What height is considered "Lava Layer"?

The description says that Lava Charm can be found only in the lava layer at PC. But I couldn't find any explanation what does it mean. Is it a layer where lava starts appearing instead of water or is it a layer where lava can be seen in the background? There's a huge difference between the two. 91.237.121.89 08:02, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

It's the depth where water is replaced by lava iin worldgen. It isn't a fixed number so that's why we can't write "under a depth of n feet" --Lightg4 (talk) 08:18, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Jungle

Possibly found more often in the jungle? Bantya (talk) 20:18, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply. Having played pre-1.4.0.x a lot I would say that I found about "as many or more" Lava Charms in the underground desert than I have found in the underground jungle. I suspect that's just a matter of environmental structure playing into the Lava Charm appearing as more common in these zones: Both the underground desert and underground jungle are relatively open areas - and as such can be explored at a faster pace than "pure" caves.
If my theory is in fact correct, those would still be the areas to turn to, as they would yield results faster - it would just not have anything to do with world generation. Hope this helps anyone. :) --185.117.215.9 11:15, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

It's found in marble chests?

I just want to know, if someone has found one in a marble chest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Frenchiveruti (talkcontribs) at 00:29, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

No, the type of chest doesn't affect the loot found in it. As long as its in an underground chest, it has a chance of having a lava charm. –KM100 (talk) 01:06, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Location

Does it drop from chests in cave-houses or only from classic lonely chests? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.168.193.48 at 23:57, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

It can be found in any chest underground. While lonely chests don't generate anymore on the desktop version, they can still be found on worlds from older versions, and can still contain a lava charm. –KM100 (talk) 01:06, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Obtaining "tip"

the article states that the best way to obtain it is mining the entire cavern level. I don't think that's a time efficient way, especially on a new character. 89.77.180.47 20:34, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

I removed that whole section, as it was rather unhelpful. Thanks for pointing this out. Equazcion (talk) 20:49, 11 Sep 2016 (UTC)
Well what is a good way to find one? They're a major pain in the ass for me — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.203.157.131 at 16:47, 3 September 2017 (UTC)
The only good way to find one is to get some Spelunker Potions and scour the cavern level for chests. Unfortunately there's no way to get underground loot items from crates. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 00:03, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

Obtaining

Something is terribly wrong here. Looking through the history, obtaining section and latest edit, it appears that 1.4.0.1 has contradicted itself - by simultaneously adding and removing this item from the loot pool of Hellstone/Obsidian crates - in the same update. Could we get this cleared out? --2057clones (talk) 16:01, 31 August 2020 (UTC)

console

is the lava charm on console? Superzombie150 (talk) 22:01, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

Yes, it is present in any platforms --Daud ahn (talk) 22:07, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

When I tried to view the page, this popped up:[ad51b43b178624ce23fa519b] 2022-05-17 11:02:29: Fatal exception of type "Wikimedia\Rdbms\DBQueryError" SkysBane (talk) 11:05, 17 May 2022 (UTC)

Vanity visuals

in the notes it says "Unlike most necklaces, it is not visible when equipped to players or Mannequins. This also applies to the Molten Charm." however, it clearly shows that it is visible on the player model in the images bit in the top right. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scalkin (talk • contribs) at 00:06, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out. I've updated the page to specify that it only applies to old-gen/3DS. --Eraloiz (talk) 09:02, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
