"Get rekt" trivia

For some reason I can't edit this page. I think the statement about this item referencing meme 'get rekt' is overexaggerated. It is simply an abbreviation of Rares-Enemies-Kills. Item name is REK, not REKT, or REKD, or WRECKED (as 'rekt' should be spelled). Personally I think this meme itself is stupid and comes from overreacting kids, there shouldn't be place for it in Terraria. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.105.181.47 at 08:53, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

You likely can't edit the page because you're just trying to remove the section entirely. The filter interprets this as a harmful act.
The acronym R.E.K. would be pronounced "wreck" if said aloud, and the developers have a history of adding goofy memes to the game, so it's not unprecedented. It's entirely possible that both are true, as words and phrases often have multiple meanings. I'm not particularly inclined to support its removal, as it's the first thing that came to mind when I saw the name in-game, and quite honestly putting your bias at the forefront isn't moving my opinion in your favor or assuring me that its removal is an act of good faith and not the execution of a personal agenda. "I think this is stupid" has never been grounds enough to remove something from the wiki. Gearzein (talk) 14:11, 3 July 2015 (UTC)
Well, so maybe it's my biasm, but prove me wrong that 'get rekt' is not an offensive and aggressive meme originating from games like CoD or CS, used only to discourage defeated opponents. I thought it shouldn't be mentioned here for that reason. That being said, REK is acronym of Rares-Enemies-Kills and doesn't contribute in any way to multiplayer, doesn't add bonus to attacking enemies, it's only helpful with showing the number of enemies on the screen, and "rekt" mobs count.
I see how this being a reference is a possibility, but since I'm against spreading of aggresive themes, I find 'rekd' phrase to be somewhat bad. I just wish to remove false assumptions, I mean no harm. I called this meme 'stupid' since it's obviously not 'smart', english is not my native language. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.105.181.47 at 08:30, 7 July 2015 (UTC)
My point wasn't whether you were right or wrong, but specifically that those types of opinions have no bearing on what is or isn't included on the wiki. I might roll my eyes every time my angler hands me a Master Bait, but I'm not at liberty to remove mentions of it just because I find it distasteful. Proving to me that it comes from a thing that you don't like won't achieve anything. That said, in light of the recent swell of speculation and trivia on the wiki, I'm going to go ahead and remove it for the time being until it's sourced. Gearzein (talk) 13:42, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Fallout reference

While the 3000 part is probably a reference to PipBoy 3000, the second part of the reference is incorrect. The item in question is called G.E.C.K, not G.E.K. Can't bother to edit it myself though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.65.89.242 at 18:27, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Added, thanks. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 23:33, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
