Gravestones

Can confirm that gravestones that bounce onto the planter boxes will break the plants and seed. I left my computer on to grow mushroom grass, came back and a goblin army massacred me a bunch of times. My planters were right underneath spawn so some of them got destroyed by the gravestones. Placement

It's probably worth noting that the Planter Boxes can be placed like blocks, instead of as furniture. You can attach them to walls and the sides of structures without blocks below them to support them. They also act as platforms, allowing players to stand on top of them, and drop through them by pressing down(S). Also Crimson worlds get Deathweed Planters with red grass rather than purple. --ValornTheRed (talk) 19:03, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Fireblossoms seem to grow without lava when using planter box, so they're not completely useless... they only took ages to grow, nice

That's actually a change in the Fireblossom, not specifically the planter box. Fireblossom now blooms at sunset and is uprooted, like other plants, when exposed to lava. At least it isn't destroyed by the lava like the others. --ValornTheRed (talk) 19:44, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Pickaxe

Do herbs in these require a pickaxe to harvest? - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 16:01, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Like a clay pot, herbs planted in these require a pickaxe or Staff of Regrowth to harvest. --ValornTheRed (talk) 18:29, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Deathweed Planters

It says that it's restricted until the respective boss is defeated, but what if both EoW and BoC are defeated in the same world? Would the Dryad sell both, or is it actually world-specific?

It is world-specific. Zsashas (talk) 15:00, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

Links to each of the herbs

Hey there. I was trying to find a way to add links to each of the herbs in the item name, but I couldn't figure out how to do it without breaking the table. Can someone smarter do it for me? HnZ88 (talk) 14:29, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

Unfortunately this isn't possible, due to how the Item template works. I'll ask the others about it. - Murrayzero (talk) 14:44, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

Growth Speed

Does the growth speed increase when herbs are planted in their corresponding planter boxes? BadPiggy1024 (talk) 03:55, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

No, it makes no difference if the corresponding planter box is used, it's purely cosmetic. Metalax (talk) 12:50, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

Staff of Growth makes Planter Boxes not very useful

When an herb is planted on the proper terrain block, it can be harvested with the Staff of Regrowth if fully grown, even when it is not in bloom.

This isn't the case for plants in a planter box, which always need to be blooming to produce seed.

This makes plain blocks much better to harvest Deathweed, which is only blooming during Full and Blood moons, but it also helps with Blinkroot (random bloom), Waterleaf (needs rain) and Shiverthorn (long delay before bloom).

Not in Multiplayer though, doesn't work, but be careful of accidentally destroying immature sprouts. Also, I wonder, does the yield increase if the herb is blooming or not? ThreepleX (talk) 18:19, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
