Post-1.3

Console version
Console-Only Content: This section's information applies only to the Console version of Terraria.

Notes

  • Same controls as PlayStation 4
  • Has Desktop version Desktop achievements called Accomplishments, like PlayStation 4.
  • Title screen changed
  • Zoom key control actually does not do anything when changed, LT and RT still zoom (while paused).
  • Xbox already has the teased Desktop Crimson background, and many other ones (like the Beach one which has a seagull and a flying Shark, which isn’t a Sharkron)
  • The white enemy text shows whether the Zombie is a Raincoat Zombie or a normal one
  • Where the Camera Modes button would normally be, a Player List (abeit the rendering of the heads is very, very distorted and discolored) button is there
  • The saving indicator changed from a Plantera Spiky Ball to a golden-yellow sunflower head
  • Goldfish is no longer food
  • Stair elevator trick doesn’t work

Pre-1.3

Old-gen console version
Old-gen console-Only Content: This section's information applies only to the Old-gen console version of Terraria.

Feel free to update Old-gen info based on this, it’s only too bad I couldn’t get all of the NPCs’ descriptions...

Notes

Just taking some notes on what’s different in . Notes below.

  • Christmas Pudding lasts 35 minutes, which leads me to believe that XBox One has Desktop version Desktop’s food times.
  • I can confirm I am on 1.08+, since I can name chests (if I’m able to use Titanium Bars to craft Titan armor or other armors, I can confirm 1.09). However, Goldfish are still consumable, and drop on kill! I am yet to test what the Bug Net does.
    • I might end up making a Goldfish (Food) page if they turn out seperate (like Present (furniture)). It turns out that Goldfish are still healing items even when caught with a Bug Net!
  • Vanity accessory slots do exist! So does making them visible and invisible.
  • There’s also a Desktop-like housing menu. There are empty slots which gradually fill up as you get NPCs.
    • When you select an NPC’s head in the menu while standing inside of a house, the NPC will move to that house.
    • When you press X inside a house hovered over any slot of the housing menu it checks if it’s valid.
    • When you press Y anywhere at any place in the housing menu, it toggles NPC banner visibility.
  • The wiki probably says this already, but there’s an option to turn on and off auto-cursor for mining. Push down the Right Thumbstick.
  • Keybinding does not exist, only an option to toggle between “Standard” and “Alternate” control setups.
  • NPCs have tooltips in the housing menu!
    • Guide: “Provides tips and crafting advice.”
    • Dye Trader: “Sells dyeing needs.” [sic]
    • Merchant: “Sells basic goods.”
    • Painter: “Sells paints and equipment used to paint blocks and walls.”
    • Nurse: “Heals wounds and debuffs.”
    • Demolitionist: “Sells explosives.”
  • There’s a Quick Stack button which looks exactly like Desktop’s, and blacks out and becomes non-functional when there’s no chest open. Bottom-right control instructions still say that pressing A will Quick Stack.
    • It seems this Quick Stack button is smart and senses whether a Quick Stack will even do anything. However, it doesn’t detect coins.
    • It seems I may be incorrect, and this option may act like Quick Stack to Nearby Chests.
    • There’s also ANOTHER Quick Stack button inside the chest.
  • Torches can’t be broken with any button, so a pickaxe must be used. Quite unusual considering that even Mobile version Mobile has a way of putting them out.
  • When you hover over an item, it shows you its stats, but it also shows you its stack! For example, I have 6 Recall Potions. At the top of all of the stats, it says “Recall Potion (6/30)”.
  • When you add a torch to a Floating Island house, it becomes suitable housing.
  • Unlike all other versions, XBox One maps automatically explore an ~150 block wide circle around you as you travel.
  • Doors (when placing) don’t have autoswing.
  • Doors automatically open like in Mobile, but only open when you walk into the door, not when you are looking at it (like Mobile).
  • NPC banners are much smaller than in Desktop and Mobile.
  • Most likely a bug, but it seems that Bunnies cannot be hurt by enemies! (to be verified, some enemies can still kill them)
  • Mobile versionNot really an XBox note, but apparently Mobile has 1.3 potion textures, upon checking on the image files after noticing weird potion looks.
    • WAIT! There’s exceptions! So far the only ones are the Mining Potion and Builder Potion. I suspect this means that all Desktop-Console-Mobile potions are like this.
  • The metal Minecart variant must be crafted, like on Desktop.
  • Buffs are cancleable upon selection by pressing A. To select them, navigate to the Equip inventory menu, where 16 buff/debuff slots are located. This does not work on the following buffs:
    • Cozy Fire, which is actually called Campfire in XBox One
    • Probably more, but unknown for now.
  • Buffs have some sort of color system for their names, this may just be to distinguish between infinite and temporary buffs healing buffs and buffs, must be confirmed later.
  • Vines restrict the placement of Furniture. Odd but true!
  • If a Goldfish is walking during rain, but does not find water to start swimming in, it will keep walking.
  • Glowing Mushrooms are more purple than blue, most likely to support the logic of Purple Thread.
