Does anybody know how much corruption is removed?

For all i have noticed, a 5x6-7 area the way you're facing is changed. If we would include tips etc on pages, then purification powder is great for getting to shadow orbs easier while still being early in game, since then you don't need End-Game pick-axe, and you only need a few powders to get to the orb. -Chicunsu
Purification Powder requires a Dryad which only comes when you've defeated a boss. Dynamite is purchaseable from the Demolitionist whose only requirement is that you have an explosive on you. Given that finding a bomb in a pot underground is far easier than defeating a boss in the early game and dynamite can blow up ebonstone I'd say that using Purification Powder to get to shadow orbs faster is rather like going around your elbow to get to your thumb. I mostly meet Dr.Bones quite early in-game during night, and he is EASY, and i didn't find many dynamites underground after latest patch... might just be my bad luck though -Chicunsu
Wait but Dr.Bones is not a boss...
While I'll admit finding bombs is practically inevitable when you go exploring/mining, the Eye of Cthulu is fairly easy to defeat, and I've not been lucky in finding a steady supply of explosives so I'd rather have the Dryad around to buy Purification Powder from. - Spinfx 01:55, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
All the pictures seem to show the AoE at 6x5, but I've never been able to reproduce it while standing. When I tested it, the AoE when used horizontally seemed to technically be 9x4, with the effect extended one tile below and one tile behind the player. Same goes when used vertically, with the area extending one tile below and one to either side of the player. That being said, the practical range was 6x4, so at the very least we can say the range is ~6 cells (since diagonals behave oddly). -User:BaronVonMew
