Munten zijn Terraria's hoofdeenheid van geld. Ze zijn hoofdzakelijk gebruikt voor NPC transacties, ook zullen spelers het accepteren als een betalingsvorm in Multiplayer. Munten kunnen ook worden gebruikt in munitie voor het Munt Geweer. Er zijn op dit moment 4 types van munten: Koperen Munten, Zilveren Munten, Gouden Munten en Platinum Munten.
Munten kunnen worden verkregen via het doden van vijanden, interacties met NPCs, of door ze te vinden als buit in verschillende manieren. Deze munten kunnen echter niet kunnen omgezet naar hun oorspronkelijke erts. Dit betekent dat je een Koperen Munt niet kan omzetten naar een Koperen Staaf.
Het bedrag dat een vijand laat vallen als hij sterft, hangt af van vaste waarden in de game haar code, met een beetje willekeurige variatie.

Hoe maak je het?
Munten kunnen worden "gemaakt" met de hand, wat ze combineert of splitst in andere denominaties. Elke munt is 100 van haar lagere overheersing
(Koper -> Zilver -> Goud -> Platinum). Wanneer opgepakt, zullen de munten zich automatisch combineren tot hun hogere overheersing, indien mogelijk. Bijvoorbeeld, als de speler 100 Zilveren Munten oppakt zal hij 1 Gouden Munt in zijn inventory hebben in plaats daarvan. Evenzo, indien een speler 96 Zilveren Munten heeft, er nog 15 oppakt, zal hij over 1 Gouden Munt en 11 Zilveren munten bezitten.
Boete als je sterft
Indien een speler sterft in softcore modus(De standaard modus), zal de helft van de munten dat de speler bezit, afgerond tot het dichtst bijzijnde volledige munt, worden achtergelaten. Bijvoorbeeld, indien de speler over 1 Gouden Munt in een bundel bezit(Bv. 1 , 5), zal dat worden achtergelaten. Als het in plaats daarvan over 10 Gouden Munten gaat, zullen er 5 worden achtergelaten.
(Let Op!: 75% Van de munten in het bezit van de speler zullen worden achtergelaten in een Expert Modus wereld.)
- Indien de speler sterft in Mediumcore of Hardcore modus, dan zullen alle munten achtergelaten worden, hoe de speler dan ook is gedood.
- Indien gedood door een speler-gehanteerd wapen zal de speler geen munten laten vallen in Softcore modus, zelfs als hij al gewond is door een vijand.
- Andere vormen zoals zelfmoord, dat kan gebeuren door Val Schade of Chaotische Status, zal ervoor zorgen dat er wel munten vallen eenmaal dood.
Opslag
Een hoopje Koperen Munten
In de speler's inventory, hebben munten een speciaal vakje, wat het niet onmogelijk maakt ze normaal te verplaatsen naar normale vakjes.
- Vroeg in het spel, voor het verkrijgen van een spaar varken, is het een goed idee om je munten op te slaan in een kist, let wel op, Quick Stack zal de munten niet in de kist plaatsen. Deposit All daarentegen wel, maar als de kist al vol is wanneer je op Deposit All duwt, bestaat de kans dat hogere overheersing vernietigd word als een stapel voor die munt niet bestaat.

Trivia
- Sinds de 1.3.0.1 update, zijn Koper, Zilver en Gouden Munten de enige items waarvan je maar 100 per keer in een vakje kan hebben.
- Munt Portalen komen veel voor in de hel door de grote hoeveelheid potten.
