Colors?

Can someone verify that the fairy colors actually correspond to different types of treasure? Unsure if true, as I recall a green fairy leading Chippy to a heart crystal in pre-release. Breathlessblizzard (talk) 21:59, 16 May 2020 (UTC)

From what I've seen so far, I've encountered a green fairy leading me to an underground cabin, and blue fairies leading me to both chests and crystal hearts. I haven't seen anything about large ore deposits yet. 71.192.216.103 19:12, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
I dont belive that colors nessesary corespond to what type of loot the faries will lead to, I also had an encounter with a green fairy leading me to an underground cabin chest. --GunterthePenguin 23:33, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
I had a green fairy and a pink fairy both show me a heart crystal and have seen on a stream a pink leading to a chest, so I'm 100% sure the colours don't matter. 75.97.211.164 14:46, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
The game literally just picks a fairy type at random; the colours have no gameplay significance whatsoever. MageKing17 (talk) 06:52, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Fairy Treasure

The page specifies that fairies can lead to a gold chest, I had a fairy lead me to a web-covered chest underground. I don't know if I'm posting this properly but I thought I would comment on it. LogiBear18086861 (talk) 03:17, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

I don't think the fairies leading to specific treasures is true at all, I just had a blue fairy lead me to a life fruit. I think they may just take the player to the nearest most valuable thing, like a metal detector would. Invinciblespeed (talk) 12:50, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
Agreed, I had a blue fairy lead me to a gold chest and just now a green fairy led me to a life crystal. Malorion (talk) 14:46, 17 May 2020 (UTC)
I believe they always lead you to the nearest treasure including Chests, Life Crystals, Life Fruits, and I believe once for me, an ore vein with Platinum. --Creeper_NoDenial (talk) 03:18, 29 May 2020 (UTC)
I would like to add a hard mode ore vein to the list that a fairy took me to. Adamantium. It was a rather large vein in fact. Perhaps the ore vein must be a certain size for a fairy to consider it worthwhile. --ChthonicOne (talk) 18:34, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
I checked the code, and added a list of valid ore types and also how much ore must be present (at least 40 in a 7x7 square) for fairies to target it to the article. MageKing17 (talk) 06:52, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

The image

Should we move the images already present to *Color* Fairy (Light Pet) or give the Light Pet images new files? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Murphmario (talk • contribs) at 04:07, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

A fairy ran away from me

I found a fairy on the surface near a Fallen Log, and I though to catch it (with a normal Bug Net). It tried to fly away, but I caught up and did catch it. I do not know if it ran because of the bug net or because it was near a Fallen Log, but it should be noted that this can happen and, in this state, a normal Bug Net can catch them. Bug Net

Screenshot I took after I read the page and got confused.

The page says you need the Golden Bug Net in order to catch fairies, but I just caught several that I ran into on the surface with a normal net. They were hovering over a fallen log as I was running to the ocean, and not knowing what they were, I just went for them with my normal net and caught them all. I am in Journey Mode, so unsure if that affects anything, but even if it does it might be worth noting. FortunaDraken (talk) 05:24, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

Twice I encountered fairies undersround (one blue and one pink) that I could not catch. Maybe they can only be caught on the surface or near the fallen logs? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aurelian Wolf (talk • contribs) at 17:02, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
Or maybe normal bug nets work at surface level but golden is required below that? What net were you trying with? Malorion (talk) 01:12, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
Even with a golden bug net, I can't catch fairies that were leading me to treasure. MageKing17 (talk) 05:05, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
I was using a normal bug net on the surface fairies, I haven't gotten the gold one yet. Haven't found any more surface ones yet to check if it was a fluke or not. FortunaDraken (talk) 06:17, 20 May 2020 (UTC)

Empty chests

The Notes section states fairies can lead you to "An already opened Chest if it's not empty", but this doesn't seem to be the case for me. I've been lead to empty chests twice by fairies, can someone test this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.219.152.193 at 06:51, 21 May 2020 (UTC)

The code makes no check of whether or not a container is empty before deciding it's treasure worth leading the player to. MageKing17 (talk) 06:52, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Fairy Banner

At the moment, 'Blue Flare' is linked off the chart as the fairy's banner. It should probably be tweaked! 72.39.111.222 12:17, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

That seems to be a problem with auto npc information delivery to the infobox which is messed up recently. Appears that everything without a banner will get Blue Flare as its banner... And banner tag does not accept "no" or anything that tries to remove the tag. Trying to fix that but likely unable. Anyone who knows ways to edit cargo information?
Creeper_NoDenial (talk) 13:19, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
An admin seems to have fixed it, try purging the page and see if it works. --172.58.175.26 13:21, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
Yep now it's gone. Great! Creeper_NoDenial (talk) 13:25, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

Time fairies hang around

I had one spawn, and lingered in one place. It stayed for almost exactly 5 minutes (arrived at ~8:23PM, left at ~1:19 AM). Confirmation on the spawn being 5 minutes before they vanish of their own accord (if they haven't led someone to a treasure)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.39.111.222 (talk) at 02:06, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

Fairies that are still searching for treasure will hang around for exactly 18000 frames (i.e. 300 seconds, or 5 minutes) before they bugger off. MageKing17 (talk) 06:52, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
I just had a fairy following me, and it chimed and started moving as though it found treasure, but I was taking my time following it because there was some stuff I wanted on the way. Before I could reach whatever it was after, it gave up and quickly flew up off the top left of the screen. Is it 5 minutes while searching for treasure, or is it 5 minutes maximum, regardless of if they are still searching or not? After reading the page on fairies I was under the impression that as long as it had found treasure and was actively leading me, it wouldn't abandon me. But that's definitely what just happened. Zichqec (talk) 03:59, 28 December 2022 (UTC)
It's 5 minutes maximum, counted from the moment the fairy spawns (usually off-screen, so the time it's visible is a bit shorter) or is released. When reaching this mark, it always starts flying off and despawning, no matter if it's leading the player to treasure or not. I understand that the previous wording was misleading and tried to improve it now. Feel free to make it clearer. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 18:45, 27 January 2023 (UTC)

Scared fairies?

I killed a fairy for the Bestiary entry, and now fairies fly away from me in a straight line without leading me to treasure, no matter what I hold or do. Is this a thing? 108.217.54.150 00:18, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

They always run away if a player gets close, if they're not treasure-seeking. MageKing17 (talk) 06:52, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Fairy spawning

I feel like we need more information on how surface fairies spawn, even if it’s just saying what does not effect their spawning. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.26.5.70 at 17:28, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Fairy spawning

I was able to get some fairies to spawn with x0.1 spawn rate I have no idea if this was pure luck or not — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.26.5.70 at 14:15, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
