Superheated Blood

Playing Expert mode 1.4.02 Pre-Hardmode and can get Superheated Blood from Obsidian crates. Can anyone confirm?

Yes. Got two Superheated Blood, as well as multiple Lava sponges and an infinite lava bucket. I'm just mentioning those, because their water equivalents are Hard Mode only.

Incorrect drops?

As far as I can tell, the Bottomless Lava Bucket and Super Absorbent Lava Sponge can only be obtained directly from fishing and the Slice of Hell Cake and Ornate Shadow Key might be Obsidian Lock Box drops falsely listed here. Can anyone confirm?

Anecdotal Data on Loot

Just opened 31 crates and got this loot (cleared invent first). Looks like the Lavaproof Hook is the most common drop, probably a 33% chance. I'd guess the flamewalkers and superheated blood are both 10%, and the lava charm and slice of cake are both quite rare.

Version is 1.4.0.3, Master Mode

Slice of Hell Cake and Ornate Shadow Key drop

Hello all; could someone verify whether the Obsidian Crate drops different things in pre-hardmode vs. hardmode (namely, the two items listed above)? I'd like to clear this up since it's been edited back and forth a few times. -- Breathlessblizzard (talk) 23:28, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

• They do not. No crate drops depend on whether or not it is currently Hardmode, but rather, whether the type of Crate is pre- or post-Hardmode. (Information taken from the  Desktop 1.4.0.5 source code, method OpenFishingCrate() in Terraria.Player.cs There may be inaccuracies, as the current  Desktop version is 1.4.4.9.) - Fistsh (talk) 04:26, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
