Ok, so what is the actual location of lime kelp? out of 80 hours of gameplay in 1.2, I didn't even know this thing existed until Thursday night, and I've spent probably close to 8 hours looking for Lime Kelp in the cavern layer due to faulty information on this wiki page. Then the wiki was edited to say that Lime Kelp Spawns exclusively in Snow Biome. Which I discovered was also wrong. I suggest anyone editing the Lime Kelp page back up their edits with a screen shot. My search uncovered two things: One, Lime Kelp does not appear to spawn in the cavern layer UNLESS it's in a special biome. The only two lime kelps I found in the Cavern layer were underwater in Mushroom Biomes. This is after 8 hours of searching on 10/12/13. Two, Lime Kelp is most common in Snow Biome. It took 10 minutes to find three today.

Here are screenshots backing up my information:

Screenshots 1-4 show Lime kelp in mushroom biome. The ONLY place I have seen it in the cavern layer. Screen Shots 5-7 Show Lime Kelp in Snow Biome. The Final Screen Shot shows three locations of Lime Kelp in the snow biome.

Questions that need to be answered: Does Lime Kelp spawn underwater in the cavern layer, NOT in special biomes, but is incredibly rare? Provide a screenshot if you find it. Does Lime Kelp spawn underwater in spider biomes in the Cavern layer? Provide a screenshot if you find it.

I'll be editing the wiki to show my findings.

I've been following up on your testing so it's more than one person's evidence. So far all my findings have agreed. Hours of searching in the normal cavern layers have turned up absolutely no lime kelp. I moved my search to the snow cavern layer and found several in around 30 minutes of searching. I do not have any sizable Mushroom biomes in the cavern layer so I cannot confirm that. It's fairly clear though that your mushroom biome is far enough away from your snow biome to confirm it didn't grow due to close proximity to that. --71.55.136.208 02:49, 18 October 2013 (UTC) (Moxxy)

Found a lime kelp in the cavern layer, not in special biome. Editing the wiki page to be accurate. [1]

kelp in the ocean?

Has anybody tried searching for kelp in the ocean?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.200.63.8 at 02:38, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

On the occasions I've been in the ocean I've never seen a Lime Kelp. I don't know if it's impossible for Lime Kelps to spawn there, though.

I literally just found one because I was looking up on how to make the Rainbow dye and saw I needed a Lime dye to make one of the gradients. I went to ocean biome and literally saw a kelp near the shore; about 6 or 7 blocks away from the ground-level sand blocks. Playing on PS3; PSNiD = Owguy. File:Imgur-nPdZEpN-Talk-Lime Kelp.jpeg
