have a storage inventory, it should be merged with the standard chests (that have a inventory). However because how the dead man's chest is trapped, and because how trapped chests have their own page, it make sense to have it be on its own page. This is enhanced by the fact that it has its own surrounding structure (of various types of trap near it). The banner is now removed. CDRx65536 (talk) 07:55, 17 March 2021 (UTC)

Achievement bugged?

I'm not getting the achievement when opening the box, and getting killed by it. Any idea what may be wrong? It's an expert world. - Unnamed 30-oct-2020 11.44 CET — Preceding unsigned comment added by 145.132.167.98

I've found two in the same (normal difficulty, large) world so far, and I got killed both times, but I didn't get the achievement either. - Caleb 8-nov-2020 7:11 PM CST — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.203.148.131
