Tempest Staff

We should consider adding the Tempest Staff as a viable summoner weapon since it's buff in 1.4.4. In my own testing, I found it to be about on par with the Raven Staff, and performing slightly better in the second phase. This was done using the Witch's Broom so the AI was less of an issue. Both performed better than the Sanguine Staff as it was nerfed pretty significantly. Previous tests cited were done before the update. Rudellius (talk) 20:23, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

Turtle Armor

Would turtle armor work against day empress as a way to shorten the fight by using thorns on her dash? Just wondering since she deals 10000+ damage per hit. Gearsodic Associate. 13:58, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

> As far as i'm aware the Empress is protected against Thorn Effects to prevent this exact strategy from working. I can't remember if the Thorns damage is capped or if she straight up doesn't take any, but the point is that this stategy will not work. Bame66 (talk) 21:04, 18 July 2021 (UTC)

Improved Downwards Thrust

Personally, I used the Slimy Saddle (Slime Mount) / Gelatinous Pillion (Winged Slime Mount) for quick downwards evasion while fighting in the air, but I'm unsure if that's an effective tactic in the grand scheme of things. I'm "old" and my reaction speed isn't the best, so using this helped me personally. Under no circumstances would I use the Winged Slime Mount as a substitute for wings though - it's just something extra. --192.160.102.166 18:00, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

That's not at all a bad strategy, in fact that's the thing that makes the Slime Saddles two of the best mounts in the game, since they are the only way to accelerate downwards in this game. They will likely be added in as the guide gets updated. Bame66 (talk) 18:17, 27 May 2020 (UTC)

Dodging the attacks in expert/master mode is a lot easier with the extra mounts

I found that the Shrimpy Truffle (in the rain) and the Black Spot can move fast enough to keep pushing the empress of light off-screen. It makes the fight a breeze if you're playing in expert/master mode, letting you equip an extra accessory in place of wings since they can be replaced entirely. This works but if you move against prismatic bolts once they start charging at you its Best to move in opposite direction of them. Redybird (talk) 22:44, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Piranha Gun being suggested is very dubious

It says "providing consistent and strong DPS with homing capabilities." This seems like it was pure theory and no practice. The DPS is decent, however it is NOT consistent. She frequently shakes off Piranhas with her dashes and even worse they have trouble staying on her. Reapplying Piranhas is also not easy, and even next to impossible during her Rainbow Dance attack, because she zones out the max Piranhas range, whereas it is the best opportunity for other weapons to deal maximum damage. I've done some 30 runs with Piranha Gun in daytime and it's just a massive headache. Even guns without homing capabilities but faster projectiles are better than Piranha Gun in my opinion. I would strongly suggest removing it from the recommended gear.

Razorblade typhoon is actually a good main weapon

For some reason it says that razorblade typhoon should be used as a secondary, but I was fighting her in expert with 2 people (Using the healer set so the damage was lowered by 40%) and it works much better than the razorpine, as its projectiles almost never hit. If you're a mage, definitly use the razorblade typhoon as your main weapon, you can just fire it at her icon on the minimap if shes offscreen too

Someone actually studied which weapons do good against her, and Razorblade Typhoon actually did the best out of every 'safe homing' weapon that you can get before the Pillars: https://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/a-ton-of-weapons-tested-against-empress-of-light.104767/
The Martian Madness magic weapons did a little better but were harder to aim. So I agree with you.Mathbrush1 (talk) 17:31, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

Deadly Sphere Staff never mentioned

The Deadly Sphere Staff should be added to the page as it acts as a far more reliable Raven Staff in the vast majority of cases. It is easily the best pre-Golem summon weapon one could use against her as the others have trouble hitting or simply don't do enough damage without heavy setup that would grant even more of a reward on the stronger weapons. I forgot to add the video I recorded showing this off! Here's that. SpectreSkirt (talk) 19:39, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
