Vampire knives

Get vampire knives, is pretty much an end-all strategy if you're feeling lazy.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.173.25.253 at 18:19, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

the vampire knives are in crimson chest POST PLANTERA! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.202.187.36 at 15:02, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

RE: Magnet Sphere.

It may be confusing to players to include Magnet Sphere in the list of weapons to use against Plantera, as it is only available after killing Plantera.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.58.49.213 at 03:24, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

It got fixed. Thanks for your help. Proline3366 (talk) 12:08, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Unhelpful strategies

At least half of the strategies included here include armour or weapons you receive after killing plantera. Horseman's blade, spectral armour, magnet sphere... It's no problem at all for people with these items to just wipe plantera. It's the people who need to fight it for the first time, without any of the post-plantera items, who need help.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.175.21.91 at 18:51, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

I have to agree (being partially responsible for such "help" myself), a guide like this is likely both confusing and annoying for new players. I've attempted to clean up the page now, trimming down and moving info of post-Plantera strategies to a bottom section for those who are interested in farming. while checking out the builds ( my younger brother is preparing for his first mech boss so i'm refreshing my memory on what things shoud help him that he can actually access pre-plantera ) i noticed that you forgot to fix shroomite armor from list so i updated that part of guide --Crackmore (talk) 13:47, 25 May 2014 (UTC)

draw attention to run-on sentence

This line is confusingly worded, badly punctuated, or both: "You should set a spawn point near where the Plantera Boss fight you would need to use a hammer and from the surface dig the walls until you get to where the Plantera's Bulb is at or where you intend to fight Plantera and it will make it so the boss won't despawn."

Unfortunately, because of the nature of guides, they're often poorly written and full of extraneous and oddly formatted information. I started to re-edit it, but after figuring out what it was trying to say, I realized that it wasn't a valid strategy. As such it's been removed. Gearzein (talk) 17:11, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Respawn on console

The respawn trick does not work on the 360 version anymore. I have tried it myself. I set up a bed next to a bulb and then summoned her only to get killed and for her to despawn before I could respawn. The respawn checks for console have been set to being something like 10 seconds. Every boss despawns before that time. DragoHanter (talk) 07:43, 24 September 2016 (UTC)

Did you do it properly. Maybe its only for the Mobile? Please try again and come back here and let me see the results, if negative, then I have to demolish the "Spawnpoint" Section, but if positive, then I will leave it there. Gear- turtle armor

Turtle armor gives you more defense, but you are not actually having low damage compared to the chlorophyte armor, because the turtle armor's set bonus reflects back damage taken... Should I edit this part in the page?? Proline3366 (talk) 12:06, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Isn't that Beetle's set bonus effect? Turtle gives you more aggro, giving your MP party lower chances of getting attacked. -- Murrayzero (talk) 12:28, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
I don't think you should. Think about it like this: If you are playing on Expert mode, Getting hit by Plantera makes you take about 110 damage on the first form, and about 140 on the second. With Turtle armor you are going to reflect the exact amount, which sounds good, until you realize 100-150 damage is the average shot from the Leaf Crystal set bonus, and that it does less damage than your average critical hit (Sometimes, even a regular attack). And it's even weaker on Normal mode, where she deals way less damage.
You should also consider that only melee damage from Plantera is reflected, projectile damage is not. When fighting Plantera, you don't usually get hit by her body, but rather her petals and tentacles from the second form.
Turtle armor has even lower stat bonuses than Mythril armor (that's a really bad title, especially post Mechs) and a set bonus that is considered to be one of the worst in the game, for the reasons above. Its only advantage is the 9 extra defense you get compared to Chloro, that's why it should only be used for a true tank. And you could even say that a tank would rather trade a bit of defense in exchange for the offensive bonuses. Bame66 (talk) 12:58, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for your help! Proline3366 (talk) 13:37, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Turtle’s set bonus is reflect; beetle’s is either increased damage dealt as you deal damage, or decreased damage taken as you avoid damage. Thecosmictruth777 (talk) 00:13, 4 January 2020 (UTC)

Weapons

can a meowmere be used in the fight if you have one?Lepspring (talk) 14:11, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

Well, yes. Thing is, it's literally impossible to get a Meowmere before killing Plantera, so avoid mentioning it in the page. Bame66 (talk) 16:05, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
it's not impossible if you use an inventory editor, like terrasavr, which is what i did.Lepspring (talk) 00:47, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

Yes, it is impossible for non-cheaters, since inventory editors are cheating. If anything, use them to save yourself farming, which is alright, but breaking progression? No. Thecosmictruth777 (talk) 00:14, 4 January 2020 (UTC)

Fireworks section misleading

For a laugh I tried using the fireworks method suggested on the guide page, but as it turns out fireworks respect boss defense values so the basic formula of boss health divided by damage is not at all accurate. 200 rockets is not enough, in fact the roughly 300 fireworks rockets that hit during my attempt only knocked out about 1/4 of Plantera's total health. The number of fireworks necessary is far in excess of the number that can possibly be arranged to hit Plantera in a single launch sequence; my attempt was spread across 4 separate triggers of 100 rockets each, which took up a space the size of a modest arena by itself. On top of that, every launch was accompanied by a severe lag spike as the rockets collided with Plantera's hitbox and attempted to render 80+ firework particle effect showers at the same time. I am very curious if anyone else has ever actually tried this, or whether it was suggested as a joke or a challenge and taken as a serious strategy. The fact that defense was not accounted for in estimating the number of fireworks necessary would seem to imply the latter, in which case it should definitely NOT be recommended as a viable method for a first-time Plantera fight. 71.88.16.170 02:20, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Should we add another section?

I want to know where we should put a section that I think we need on the wiki. A guide for farming plantera bulbs I dont know if it goes in this guide or farming resources or whatever. So if someone could help i would appreciate it. Makingmadness9284 (talk) 13:32, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Killing Plantera with Fetid Baghnakhs

Was wondering whether an addition under the "Specific Strategies" heading could be added, involving a special build involving melee tank gear and Fetid Baghnakhs, along with a few regen and defense buffs (Bast Statue, Dryad's Blessing, Honey, Heart Statue) and sufficient potions. With this build, I was able to defeat Plantera in Master Mode, finishing the fight around 100 HP. 82.15.229.236 19:55, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Incompatible Formatting

on mobile, as well as other really low resolutions (such as the smallest one it will let you use in the steam overlay while using Terraria's 800 by 600 resolution) the sprites in the table that shows the projectiles Plantera uses get really small, like really small, like four pixels small in 800 by 600, to be more specific. it shouldn't be like that.

So, that's the problem, anything more I could say would really just be speculation. -A1 (talk) 17:10, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
