In the 1.3.3.2 changelog, it is written "Sandstorm spawns are somewhat less dangerous pre-Eye of Cthulhu, with a slightly different spawn set.", but I didn't see anything there speaking about the Eye of Cthulhu. Could someone correct it? --Lightg4 (talk) 09:39, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

How does sleeping affect chances of Sandstorm?

Sleeping in bed speeds up game time, but, considering that chances of Sandstorm depend on game ticks, does sleeping increase them? Or sleeping actually reduces chances since you'll have less time with 30 mph wind? Does sleeping affect the weather at all?Deworld (talk) 13:52, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

does anyone else have this?

since the 1.4 update, when i am in hardmode i have not encountered more than 1 sandstorm. mind you, i play for a lot of time. does anyone else have the problem of the sandstorms being so rare? Inwader4 (talk) 11:46, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

That's likely due to the prerequisite of needing 30MPH+ wind speeds now, otherwise the chance of one happening is 0% as opposed to the normal 1/84,600 chance per tick. That time when the odds are 0% can make the overall odds seem a lot rarer (Assuming a full 24 minutes with a wind speed of 30MPH+, the odds of at least 1 sandstorm occurring in that time is just shy of 64%. Assuming only 1/4th of the day, or 6 minutes with a wind speed of 30MPH+, and the other 18 minutes with a wind speed of less than 30MPH, the odds of at least 1 occurring in that 24 minute time span comes out to around 22.5%). The pre 1.4 odds of 1/518,400 came out to around a 15.35% chance of a sandstorm occurring at least once every in game day, which is about the equivalent of having wind speeds above 30MPH for 4 minutes each day in 1.4. I don't know what the average amount of time wind speeds reach past 30MPH over a 24 minute period is, so it's hard to say what the actual odds come out to be. Hopefully that helps explain the situation better. Stranded at sea (talk) 04:55, 4 July 2020 (UTC)

Player squinting

I feel like the line about the player squinting their eyes should be moved from Trivia to Notes, since it is a visual gameplay mechanic.

The page doesn't talk about the bugged nature of sandstorms on consoles

Every time I try to edit the page to say that sandstorms are near constant on console it immediately gets removed, which is a problem as featuring such vital information could really better the game for some who play on console, myself included. It seems downright stupid that the wiki would not allow such vital information to be included on the page. DigiPunch (talk) 17:55, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
