Bug or not?

I don't believe getting another carrot is a bug, simply an exploit, as there is no way of telling whose carrot it is. The game just takes the safe side and gives you another. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ParanoidP (talk • contribs) at 03:43, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Spawn color

It is currently not unambiguously clear in the article which also contains a contradiction, so based on my current testing this is the case: The bunny always has the current color of the shirt of the character who summoned it. You can spawn it with one character, it doesn't matter. Any character who has it out right now, when changing shirt color at a dresser, the bunny color will update in realtime. This means you NEED to always have the same shirt color as the bunny. Shouldn't be a problem though with all the dyes and vanity gear available.--87.152.198.224 03:52, 26 May 2016 (UTC)

Buff

Its possible to get the pet in a normal version of Terraria by giving yourself the buff with an inventory editor or mods of some kind. Should this be mentioned in the page? Goatfatdoc (talk) 22:58, 19 August 2018 (UTC)

We only mention on the wiki what behavior in-game we can expect without the use of third-party tools. – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) 23:56, 19 August 2018 (UTC)

Implementation

Do you think it would be worth adding information on how this was implemented? The game recognizes the HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Terraria key "Bunny" with value "1" to identify the user is running the collector's edition. This both enables the user to obtain and use the carrot. 208.185.193.71 20:24, 5 February 2019 (UTC)

Journey mode?

Can this item be duplicated in Journey mode? I don't have the Collector's Edition but someone with one might be able to test it. Anzasquiddles (talk) 01:57, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

Researching the Carrot

"Carrots cannot be researched without having bought the Collector's Edition,"

I'm on PC v1.4.3.6, purchased via Steam, so while I am unable to use the item, I was able to research the item just fine (obtained via TEdit).

Was it changed in an update to allow research, or is this a bug?

AnonymousFog (talk) 23:31, 14 May 2022 (UTC)

Yes, it can be researched and duplicated. I've corrected that Note. BadPiggy1024 (talk) 03:50, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

Carrot is accessible but not fully implemented in console versions (Specifically X1)

I have found that it is possible to use transmutation to obtain a Carrot in console versions of Terraria. I was specifically using the Xbox One Edition, and have no confirmation on the others. It does not summon a rabbit pet when equipped, but it also does not remove the status effect of a pet if one is currently equipped. This can be used to have a pet active while not having it equipped, which led to some crashes when reloading worlds. By messing with the visibility of your active pet, it is also possible to have one pet active while having a completely separate pet equipped.

The only other thing of note is that the rabbit pet shows up blacked out alongside your character in the character select screen if you quit with the Carrot equipped and visible. The rabbit is fully black regardless of equipped dyes.

There is nothing preventing you from researching the Carrot in Journey Mode.

Is required for the "Pet Collector" achievement?

I'm trying to figure out if it's required for the Pet Collector achievement on not only Mobile and PC, but also Console. TheGaemer99 (talk) 16:00, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

The Pet Hoarder Achievement is not available on PC or mobile altogether it seems. --AmsterWikis (talk) 16:28, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

This achievement only exists in the old-gen console version, where the carrot does not exist. So it cannot be required. There is no pet-related achievement in the main version; the closest you get are "feeling petty" (but that one is about the town pets, not character pet) and "dye hard" (where you need to put a dye item in each of the dye slots, including the pet and light pet dye slots, but I'm not sure you even need to have the actual pet and light pet slots filled). Regardless, there's no achievement that specifically requires the carrot, as it would be a Jerk Move due to how hard the item is to obtain now that the Collector's Edition is no longer sold. Sure, you can trade it with other players, or cheat it with an inventory editor or map editor, but other achievements don't require this kind of stuff. --Zierga (talk) 08:36, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
