Is ice an element?

There has recently been an edit war in the trivia section about whether ice is an element or not. It would be nice to have an answer to this question from some more experienced user so the edit war could end. 109.240.233.92 14:43, 25 December 2017

The idea of "what is an element" is something that's changed a lot over the century. While modern chemistry talks about nucleon counts, games tend to use one of the older mythical or magical systems, where the elements are aspects of nature. The best-known of these in the West is the ancient Greek system of earth, air, fire, and water, but there are many other such systems (the Chinese five-element cycle is a major competitor). There are a lot of "elemental forces" which have been known to humans over the ages, and most of them had primal creatures associated with them! In this intensely magical and quite complex game, there's no real problem with having elemental creatures of ice, desert, or even chaos. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 20:11, 25 December 2017 (UTC)
I believe it is quite irrelevant whether or not ice is an element. Elementals can personify ANY force of nature, not just the four classical elements. I added trivia explaining the elemental's origin, and briefly how Dungeons & Dragons changed it. I believe Dungeons & Dragons played a big part in how elementals are used in Terraria. – Ferretwings (talk) 05:51, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, Ferretwings! I didn’t know the Dungeons and Dragons trivia before —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 16:16, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Spawning

It spawned for me in a Deep Underground Ice area; I don't recall if a blood moon was up or not. --Heireau (talk) 00:57, 6 October 2013 (UTC)

And for me, it spawned consistently on my ice bridge about 1000 ft in the air, which is nowhere near an underground ice biome, I think that's incorrect. --Samario (talk) 21:53, 14 October 2013 (GMT)
