Interesting notes
- Pickaxes#Effectiveness for chart of hits and pick power. (todo: fix Mining speed column on pickaxe power's table)
- Check the Bosses' "#Tips" section for the guide, eg Guide:Eye of Cthulhu strategies
- Cobalt Shield stops knockbat from bats.
- Demonite Bars are great to profit off bosses.
Important potions, pre hardmode
A sort of top 5:
- Mining Potion
- Obsidian Skin Potion for Hellstone diving
- Gravitation Potion for Sky Islands
- Healing Potion - 100hp is always useful, sends you into the Mushroom Biome. Not sure if duplicated honey is useful.
- Teleportation Potion - kinda funny, might give you a trip to the Underworld early. Bring a recall if you don't have the mirror yet.
- Pumpkin Pie
Builder Potion might be useful when sealing up guide:maintaining world purity tunnels and lasts a whopping 15 mins. Spelunker Potion is handy when your Metal Detector keeps going off. Swiftness Potion could be useful for getting around without beds/minecarts (but pie is easier to use). Archery Potion/Ammo Reservation Potion and Magic Power Potion/Mana Regeneration Potion and great for those combat classes. Try mining out a desert for glass bottles today!
Cheap materials
- smooth Granite Block - makes furniture eg doors, easy to monster farm (even statuable)
- frozen Platform - not slippery
- Pumpkin, if it drops 8+ per seed (2s50c. It looks like a random amount from 6-10 or so). (Try tree farming in a way that avoids flowers, maybe?)
- Frostburn Arrows - very cheap, good improvement over regular flaming arrows.
- Fireplace (use a furnace for Gray Brick material)
- Stone Slab, for when you don't want to use something else but need it to be corruption resistant.
