50% fishing power

Can it be caught with less than 50% fishing power? Perhaps we should specify the algorithm just a *little* bit more.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dastrn (talk • contribs) at 5:41, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Yes, it can be caught with less than 50% fishing power. Those numbers are just examples. Nothing really becomes uncatchable with low fishing power; they can merely become extremely unlikely. This is according to my understanding, at least -- fishing is one of the more complex drop calculations that go on in Terraria, and I don't have a complete grasp of it. You can find info on this mechanic at the top of the Fishing page, with some added info in its Notes section. Equazcion (talk) 19:53, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Mining speed

"It is about 4.5% faster than the Molten Pickaxe." This is very misleading, because both the Reaver Shark and the Molten Pickaxe have the same mining speed of 18. The 4.5% difference only exists for the use time, which merely affects the speed of the swing. While that makes a difference for combat uses, the mining speed is unaffected by that value. Ok what the heck

I have fished way too long for the Reaver Shark. In the process I've gotten: 8 sawtooth sharks, 10 swordfish and 3 balloon pufferfish. I'm fishing with a fisher of souls with average bait such as fireflies and assorted baits from the Angler, is there something I'm doing wrong because this seems ridiculous. FinNyx is awesome <3~

Reaver Shark is not the best

"The Reaver Shark is the best pre-Hardmode pickaxe for mining almost any material that it can mine, except for Stone/Hard tiles, which the Molten Pickaxe is still slightly faster for." This is not really true, the Bone Pickaxe is faster than the Reaver Shark at mining both stone and dirt. I don't know if I should remove this section from the page or edit it, someone that knows better can decide.
