Preferred methods of gold farming?

I've had a character post-Moon Lord (Expert Mode) for quite some time now and have been working on my original world off and on, building new projects and trying (and failing) to contain the Corruption and Hallow.

My most recent project has been a flying ship that serves as my home base, and part of it includes a treasure vault. I'm trying to fill it with Platinum coins but it'll take some time. I've tried a few different farming methods but none have really jumped out at me, and I don't want the grind to get too boring. Besides, I need to stockpile gold for when I start a new character and want to get good modifiers (my most recent one had some bad luck and ran through 5 plat just to get the right mod on a pair of Frostspark Boots).

What're your favorite methods of farming gold and other resources?
