Bug?

Are we sure that the inability to summon the WoF after dying is a bug? I believe it might just be that the WoF doesn't disappear if you die, and you can't have more than one at the same time. Cromage 07:08, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

-I have died and returned to the underworld to find it continuing it march with the same health as I left it, so no i wouldn't call it a bug; there should not be two WoF at the same time

The Hungry

Hey! I hope this gets answered, but just to note something, on the 1.1 trailer, it shows something called "The Hungry", which has 80 max health. It occurs at 2:48, and it is hard so spot. I am not sure of whether it is part of the body, or if it is the worm/maggot things spawned. I just thought it was noteworthy. Thanks!

There was definately something called the hungry, but with 240 max health

Redirect

I added a redirect from "Wall of flesh" to here. Just a fyi. --Deltalon 13:21, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Emblems

So far I have noticed a Archery Emblem, which gives +15% ranged damage, and I'm assuming there's a mage one as well. Also, The Pwnhammer is a 100% drop, yet the others are completely random from what I've seen, and you only get one other item. Add this in?

I'd add that you get everything but the Pwnhammer as a random chance drop, also, next time, please sign your post. Deltalon 20:34, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Ah, I'm sorry. I always forget about that. Fixed it though. I've also noticed that whenever an emblem drops, it NEVER gives a +1 or a +2 buff to anything: as in it can give +3 movement speed as a buff along with the normal one (+15% to whatever) but NEVER a +1 to defense or a +2 to damage, and I've fought him roughly.... I'd say at least a few dozen times by now with some friends. Of course, I could just be too lucky for my own good, but I doubt it. 71.190.91.239 15:34, 3 December 2011 (UTC

I found a spiked (+2) warrior emblem so I guess you were just lucky 74.95.168.49 13:25, 19 January 2012 (UTC)

Breaker Blade

Only the Pwnhammer has 100% drop rate; Breaker Blade does not. --darrenalilim 00:31, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

What happens, if I throw a guide voodoo doll in lava while the WOF is already present? --91.54.180.149 21:47, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Nothing, I believe. Cromage 07:08, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Besides the guide dieing of course, assuming another has arrived (which is a requirement for the wall of flesh to begin with) --Tails 17:06, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

I actually killed WOF for the first time and did not receive the Pwnhammer.

It is possible for the Pwnhammer to drop outside of the demonite box, causing it to fall into lava. 74.95.168.49 16:18, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

i can definitly say that the droprate of all secondary ittems is not the same with 16,7%. with the most rare ending: meele emblem, range emblem, sorcerer emblem, braeker blade, assault rifle, laser rifle. after defeating about 20 wall of fleshs you can see that the emblems are really often dropped, but the two rifles most rare.

I think the droprate might depend on what you use to defeat him with. I have killed him about 10 different times and still have yet to get either a melee emblem or a ranged emblem, but I have gotten 1 breaker blade, 3 assault rifles, 3 laser rifles, and 3 sorcerer emblems. (I mostly used magic to kill him but I used ranged weapons occasionally) 74.95.168.49 16:18, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

I killed the wall of flesh 25 times. I got:
25 (~100%) pwnhammer
6 (~36%) breaker blade
5 (~20%) melee emblem
4 (~16%) magic emblem
4 (~16%) ranged emblem
4 (~16%) clockwork assault rifle
1 (~4%) laser rifle
Was it just bad luck on the laser rifle? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.187.207.75 (talk).

Or we just read the source code, see it is 1 in 6 chance for all items and stop this discussion. --Icke 00:04, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

I have killed the Wall numerous times, and I have only gotten Elblems... Is this a glitch with his drops, or am I just not lucky? - Derpul

Eighter you have the console version of the game (I don't have the source code of that, so I can't confirm the drop rates) or you're just unlucky. --0icke0 (talk) 08:45, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Old image

For some reason the page shows the old image of File:Wall of Flesh.png in the infobox. Is this happening to anyone else? I can't figure out what the deal is.--GauHelldragon 23:15, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

The wiki updates the image, but doesn't give it a new name. Instead it gives the old picture a new name. As a result of that you need to clear your browsers cache in order to see the new pictures. --Icke 00:08, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Page broken

What the heck happened here? I'm seeing a whole lot of code, and no images. --Tails 17:09, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Has Anyone actually observed the Boss hanging out after its death?

Because I have not. When I defeat the wall, it spawns the demonite box of goodies, and the boss itself shatters into like a hundred fleshy pieces, scattered along the rest of the terrain (much like other creatures do).

So is it just me, or should we redact that line in the main page about it staying alive until it reaches the edge of the map? Xirema 04:25, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

If YOU die, not if WoF is killed. I personally think distinction between "died" (player) and "killed" (mob) is clear enough for most people to not think like wall persists after it was killed. --Barhandar 05:35, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
Ah. Misread. Carry on then. --Xirema 03:48, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Image problem

Is there something wrong with my computer(?), because the image I see is the retarded looking screenshot from the trailer, not the professional looking one. And when I go to the file and click the better one, it just shows me the crappy one still. Vegeta 00:52, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Hardmode warning?

Considering the heated forums threads from players who didn't expect hardmode to be that savage, especially the builder-types, shouldn't some kind of warning be put up on the page? Something along the lines that defeating this boss activates hardmode and that there's no going back. I'm fairly sure the casual players among us will appreciate knowing that this is an irreversible action. - Spinfx 13:10, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

wall of flesh turned easy in seconds, via new strategy?

get an "unreal megashark" build a platform, buy ALOT of musket balls = new tactic of easy boss beating and farming?its not that im worried about it being beaten easily mutliple times (becuase the items hard enough to get as is, and as such its drops should be your choice in farming), but i worry about the bugs becuase platforms can make this strategy fail if they eyes and mouth move towards the blocks of platforms, getting stuck inside them, and the extra debuffyou can get basically one shottng you, instead of pulling you closer is pulling you away and into lava if you jump at said time. this bug could be the flaw of many "brute wins" strategies for hardmode end game players, these "flaws" needing to be fixed as soon as possible

I thought the mega shark was a hardmode item... you must mean the minishark! and... i still died using this stratedgy! xD 205.211.96.100 17:57, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

question: magic mirror in nether spawn

if you spawn with a magic mirrpr while in the nether to another spot in thhe nether can this be used to catch up to the WoF when you die? or get behind it? or do YOU die everytime you use themagic mirror regardless of spawn point?

Nether? This isn't Minecraft. But I highly doubt you can get away to ANYWHERE in your world with the Magic Mirror while fighting the WoF. TheOnlyMechaDog 21:22, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

question: random spawn when you are in the underworld?

I was goofing in the underworld killing demons and all of the sudden it said that the wall of flesh has awoken! Is this a glitch or did one of the voodoo demons drop their doll thingies in the lava? Please help.

I'm going to guess it was the latter. This has happened to me multiple times

Were you using ranged/magic weapons? If you were shooting wildly with a weapon that can hit from a distance, or especially if it's piercing (Demon Scythe, Water Bolt, any gun with Meteor Shot bullets), I would theorize you could have killed a voodoo demon offscreen. --Adam222 16:12, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Trivia

Moved to the talk page here from the article. Anything without black-and-white confirmation from the devs is unsourced speculation. Normally I simply nuke them but this seemed to have taken a modicum of effort and wasn't simply crazy talk like most rumour entries, so out of respect for that I cut-pasted the text instead of just revert deleting it. Text follows:

  • The Wall of Flesh appears to have a symbolic meaning. "Flesh" may refer to living creatures, and the fact that it is a wall may refer to it being "the" wall between you and the "Ancient Spirits of Light and Darkness". Killing the Wall of Flesh turns your world into a battlefield between Light (The Hallow) and Darkness (The Corruption), and although they battle for dominance, you are still caught up between them. As The Hallow and The Corruption can spread over anything but eachother, your house (wherever you may have built it) will eventually be overtaken by one. Symbolically, this means that even if your house is in neutral territory, you cannot remain neutral. You may pick your side early by starting an artificial Hallow or Corruption biome near your house, but if you do not, you are forced to join a side very soon.

WOF in cavern layer.

I have added a trivia section to say that's sometime the eye the mouthe and the hungy are spawning in the cavern layer and someone deleted it with no reason. In a world with a big Hole start form the hell and go to space and the WOF is alway just a invicible wall and when i die i am respawning in the cavern layer and I see the hungry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.167.250.45

It's because they never spawned in the cavern layer, but they simply move forward/up when you try to escape and when you respawn you encounter them again. --Icke 12:12, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

Hardmode trigger

Referencing this edit.

The hardmode trigger is caused by the function WorldGen.StartHardMode(). If you disassemble terraria.exe with ILSpy, you can look for it in WorldGen.cs. This function, in turn, is called at only one place: NPC.NPCLoot() (in NPC.cs). Here is the snippet of relevant code (the function is quite huge):

if ((this.type == 0x71) && (Main.netMode != 1))
{
    WorldGen.StartHardmode();
}

What is 0x71? It's the type of the NPC that calls the loot function because it died. 0x is the prefix showing it's a hexadecimal number, in decimal notation it's 113. Now take a look here and search for which NPC has an ID of 113. There's a hint in the title of this talk page. :p --SorryThatUsernameIsAlreadyTaken (talk) 15:06, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Bug overload

Anyway we can clean up the bug report section of this article? Some of these are suspicious (for pwnhammer not dropping is likely the hammer trying to be picked up when flying by the box then falling in the lava), impossible to prove or likely fixed in 1.2. --71.55.136.208 23:08, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Wall of Flesh Trophy odds?

I have killed Wall of Flesh 26 times and this is what I got"

26x Pawn Hammers
8x Assault Rifles
6x Break Blades
3x Laser Rifles
4x Warrior Emblems
2x Sorcerer Emblems
2x Ranger Emblems
and Zero Wall of Flesh Trophies

Will update this at 40 kills and see what I get. The Wall always drops Pawn Hammer plus one other item from it's drop list; the chance of a trophy may be less than 10% actually, don't know if it drops in place of an item or in addition to the regular items. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.125.26.132 at 22:26, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Addendum - on the 34th kill i finally got a trophy, is this just bad luck? - Steam User: Token63 - 15 October, 2103 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.125.26.132 at 23:34, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Data comes from source code and is accurte. It doesn't drop instead of another item. (The chance of not having a trophy after 33 kills is about 3%, so there will be quite some people that share your problem.) --0icke0 (talk) 10:27, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
