The {{categories}} template is to be placed on REDIRECT pages only.
It will add the redirect to the categories listed on the redirected page.
It can also be used to place the item in exclusivity categories such as [[Category:Mobile content]]. (see [[Shadow Mummy]])

Purpose: Mainly to add items to dpl lists that rely on the item existing in a particular category.
 Can also be used to clarify that an item is an exclusive item (the exclusivity will change automatically if it's redirect's exclusivity changes, such as when desktop-only content is added to console)
 Exclusivity is used by the {{eicons}} template, and subsequently the {{item link}}, {{il2c}}, and {{crafts row}} templates.

Usage: {{categories|tag1|tag2|tag3|tag4|etc...|named param=value}}

Allowed tags:
platform (or content)
hardmode (will only be added if redirected page is in [[Category:Hardmode-only items]])
introduced
rarity

Named parameters can be used to place the redirect in additional categories:
hardmode=yes
rarity=#
introduced=#.#
drop=yes
desktop=yes
console=yes
mobile=yes
3ds=yes
curgen=yes (won't be used until 1.3 hits consoles)
oldgen=yes (won't be used until 1.3 hits consoles)

Example:{{categories|platforms|hardmode=yes}} will add the redirect to [[Category:<platform> content]] and place it in [[Category:Hardmode-only items]].
