What is this ore?
I'd suspect it to be Demonite Ore. It was there, naturally. v1.0.2 game. Thoughts? I can't mine it with Iron Pickaxe. Juze

- It'd have to be Ebonstone. Only way to get Demonite ore is from boss drops, no natural sources.
only in the newest versions can low-tier tools like siver mine it, demonite ore can be used to make the greatest broadsword yet out of bars, the lights bane, it is the fastest and from a info. post "strongest" broadsword, you can make up to 3 items with it, but an demonite axe seems more fit for battle than the sword does, hope this helped (DLAJT) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:DLAJT24 (talk).
Do we still need this bit?
The page says "It has the same glow as cobalt armor and emits light when it glows." but I've tried placing Demonite Ore and it doesn't seem to emit any light. It does give off particles (about the same purple as it) but they don't glow. Additionally, Cobalt has been renamed Jungle now. If I'm misunderstanding, can anyone explain what it actually means, and should it be taken off the page? --92.19.129.125 18:27, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

ven though demonite may of lost its faint glow, it is still very cool to have around, it could be like an overhead decor, i think you need alot of demonite placed in one place in order for it to glow though, im not sure/ (DLAJT) *also glad i could help* (DLAJT) --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:DLAJT24 (talk).
- I've seen demonite ore underground in clusters of only 2 blocks. The only reason I noticed them is because they had a faint glow. It was *quite* faint, but enough to see they were there in the absolute darkness of the caves. -- TechpriestMagos 00:05, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

Best Way To Sell?

- The ore and bars both sell for exactly the same price per ore. Nothing you can make out of the bars even comes close to the value of the bars alone, so just sell the bars/ore. --Xolroc (talk) 01:21, 19 June 2014 (UTC)
Worldgen Changes
That tip about ores being very rare should be changed since 1.4.0.2 since worldgen now spawns more of them and in bigger chunks. They're still fairly rare (around slightly rarer than Gold), but it's very possible now to gather enough for at least Fisher of Souls. Someone confirm. Ronelm2000 (talk) 02:46, 23 May 2020 (UTC)
