Possible Influence on Rarity?

I was fishing for Dungeon Crates in the dungeon, with the full Angler armor set, an Angler Tackle Bag, Master Bait, Chum Buckets, and all applicable potions (in Journey Mode) and I pulled about 7 or 8 Golden Carp in one session before getting 10 Dungeon Crates. I've never encountered this in any other biome, despite using the same gear every time I fish. Could this indicate that Golden Carp are more common in the dungeon? I know that most likely nobody pays attention to this page, but I felt it was worth asking. BaconSandwichMinecraft (talk) 06:27, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

It is possible for sure. Due to the way fishing catches are determined in the code, you will have different chances of catching a fish under different circumstances. Because of the myriad of factors that play a role, it is hardly possible to compute concrete, accurate chances, though. Anyway, you might also just have had very good luck with RNG that day! --Rye Greenwood (talk) 13:34, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

Layer

According to the Fishing catches section of the wiki, the Golden Carp can only be caught in the underground, cavern and underworld layers. However, according to the Golden Carp section of the wiki, it can be caught on any layer. I believe the correct information is found on the fishing catches section as I've never caught one on the surface and nor has anyone I've met. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Soupy Milk (talkcontribs) at 06:18, 17 July 2021 (UTC)

That's true. I can confirm from the Desktop version Desktop 1.4.2.3 source code that it can only be caught below the surface. Thanks for correcting this! --Rye Greenwood (talk) 13:34, 17 July 2021 (UTC)
