Not dropping?

Hey, I've killed a LOT of hornets, spent a few hours hunting them in the Underground Jungle, both Easy and Hard (mostly on easy). So far, I've gotten four pieces of Ancient Cobalt Armor and two Hornet Banners (all exclusively from mass-murdering hornets) and yet I have yet to recieve a single Bezoar drop. As such, I'm wondering if this item isn't actually dropping at it's 1% drop rate. Anybody got anything on this? 63.152.116.157

Feeling your pain right here. I suspect the hornet drops are severely bugged; I have slaughtered countless Hornets and Moss Hornets, to the point of getting three banners and three Ancient Cobalt Leggings; however, no Bezoar, no other Ancient Cobalt parts. The fact that the Bezoar is said to drop from the Steampunker makes it doubly suspicious for me: it might just be that the drop list in the code points to the wrong entity. That Steampunker bit feels very much like a not-so-subtle troll edit. If there's proof in the coding that's being discussed on the Official Terraria Forums or something, I'd very much appreciate a link. But yes, I, too, get a lot fewer Bezoars in comparison to say Blindfolds or Vitamins. 173.228.18.91 06:28, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

I have never had a problem with getting Bezoars to drop- I think the problem is you're getting really unlucky with your drops, and as a result the game's blatantly refusing to give you what you want. "Bad luck" is the only other explanation. It's just that in all the games I've played, I've never had a luck quite this bad... and I've played games with 0.01% drops. The law of large numbers is most certainly not helping me this time. But oh well, there's no "fair" in simple RNG. This is a bug. Bezoars seem not to drop in single player. I found one in a multiplayer game two weeks ago after spending only a little time in the jungle, but spent about 6 hours in single player without finding one. I just decided to switch to multiplayer (same world with host & play) and got 3 bezoars within a half-hour. The comments above seem to support this. Uh, excuse me. I do not know how to make these fancy discussions and how to format them, but I'll just write. I have killed hornets to the point where It's ridiculous. I've killed over (Nine thousand) 300 hornets and even got a jungle key, still no bee-zoar. I remember that I got two in a trip to the jungle with a friend last time without even trying to farm it. I’ve literally been farming moss hornets and hornets in the jungle for ages and I can’t seem to get a bezoar mind you I’m playing in Xbox so I’m still in (1.2) but I feel like whenever i played on my computer it would be very easy to come across a bezoar but with my luck on the Xbox I don’t think a bezoar even exists ;( but I honestly think there’s a glitch in the game where it’s not letting me get a bezoar from a hornet, I have not yet started to farm any toxic sludges so i feel like I still have a chance. Not just the Jungle

I just got a Bezoar drop from a Toxic Sludge twice just below my town during a Solar Eclipse. I was nowhere near the Jungle. Subtlecoolness (talk) 20:44, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

All Toxic Sludges are able to drop Bezoars, and they can spawn (I believe) anywhere in the Underground Layer. Farming those might be the best way to get Bezoars until the drop bug (if it is a bug) is fixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.20.85.138 at 21:23, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

As of 1.3.0.3, there seems to be much higher percentage of getting these. I'm playing on a Pre-Hardmode Expert world in singleplayer and i went to the jungle to try and get one of these so i wouldn't have to get it later. I was there for less than 10 minutes and i got 2 bezoars before i even got the 50th Hornet kill banner. I don't know if these high chances were just me getting extremely lucky, expert mode making the item have an increased percentage, or something else. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.17.18.106 at 19:02, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Expert helps for the 2% drop chance rather than 1%, but in a standard Hardmode world I've killed 122 Hornets and 325 Moss Hornets without a drop, assuming I didn't miss it at least once. Incorrect/Incomplete information:

The trivia section notes that it is one of 2 components of the Ankh SHIELD that can be obtained pre-hardmode. I propose this be edited to read either 1 of 4, those being Bezoar, Nazar, Cobalt Shield, Obsidian Skull, or "one of the two components of the Ankh CHARM that can be obtained pre-hardmode." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.115.46.234 at 13:30, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Done. Probably the idea was to list it as one of hard-to-obtain component of Ankh Shield. And Obsidian Shield obviously don't belong with list.GJPEV (talk) 13:49, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
