Chances of this happening

I have a question about chances, so when I got into my world yesterday with some friends, we had a slime rain, then a solar eclipse, then a blood moon, and during the blood moon the twins spawned and both of the evil biome bosses were about to spawn, the problem is is that it is not a drunk seed (a seed with both evil biomes) and I have thoroughly explored the entire world, and there is only the hallow, and corruption. So I left the world. But when I joined back in the second solar eclipse happened, I am so confused because half of my NPC's died during the events. From what I have read here, solar eclipses only happen after plantra, but the problem is that we have only defeated one hardmode boss, that being the destroyer. But the strange thing is, I had my computer online for a while to keep the server open for my friends, and NO bosses spawned and no events happened. My guess is this is a glitch, but if you have any suggestions feel free to put them here -->

Chances

So is anyone else having trouble getting one of these to happen? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.124.146.38 at 22:45, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I need broken hero sword, but it only happened once in 40 hours of gameplay and I did not looted the sword. Does anyone know a good way to force blood moon or solar eclipse? Dart0711 (talk) 20:05, 4 October 2013 (UTC)
I just had a solar eclipse happen, but I haven't beaten any of the hardmode bosses yet. I did have the Destroyer spawn, but he killed me and de-spawned. So perhaps there's not actually a requirement to have beaten one for it to occur? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.10.173.240 at 16:14, 5 October 2013 (UTC)
I had the twins spawn and pwn me badly, then a solar eclipse happened. Doesn't seem that it's a requirement to have defeated a boss. (talk) 17:02, 5 October 2013 (CST)
There are no requirements for this, but try to run around with a water candle, that summons the blood moon sometimes so it also could summon solar stuff 94.134.17.236 17:25, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
Water candles summon blood moons now? I doubt that. --74.96.238.15 00:08, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
Water candles have no effect on blood moon or eclipse appearances, only on how often monsters spawn. Henix879 (talk) 17:52, 9 October 2013 (UTC)
It's a random chance like the bloodmoon, I only had one happen and that was after I killed the Golem. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CrazedPorcupine (talk • contribs) at 00:39, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

"only happen after killing a Mechanical Boss"

From the 1.2.0.3 changelog:

Slightly increased the chance for an eclipse to happen, but they will now only happen after killing a Mechanical Boss

So does that mean that each time there's a solar eclipse, you have to kill another mechanical boss to get the next eclipse? Or just that killing a single mechanical boss enables any number of eclipses? -- KhymChanur (talk) 02:48, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

its a boolean, if player has killed a mech boss, then eclipsi will happen. 67.233.98.29 03:07, 10 October 2013 (UTC)
Clarification, the requirement is simply having ever defeated a mechanical boss in that world. It has nothing to do with having killed one on the previous night or anything of that nature. Someone should probably update the page to reflect this? -- 24.148.52.160 19:08, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
Mobile versioni play on mobile, and ive killed destoyer, is SE avalible on mobile? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ericjung1212 (talk • contribs) at 23:54, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
I have killed the destroyer four times and the twins once, I've been playing for many in-game days, yet one will not occur, am I missing any requirements? I'm on mobile. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.68.35.87 at 17:00, 27 November 2016 (UTC)
I have mobile and I destroyed the destroyer and I waited a few days and it never happened and I tried to kill him again it never happens??— Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.247.74.124 at 19:25, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
Pretty sure Solar Eclipse is available on mobile. They're rare though, only 1/25 days on average. You'll likely need to wait more than "a few days" before seeing one. Equazcion (talk) 20:32, 22 Jun 2015 (UTC)
Listening to all of this, I have defeated the destroyer twice, the twins once, skeletron prime once, and even plantera. It has been about forty in-game days and nights, but still no sign of one. Is this really bad luck, am I forgeting something, (I'm on console, by the way) or is there something I don't know about. To answer your question though, it can only happen after a mechanical boss has been defeated, but yet I'm not getting any! MouthofCthulhu (talk) 21:18, 26 October 2016 (UTC)
Yup, you have bad luck. Because right after I defeated 1 mechinical boss. waited just 10 in game days. And a solar ecplise is occuring. But maybe also, you might be missing something. Try repeating the process once more.--IosKent (Talk Page - Contribs) 02:04, 27 October 2016 (UTC)--

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── You have to kill all three mechanical bosses before it happens my friend helped me to defeat all three so that might make a difference I just wish it would happen every 20-25 days which is unfortunate. I’m waiting to try and get two heroes blades to make the terra blade so I can defeat plantera anybody know how to make it happen faster on mobile? Please tell if you find out — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.240.10.78 at 22:40, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

Killing plantera required?

According to this twitter conversation thread, you have to defeat Plantera for a Solar Eclipse to happen, but that information was removed from the page, and I can't find a reference to it anywhere that wasn't derived from those tweets. Does anyone know for sure? -- KhymChanur (talk) 10:14, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Nope. Running 1.2.0.3.1 Didn't defeat boss following night. Haven't defeated Plantera. I know Demi said it should in his tweet, but it isn't the case. --Dyskresiac (talk) 02:57, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

—This discussion thread has been resolved. The requirement of defeating Plantera was added in 1.2.0.3.1 and removed in 1.2.1.2—

Harpies

I had an eclipse happen, and harpies spawned above my base. Granted, it's a sky city at one of the highest natural altitudes on the map, but still well below the harpy spawn altitude. Does the eclipse mechanics trigger a change in harpy spawn locations? (Thankfully, no Wyverns spawned) 68.196.61.47 04:51, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Actually scratch that, just got ganked by Wyvern inside my base. 68.196.61.47 04:58, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

I got it before defeating Plantera

The thing about it only happening after you defeat Planetra isn't accurate. I haven't beaten Plantera and I just got it(and beat it). I have FACED Plantera before, but haven't beaten him(only got his health to 15010 lel). I have however beaten Skeletron Prime and The Destroyer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.126.227.75 at 18:21, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

I got a Solar Eclipse before even attempting Plantera, and not only that, but immediately after beating Skeletron Prime (wasn't the first Mechanical boss kill though) --72.83.33.87 00:04, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
As of 1.2.3.1 I got my first Solar Eclipse with only The Destroyer defeated in my main world. --Crystallized (talk) 19:57, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

Blood Moon chances

There's a 1 in 10 chance of a blood moon on any night. 1 in 9 is only on nights with a visible moon, but for comparison to a solar eclipse that can happen on any day regardless of the moon type, the overall chance of a blood moon on any night is a more useful comparison. Equazcion (talk) 19:24, 28 May 2014 (UTC)

SHEER LUCK (I think...)

I just got 3 Broken Hero swords AND the Death Scythe on my 1st Solar Eclipse. Is that common?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Leopardheart982 (talk • contribs) at 03:07, 17 June 2014 (UTC)

It seems fairly lucky, yeah. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 21:11, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
Wow! I literally just had my first solar eclipe a few minutes ago and got a broken hero sword twice, but that was all. Of course I had a pirate invasion at the same time, so I wasn't able to fight as much. MouthofCthulhu (talk) 20:22, 28 October 2016 (UTC)

Bridge spawning harpies

I have a skybridge that is normally below harpy spawn altitude for star collection, mech boss fights, and the like. Normally when I go up there, I don't get harpies unless I fly really high from that platform. However, while attempting to use it during an eclipse, I got harpies and even a wyvern, without even jumping above the bridge itself. The bridge is at 300 feet above according to the game, on a small map, if that's any help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.196.58.181 at 00:09, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

On a small map, Harpies spawn at around 360 feet and up. That's about 30 blocks above your bridge. Your problem is that enemies can also spawn offscreen, at a vertical distance of 35 blocks, or 70 feet, as detailed on this page. There's five blocks of clearance above you for them to spawn in- normally negligible, but with the increased spawn rates caused by events they'd become much more noticeable.
For the record, though, the best place to ask questions like this would be the forums. Gearzein (talk) 06:03, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

Increased Spawn Rate

There is actually a higher chance for a blood moon to occur by holding/placed water candles, I found this info from the gamepedia page of water candles under the tab "notes". — Preceding unsigned comment added by VisualHealing (talk • contribs) at 16:41, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

That refers to the spawn rate of enemies during a blood moon, not the chance for one to occur. I've edited the water candle page to clarify this a bit better. Gearzein (talk) 16:53, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

So many eclipses!

I once got a Solar Eclipse, then a Blood Moon, then another Solar Eclipse! How crazy is that!? 73.166.170.137 13:17, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

I had something similar happen 2 nights ago. I fought and defeated both Skeletron Prime and the Twins during one night cycle... Immediately after that (all happening back to back) I had a solar eclipse, a blood moon, a pirate invasion, and then another solar eclipse. It was so overwhelming and I didn't even have time to empty my inventory. Sadly, there weren't any decent item drops throughout the entire thing. All I got was a bananarang and bat wings. Edafex (talk) 13:37, 22 April 2015 (UTC)

Specifiying Post planterra enemies

I think it would be nice to specify which enemies do spawn after planterra was killed like on other pages that specify which spawn only on hardmode. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.170.51.30 at 01:04, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

I just added this info to the Content section, hope that's what you were looking for :) Cainamar (talk) 23:59, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Sneaky psycho

Imgur-dVQo11i-Talk-Solar Eclipse.png

In the beginning of the night right after eclipse, a stealthy transparent psycho may appear standing somewere on the screen. He will not flee, like other eclipse monsters after end of eclipse, instead he will attack player if he get too close. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.39.55.73 at 02:56, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

It's their normal behavior. They spawn stealthed and stay in place until either you come nearby, or you damage them. These ones are just those you hadn't found and killed during the day. Barhandar (talk) 09:44, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Infrequent Eclipses

Mobile versionWait....so I fought and killed all 3 mech bosses, planterra, and golem. *aplause plz* I have the mobile version of the game but I didn't have a solar eclipse for a while now. Is it that I have to fight a mech boss over again to get another solar eclipse or...what? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.2.41.11 at 21:22, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

They occur randomly. You may just have to wait. Gearzein (talk) 01:47, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
They are very rare, Ive owned all bosses multiple times and I've only had one all YEAR! Try overloading with bosses, one every day... This may help.

The wiki says that it’s a 1/20 chance of happening. I dont think that’s right Ninjaboy3827 (talk) 00:05, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Solar Eclipse... Bug?

On Xbox, I've noticed that NPC's respawn after an eclipse, even though it is technically night time afterwards. Is this a bug, or am I missing something? 209.43.7.130 15:08, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

I was playing with my friend when we got a solar eclipse then followed by a blood moon so we fought the destroyer, golem and the twins all at once. At the end we got another solar eclipse where I got 2 broken hero swords in the space of 20 seconds!!! How? Maybe the overload of bosses and the golem has something to do with the solar eclipse? 83.71.155.21 21:50, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
I'm just playing alone and i'm all the way up to killing the moon lord (pc) and i have only had one solar eclipse, so i used a solar tablet to get one, that one ended i got neptune's shell. i was going to try it out in ocean and another solar eclipse happened, that one ended and then another one and another one... im on my 7th one in a row now... PLEASE.MAKE.IT.STOP!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.0.133.13 at 20:28, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
Please report this in the official forums. –Ferretwings (talk) 00:49, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
I'm on console and I'm having neverending solar eclipses? Is this a bug? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cececec (talk • contribs) at 22:12, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
Likely is, you may want to report this on the Console Bug Report forum. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 22:51, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

Mobile

Are they rarer on mobile? Because I have defeated everyone boss and have gotten almost all there drops but in that time I have only gotten 1 solar eclipse RaptorWolf89 (talk) 21:55, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

We have easy access to the source code for the PC, but not Mobile or Console. We primarily depend on Mobile and Console users to fill in the blanks. – Ferretwings (talk) 00:08, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Solar Eclipse Happens Way Too Often

So I have been playing Terraria for a week or two now, and my first solar eclipse was a few days ago. Since then, it seems that I get a solar eclipse every other night. In fact, playing today, I experienced not one, not three, but six different solar eclipses, and 2 of them were back-to-back. I came here to ask if there was a way to lower the possibility of a solar eclipse occurring, because it is quite frustrating to try and develop your world and create stuff when solar eclipses happen every day. 67.7.125.1 03:24, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

  • Edit - It is probably worth it to mention that I have defeated every boss up until The Twins (that includes Skeletron Prime and The Destroyer). This means that I have not even seen Plantera yet, and the Golem is way beyond my reach at this moment in time. 67.7.125.1 03:28, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
Sorry, but no. Well... unless you use a map editor and un-flag all the mechanical boss flags (then you would no longer get the Solar Eclipse). Otherwise, your only other option is to create a new world and never fight any of the mechanical bosses. You either get Solar Eclipses or you don't... you can't adjust how often you get them. – Ferretwings (talk) 03:48, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, it seems that you are extremely unlucky. Once I was playing, I had a Blood Moon followed by a Solar Eclipse, followed by another Blood Moon, followed by a Pirate Invasion, followed by yet another Blood Moon. ReedemtheD3ad (talk) 15:26, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Glitched?

Ive killed the destroyer over 10 times, Skeletron Prime 6 times and the twins 3 times plus plantera and golem 2 times and it havent occured is this glitched or something Ive only used a Legendary Nights Edge to fight them and i am waiting to get the true nights edge to fight fishron. Freaking Ive waited 50 plus In Game Day. Any reasons why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.195.209.185 at 14:44, 29 December 2017 (UTC)

Most likely bad luck (the RNG can be really evil sometimes), but you might want to check in at the bug-reporting section (for your platform) of the forums. ETA: If you've beaten Plantera and Golem, you can probably do better than that for weapons, indeed by now you should be fairly well able to overmatch with the eclipses (I'll admit, they're still annoying). You might also try an Enchanted Sundial, and see if that interrupts the run. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 00:08, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

Can't Defeat Skeletron Prime!

I’m on mobile and I defeated the destroyer but I can’t defeat skeletron prime and I don’t wanna fight the twins so I need a true Night’s Edge (or terra blade) but I can’t get a solar eclipse! how common are they before plantera is defeated? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.33.83.11 at 18:49, February 20, 2018 (UTC)

In terms of help defeating bosses, the best place to go would be the the official forums.
However, I can tell you that defeating Plantera does not affect the chance of a Solar Eclipse, sadly. However, the good news is that, since you're in Mobile, defeating the Destroyer should have given you the best chance at a Solar Eclipse already.
Tip: If you are planning on defeating Skeletron Prime, however, the Sharanga and Titanium Trident or Gungnir is usually the best —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk 00:28, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

Start time

I heard solar eclipses happen either 5:30Am or 4:30Am save your game before it hits one of them times save it then keep leaving without saving till it happens — Preceding unsigned comment added by DarkPhantom (talk • contribs) at 08:11, 26 July 2018

Enemy types on pre 1.3.0.1 platforms

It seems as though the enemy types on pre 1.3 platforms are limited to eyezors, Frankensteins, vampires, swamp things, and reapers according to the page on the event. Has anyone on mobile tried lava against any of the event's ground enemies?

Ps, can i post images here? Warmonger2685 (talk) 13:27, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

I do not own mobile, so I cannot answer that, but I wanted to tell you that you are free to post images here. If you do not want to link an external image posting platform, you can upload an image via Special:Upload and then embed it here. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 16:47, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

How to?

I have defeated all mech bosses and destroyer a LOT of times, but I have only gotten one SE. Is there a way I can summon one instantly? I cannot use the Solar Tablet because I am on PS3. Thanks! AsherD123 (talk)

I'm afraid there is no way to summon a Solar Eclipse without a Solar Tablet or third-party software. You will probably have to be patient and wait for one; RNG can be annoying at times. Good luck! --Rye Greenwood (talk) 01:56, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Eclipse Bugged

I got 8 Solar Eclipses in a row and I have defeated up to Plantera. Is this just RNG screwing me over?
