Invite friends on GOG version

I just bought Terraria from Gog

I want to run terraria in server mode with a steam version of Terraria on another PC on my LAN

The Gog version does not have INVITE Friends as an option in Settings

What am I doing wrong?

Cross-platform PC/iPad?

Hello,

I just got Terraria yesterday, and I want to play multiplayer with my brother. I have a PC, and my brother has an iPad. Are there any way that my brother can play with me on Terrariaserver. I've already set up a server on my computer, but I don't know to connect to the server on iPad.

Thank you, Hoatvu995 (talk) 02:29, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

There is no crossplay between versions of Terraria, not even between other consoles or mobile devices. They are essentially different games with different version numbers and content between them. PC servers can only host PC players. Gearzein (talk) 09:53, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Do debuffs work in PvP in 1.3.5.3?

I did some very limited testing and it seemed like they don't work, but it was on a random tshock server so wouldn't be valid either way.
Some pages on the internet say they do, some say/imply they don't.
Code seems to have StatusPvP(...), but there's a lot of digging I'd need to do to determine if it's actually called(and if it even is responsible for pvp debuffs).
Version 1.2.3.1 changelog says "Fixed bug where frostburn wasn't applied in pvp when using flower of frost."

Best I can guess is that debuffs used to work at some point, but were then disabled.

If someone could point me to a changelog or official(ish) forum post about disabling pvp debuffs, that'd be great, but I'll also appreciate your 1st hand experience from vanilla(not tshock) whether they work or not. 88.193.92.203 07:11, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

I tested it on a vanilla server, and for the most part, debuffs can be inflicted, though with a plethora of bugs involving syncing. I tested with On Fire!, Frostburn, Cursed Inferno, and Shadowflame (Shadowflame couldn't be inflicted), are there any other debuffs you noticed not being inflicted? I'm guessing this is going into bug report territory. – KM100 (talk) 16:25, 31 May 2017 (UTC)
My testing was very limited, 8 tries with flower of frost which has 50% chance to inflict, plus on a tshock server I did not know so there could have been any number of reasons for it not to work. Reason I started wondering was because some(most?) debuff pages don't list extended duration for expert mode in 'From player' tables, while Frostburn does. Searching the internet only added to confusion, so I thought I'd try asking here(should have asked on forums, sorry), before I continue digging the code. Now that I have a confirmation that they do work, I'll go back to digging. Thank you for the information and your time. 88.193.92.203 17:12, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

Mobile-3DS Multiplayer?

Can 3DS and mobile play together? Lepspring (talk) 15:40, 16 April 2019 (UTC)

No, obviously. They run on different versions. Also, Terraria has no crossplay over all platforms, meaning that mobile can only play with mobile players, ps4 only with ps4, and so on. -- Murrayzero (talk) 15:45, 16 April 2019 (UTC)

Cross-platform Switch/Xbox One?

Hey, i was wondering that if both the consoles have the same update on them, would it be able to cross platform? I'm currently trying to do multiplayer with a friend and i'm on Switch and he is on Xbox One.

Thanks,
Drew, a terraria god

Cross-platform multiplayer on Switch and Xbox One is currently not possible, as far as I know. Switch is equivalent to Desktop version 1.3.0.7 while Xbox One is equivalent to Desktop version 1.3.4. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 23:43, 8 November 2019 (UTC)

Bosses

So I've heard that when you're in multiplayer, the bosses gain more health depending on how many players you have in the world, so, how much do they gain per player?Sirdoomface (talk) 03:00, 11 February 2020 (UTC)

That fact is documented in the Notes section of this base page, Multiplayer#Notes. The link to Expert mode there will take you to Expert mode, where, in the Bosses section, very detailed information about this mechanic is provided. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 11:23, 11 February 2020 (UTC)

Mobile Multiplayer

Is there a way that two people can have pvp on and be able to see each other on the map? I have always wanted to try speedrunner vs hunter and this is the only thing that comes to mind as a speedrunner "compass" Is there a different way orrrr. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.49.87.231 at 21:30, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

No, they must be on the same team to be able to see each others locations FLA5H4420 (talk) 22:41, 21 January 2024 (UTC)
