Killing a Lost Girl without transformation

Lost Girl has different stats than Nymph...is it possible to kill a Lost Girl without it "transforming"?? - 71.90.44.109 08:36, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

If other (actual) friendly NPCs are any indication, a bucket of Lava, carefully contained and dumped out just outside of the range that triggers her transformation, might be the answer you seek. Of course, that takes a bit more work than simply letting her transform and then killing her. 173.228.18.230 18:25, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

I think you actually can, but it's fleshes that drop upon death will be nymph's I used an influx waver to test out about it and it didnt drop money like the wiki said(in nymph form) Player2170 (talk) 20:42, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

After first encounter…

From the notes: "The nymph won't appear as lost girl anymore after 1st encounter". I'm quite sure this is incorrect; perhaps it wasn't in an older version? I'm playing 1.2.2 and the lost girl has appeared in my world numerous times. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.147.149.218 at 09:45, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

There is more than one lost girl/nymph in the world Avid2474 (talk) 08:59, 24 June 2020 (UTC)

nomination of trivia for deletion...

Is the line "Could be inspired by numerous characters in popular culture that bait heroes by appearing harmless and in need of assistance." too obvious, too uncertain (both of which would violate the style guide), or neither? To me, it feels really unnecessary. --Macks2008 (talk) 03:28, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

To be honest, most trivia s pretty frivolous. There's not much need for a committee or anything for something that small- go ahead and remove stuff you feel is out of place or make changes and improvements as you see fit. It's a wiki, after all, so if someone does screw something up, it doesn't take a lot of work to set it back the way it was. Be bold and go nuts. Gearzein (talk) 03:35, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

Farming for Metal Detector

So, like basically every player, I'm trying to make the cellphone. I need to get the metal detector but can't seem to find a nymph. I have a tunnel reaching from one end of the snow biome to the other, around 884 feet below surface, and am using battle potions. I've managed to grab like 15 depth meters from the farm but no nymph has been generous enough to sacrifice itself to me. Does anyone have any tips on how to get her to appear? - User-12316399 (talk) 15:43, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

As of the update, they seem to spawn frequently near hell. I've noticed at least 2 distinct nymph spawns, and possibly more, near hell.--Macks2008 (talk) 05:17, 21 July 2015 (UTC)
Actually, I get the feeling Nymphs were never quite as rare as people thought -- they're just passive and stand still in the dark, rather than seeking out and attacking players, so they're easy to miss. Once I got a Lifeform Analyzer and started paying attention to it while exploring underground, it didn't take long to find them (a few of them, actually). I would've shot right past them had I not had that item to alert me. That said, the forum is generally the place to go to ask for game tips. Equazcion (talk) 05:23, 21 Jul 2015 (UTC)

Normalmode droprate 50% ARE YOU sure?

I had many, MANY very questionable situations with these droprates. Getting 5 banners from an enemy, but not a single item that was supposed to have a 2% droprate. Getting 6 Sniper rifles and not one rifle scope. And for Nymphs I killed 8 and got two detectors, this is not as unlikely as my other situations, but it's only the tip of the iceberg. Where do you guys get these droprates from? They seem vastly inaccurate.

Because of the way statistics work, a single person's anomalous experience doesn't have any bearing on the actual rates- a 2% droprate doesn't guarantee a drop every 50 kills, or even every 50,000. These droprates come directly from the source code and have a fixed probability. Whether or not your experience lines up with that varies depending on how the RNG feels that day, but ultimately the odds remain the same regardless of how many times they're tested. Gearzein (talk) 11:46, 2 January 2016 (UTC)
This is completely random drop chance based around the number stated. As for not getting the rifle scope, you're just unlucky that's all. For example, when you kill an enemy that has an item of two percent drop chance, the game randomly selects a chance of you not/getting the item. If the game happens to land on a chance where acquire the item; it is only a 2% that will happen. Percentages are not entirely accurate, for Mister the Epic Ninja got the Rod of Discord on his 8th episode. It is possible that the game selects the item twice in a row. I killed two giant bats; they both dropped the Trifold map.

Nymph spawn height

So I'm trying to get the Metal Detector. I'm on Expert Mode so I will need only 1 nymph. I made a great area with water candles at -2300' (Caverns), lots of enemies spawn every 10 seconds. But I didn't see any nymph (I'm also using Lifeform Analyzer). Will the game spawn a nymph at -2300' or lower (like -2500' or above tne Underworld)? Nymphs can spawn at lava height in Caverns?

I don't even know if someone will read this, but anyways, thanks (And sorry for my bad english).

AI

Does the Lost Girl use Fighter AI or Lost Girl AI? --Krispion666 (talk) 21:32, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

This is like asking if slimes use the slime ai. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.188.63.136 at 22:46, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

wiki already said fighter ai for nymph and lost girl in lost girl(maybe lost girl ai uses detection with line of sight Player2170 (talk) 17:22, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

Lost Girl AI

What does the lost girl AI do? Their detection range is so similar to mimics Player2170 (talk) 20:39, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

Nymph Banner Rarity

As of 1.3, banners are no longer chance drops. They drop after every 50 kills. While yes, still "one of the rarest items in the game," if I am to believe by the Lifeform Analyzer page, a Nymph is only rated at a rarity of 1 as opposed to say, Tim, who has a rarity of 4. Perhaps a change to say, "before the banner rework the Nymph Banner was one of the rarest items in the game, as banner drops used to be a 0.5% chance. Honestly, not that big of a deal, but just petty housekeeping. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johannesburgy (talk • contribs) at 04:39, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

Sure, I have slightly reworded the sentence and added the pre-1.3 version icons for which the drop chance is still 0.5%. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 15:24, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

No AI

I believe the Lost Girl AI is a variation of No AI — Preceding unsigned comment added by SpaghettiMawn (talk • contribs) at 18:35, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

It's certainly similar, though it's still given a different AI value in code. KM100 (talk) 21:04, 31 May 2021 (UTC)
