Height Requirements

Are there any height requirements for glowing mushrooms to grow? As in, do they have to be a a certain depth? I planted a seed on a line mud patch in pitch darkness, but it didn't spread or grow. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.141.185.19 at 00:05, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

They have to be below 0, you can craft a depth meter to check how far down you are. Has anybody managed to get the tall mushrooms to grow? Also, should probably link the mushroom pages together via one of those neat bottom bar boxes. (Too Bad I fail At wiki code) - Bacon 23:02, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

I'm trying to make a farm right now. I removed some of the dirt background to be sure the mushrooms would grow. I will tell you the results :) --Sjeesen 10:37, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

If you make a mushroom farm with a tall enough area above it, some should randomly sprout up periodically. Keep in mind, it's probably not the most efficient way to farm mushrooms even though it looks cool. All that vacant space could be used for more floors of mushroom farm. --Ruediix (talk) 09:01, 9 August 2017 (UTC)

Mushroom field

I am wondering why aren't Mushroom fields considered a biome? Aslo I've done some research and found that they are only generated between the Jungle and the Dungeon and aren't generated close to the dungeon but can be generated at the edge of the Jungle. However I am not sure where to put that if it should be added to the page.--Crauss 09:22, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

I suspect Mushroom field is just a variant of the glowing mushroom biome. It doesn't have any unique attributes other than being above ground. --Ruediix (talk) 08:58, 9 August 2017 (UTC)

Inconsistent Coloration
