i have seen one of those things in my server, i accidentally spawned in the wrong ID for something and it appeared and it had what looked like a black sword! i fear i may have snooped ono something when i created that by mistake, i basically was making a floating nether biome trying to find the nether wal ID when that poped up, it slayed me and even followed me back to my spawn, i panicked and all i could say is i THOUGHT it had 400 health, hint: "tends to spawn at deep dark areas like the very bottom of a corupted chasm, as to act as guardians to 'deep corruption' biomes, or can spawn normally at night" and when i defeated it it disappeared in a cloud of black and red and purple swirling smoke, but due to being apparently newly released, upon defeat sadly did not hold any drops.

I'm not sure if hitting them through walls is a bug. For enemies that move through walls, being able to hit them through walls has been typical so far.

"Unable to pass through certain areas"

There is no mention of anything like this in the code for wraiths. They basically follow the same AI as pixies. There are no special modifications done to the AI script for wraiths. They do however, have the 'nocollide' flag, and the interaction between the AI type and this flag is what causes their unusual behavior. --GauHelldragon 21:15, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

I think I figured it out. The wraith I saw was hovering just below the wall to a particular NPC house. It looked like the block floor and wooden platform were a barrier to it, but that must have simply been its height limitation. Also, it briefly broke this height limitation while passing through a wall to get to that room; must be a feature of how the hover AI works. Thanks for your clarification. --Theothersteve7 15:56, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Biome spawning clarification

Does this enemy spawn "on the surface at night", implying anywhere on the surface at night, or does it only spawn in the Forest, which I think is the only biome whose wiki page explicitly lists it as an enemy? -Jatopian28123 (talk) 05:34, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

Answer: Yes, anywhere, and they are the worst. -Jatopian28123 (talk) 06:32, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
