This template is used to display characters of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).
Usage
{{ ipa | <IPA characters> | <language> | before = <custom string in the front> | listen = <link to sound file> }}
- First unnamed parameter
The IPA string. It can be entered from the "Special characters" section in the editor toolbar or via other utilities like IPA i-charts, IPA character picker 19, TypeIt, or IPA Chart keyboard.
- Second unnamed parameter
The language of the string; defaults to English. Enter the ISO 639-1 code of the language, e.g. ja for Japanese. This will modify the default text in the front and adjust the link to the IPA table on Wikipedia.
- before
By default, the IPA characters are preceded with a mention of the language of the string. Use this parameter to customize that.
- listen
Provide a link to a sound file with a pronunciation of the string.
