The traveling merchant can throw a party

Ok. but read this article segment. "There are at least five eligible town NPCs present, i.e. those who can throw a Party. Eligible NPCs include the Traveling Merchant, but not town pets, the Old Man, and the Skeleton Merchant." {{unsigned/l10)
