Mimics affected

Sources of natural Spelunker Potions

The potion can be obtained from at least some underground Chests. I have also identified that it can be dropped from at least one Surface monster, however the identity of that monster has not yet been determined.

The drop was noticed shortly after a Blood Moon and in an area that is Forest biome but also very close to synthetic Jungle and Mushroom Biomes, so it is difficult for me to say for certain at this time just what may have dropped it. It was likely killed off-screen by one of my minions, thus I did not see it drop.

The Drops page does not list any monster dropping that item, yet as it was found on the ground not near a Chest or Pot in an area that I have well and thoroughly trafficked, and given that I have virtually never carried Spelunker potions with me, it appears that the only reasonable conclusion is that there is now some monster that drops Spelunker potions. By noting that possibility, I believe it encourages other users to help identify that monster and contribute the information to the wiki, which is why I attempted to add it to the article, though that change was subsequently reverted. I have since noticed two more drop in the same area on a night with no Blood Moon. Based on the sounds of the mobs dying, I highly suspect the Wraith, however I still have yet to witness the actual drop. I do not believe any Jungle monsters had spawned or been killed in that area, and so Hardmode Forest monsters which spawn at night are the most likely candidates. It's likely that the Speluner Potions are being dropped by slimes, which have a rare chance of having them as a "bonus item". This information is already listed on the Slime page, but feel free to add it to the page if you wish. –KM100 ^(talk) 02:09, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

I will keep that in mind, that seems far more probable at this point. I fear I will need to use water candles and battle potions and a lack of minions if I ever hope to nail it down. Esaelon (talk) 04:44, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Update pictures for 1.3
