I like the concept of the page, but maybe the PvP page should be turned into one explaining the pvp system (The colored teams and pvp flag) and such and create a "Trap Design" subpage that would be included in a "See Also" at the bottom of PvP. - Shadowclaimer 17:55, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

That stuff will come in time. -- Wynthyst File:Curseicon.png talk 18:10, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

This page neglects to mention the Star Fury sword if you're fighting in the open. The stars deal about 20 damage a pop and WILL knock back other players and can KEEP them knocked back if you constantly swing.

Also, Armor needs to be included in the damage calculations -Cyprex

I will work on explaining the PvP system! Thanks for bringing that up! Also can anyone confirm this? Star Cannon The star cannon does 134 damage per shot to a full molten armor (38 def) charater with an obsidian skull (2 def) and a cobalt shield (2 def). So 134 + 21 = 155 base damage assuming 2 def points reduces damage by 1 point. --Thanatos 17:13, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Neglecting Defense

Because Terraria functions in set defense rather than percentage defense, pure potential dps may not be the best way to look at things. By this I mean, for example, rather than having 25% damage removed from every hit, there's a set amount like 15 damage being removed from every hit. This style of defense hurts weapons that rely on speed more than ones that rely on strong single hits. If I have a choice between a weapon that can do 60 damage and a weapon that's twice as fast that can do 35 damage, technically the faster weapon could do more damage over time disregarding defense. However, if the opponent is wearing armor that mitigates 15 points of damage (molten, should be 20 points but the set effect is non-functional at the moment) that changes the game. Now the first weapon is doing 45 damage a hit while the second is only doing 20 at 2x speed, meaning the first weapon has higher damage over time.

The main question to figure out is this: How much does defense matter?-- 11:41, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Currently, the article has been wrote in a way of "tips and tricks" and I'd consider it as a guide. In general, PvP article should explain what PvP is and how it works, and then link to this "guide" on See Also. Juze User Juze sig icon.jpg 12:22, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

I added a somewhat detailed intro to the PvP section, however I'm not sure how to write it as a guide as the basic principles of PvP are pretty self explanitory. I'll examine other guides and do what I can though!!! --Thanatos 20:14, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
This has been moved to the Guides namespace. I do agree that we could use a general PvP page in the mainspace. -- Wynthyst File:Curseicon.png talk 20:16, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Topic headers

I added lvl 3 headers to the sections to make the TOC more functional as the page is getting longer. -- Wynthyst File:Curseicon.png talk 20:17, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Damage and Armor

There's nothing on here mentioning damage formulas, I'm going to put that in as I've verified it all through extraneous testing. AzureShadow 21:36, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

So, what I'd really like to know is how are people getting some of these numbers. What exactly is "use time"? Is it time to use a weapon measured in tenths of a second? What is "damage rate"? Is it literally damage per second? This would be very helpful to me and might be a good idea to put in the Damage section. SgtKlaos 17:15, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Is there really a need to simply restate the item description that can already be found on the item page? This section should be primarily about how the accessories affect pvp, not their general characteristics. Also, if you have a suggestion for how to improve the page, then place it on the talk page, not as a note inside the guide, or make the changes yourself. Thanks! -- Wynthyst File:Curseicon.png talk 05:32, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Redundant classes should be collapsed together

Such as the Tank and P.R.O.

Rather than creating a new class for the P.R.O. we could just add a paragraph to the Tank about using ranged weapons. This goes for a number of other classes as well. Many of the scout/saboteur classes have nearly identical builds.

Please take the time to edit any grammatical errors, typos or general bad writing you see. The PVP page suffers the most from this issue. --Preceding unsigned comment added by Crimson Baron (talk • contribs)

I will fix all these mistakes at the latest possibility. That stuff bothers a lot of people and can be distracting from the info. --Preceding unsigned comment added by Skiles (talk • contribs)

Please, at least change "defence" for "defense". Seeing "defence" written everywere hurts my eyes. --Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk • contribs)

You know you can edit articles, right? Also, that's not actually a misspelling, it's just how the British do it. Although… I'm not aware of a consensus, but having both spellings probably isn't the best idea. --Lunboks 22:52, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
indented text well, acording to the style guide, your supposed to use americanized english over queen's english, so, yes. it's supposed to be spelled "defense" Platinum CoinGold CoinSilver CoinFinaLemonSilver CoinGold CoinPlatinum Coin 02:09, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

new class?

I was thinking of using the vanity items to make it seem like you have weak armor...

as in, put copper armor in the vanity, but molten armor in the actual slots, you seem weak, but have massive defense!

What kind of class would that go under?

Feel free to make your own class. That is a great idea, you can name it what you want or even make a new section regarding vanity items. ~Null • Talk • Contribs 18:22, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

The P.R.O Package 2.0

Why in the world would someone wear four Obsidian Skulls? That makes no sense as one of them does the trick.

It is for the defense bonus, but you can indeed argue that is not the smartest move. happypal (talk • contribs) 07:56, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

I see no reason we need those pointless quotes in there. They serve no purpose, making them spam. Counter arguments?--Cobaltcakes 19:05, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Well, as a guide I could see a little flavor to mix things up, but I'm not opposed to them being removed either, since they are a little extra subjective. --JonTheMon 19:10, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
I'd also like to add that they're quite unprofessional looking, and very confusing to anyone who doesn't get the TF2 references.--Cobaltcakes 19:15, 29 June 2011 (UTC)

Splitting the page up

This page is getting huge. Perhaps some sections should get their own articles? The "classes" section in particular is getting pretty long. --GauHelldragon 02:08, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, but the problem is that most of the classes are basically duplicates with different name. For example, the Jolt, the Ninja and the Scout all focus on the player being fast and striking hard, so that concept could basically be summarized all in one class. -- 19:22, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Frankly I think we should just scrap the whole "classes" section entirely. Only 2 or 3 of the "classes" actually have some sort of unique strategy that adds something to the page. The rest are just uninteresting, unhelpful and take up space. --GauHelldragon 12:58, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

I agree that the "classes" section should be removed. There's no official class system in the game, so any addition here will just be a preference by a particular user. This is intended to be a wiki, and while sharing strategy is fine, the classes section is nothing more than people giving fancy names to their own play style. -- 06:58, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

I can take care of it. --Zoro the Gallade 10:20, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

There.Instead of "classes" I put the main ways one can play Pvp:Tanking, ganking, supporting, defending, flying and sabotaging.--Zoro the Gallade 18:56, 28 July 2011 (UTC)

i added some unique classes, you're welcome. and it's not just giving fancy names to play style, it's more of helping players with "fighter's block", as i call it, know what items to grab in order to prepare for pvp. FinaLemon 18:36, 23 October 2015 (UTC)
you know, now that you mention it, i've just realized that one of the longer sections [traps] doesn't really bleong here, mabey we should split and move that over to the base guide? FinaLemon 19:00, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

Obsidian padding

Since obsidian is now vulnerable to plain old bombs rather than just dynamite, this section is obsolete. I'd edit it myself, but I guess I need a voodoo doll in order to be able to affect the guide pages. --SorryThatUsernameIsAlreadyTaken (talk) 17:42, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

well, i added some armor to the list, but i know neither how the tag for missing images, nor the file names for the armor sprites. if someone could add that in, it'd be great! Platinum CoinGold CoinSilver CoinFinaLemonSilver CoinGold CoinPlatinum Coin 01:23, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

please help!

is anyone even still working on this page?i've been at this page for half the day, yet the only changes that have been made were my own. this is a big page, and i'm not sure i can do it by myself! can someone redisign the juggernaut class?

it's self contradictave and an impossiblity, as the dragon mask is a console exclusive, while the meowmere is pc exclusive. aparently it's a really touchy class, so whomever designed it, please fix it! need a proofreading and someone to finish a sub-article

two things: 1: i added a lot of content as per request, so it'd be nice if someone could proofread that for me. 2: i underestimated the time it would take to make and finish the mounts section, and i won't have access to the wiki for the next few days. so if someone could finish that up, that'd be great!FinaLemon 18:51, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

well, i finished the mounts section, but i still need someone to proofread, so if someone could do that, i thank you in advance! FinaLemon 18:32, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

split and move?

well, the page is growing infamously long, but i feel the best way to shorten it right now would be to split off the "traps" section, then merge it with the bases guide. when you think about it, most of the traps don't only work on players, but also on enemies, meaning it would fit better elsewhere, such as the bases guide as i suggested earlier. really, it could even have it's own page. but no matter how i look at it, i can't help but feel that it just doesn't quite fit here. FinaLemon 03:31, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

I've mostly rewritten the PvP guide (see User:0icke0/PvP. The rewrite is a lot shorter, which should solve at least part of the problem. As far as the trap section goes: I've removed a bunch of traps that are seriously time consuming for their limited use. I think the remaining traps are kinda over complicated to use against normal enemies, as normal enemies are rather stupid anyway. On the other hand the traps from the base defense guide will likely not work well against players. Hence I think a traps section for the PvP guide is rather useful. --0icke0 (talk) 17:02, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
what's left really does look like it belongs here, you did a good job. i especially like the fact that i wrote about a quarter of what's still standing. ;p FinaLemon 01:46, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
