Much more

there is much more to the tutorial. there is a dungeon under the sands to the west of the starting point. maybe express other features that would be overlooked, such as what's under the large body of water under the floating island, what's to the far east or west of the island, so on... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.9.255.85 at 07:54, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

far under the sand under the water are various caverns and patches of magma — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.9.255.85 at 08:37, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

We encourage editors to add information that has been left out. Anybody can edit the page. Since this is Mobile/Console Only, we hope that Mobile & Console users will fill in the blanks. --Ferretwings (talk) 15:29, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

Easter

An editor just added that Diseaster Bunnies will spawn during Easter. I need verification...does this happen when you play the Tutorial during Easter? --Ferretwings (talk) 15:29, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

Lack of page content

This page needs some love, it doesn't seem to have much on it, if any of the admins see this, please bring this page to the attention of the wiki, it needs a lot. TheRagingFire (talk) 01:24, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Extras?

While going through the abuse log (which occasionally contains non-vandal edit attempts), I found an edit attempt by 124.169.173.218 which contained a link to https://www.reddit.com/r/Terraria/comments/5s1f89/so_i_figured_out_that_i_might_be_able_to_do_a_lot/?st=iz6zwi9x&sh=802c1d48 (which is what flagged the edit as possible vandalism).

Apparently, the Tutorial can be taken quite far. I would like verification from at least one other console (and mobile) user before adding to the Tutorial page. Here is the "Extras" summary:

Ferretwings (talk) 14:33, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

The Console Tutorial is, in fact, COMPLETELY different from the Mobile/3DS tutorial. As the biggest point, the tutorial island is completely suspended above a deep layer of water. To help, here are some other major points:
  • Under the sea floor (which is made of sand), there seems to be a normal Underground, which contains all the things a normal world would have (I have not found any Crystal Hearts, though). The appropriate monsters spawn normally.
  • The Underworld is not separated by a layer of lava. Everything except for Demon Torches, Shadow Chests, and Hellforges have been removed- this includes any furniture and paintings. The Ruined Houses themselves (although still composed of Obsidian Bricks and Obsidian Brick Walls) have holes in their walls- the type made by hammers, which do not appear naturally. Every Underworld-themed pot and Obsidian Brick platform has been turned into normal pots and Wood Platforms, respectively. I have not seen any Hellstone Brick houses. There does not seems to be a way to open the Shadow Chests (see below). There is also a strange diagonal line made of dirt blocks that does not seem to serve any purpose and spans quite a bit of the Underworld. Demons and other Underworld monsters spawn as normal.
  • The Dungeon, a small pink brick area that is completely underground, contains 2 Gold Chests and some Chain Lanterns attatched to switches. The Gold Chests are openable via pots on the upper level, which give several Gold Keys. For some reason, one of the locked chests can be broken while locked. However, none of the chests contains a Shadow Key, needed to open the Shadow Chests in the Underworld.
  • This does not seem to be a proper dungeon even though the requirements for one are met. This results in there being no Old Man (thus no Skeletron), no Dungeon Guardians, and no Dungeon enemies.
  • Every biome (other than the Dungeon) seems to spawn its respective enemies.
  • The only structures, other than the small Dungeon and the Ruined Houses, are 2 small 1.2-style cabins.
  • Because of the Demons and one of the Underground Cabins, there are only 2 spawnable bosses: The Eye of Cthulhu and the Wall of Flesh.
  • I have yet to verify if Mechanical bosses can spawn; I assume so, since there is 1 Demon Altar on the island.
  • If Mechanical Bosses CAN spawn, then Plantera can be spawned. There is no Jungle Temple, so this is as far as you would get.
  • The Guide will not respawn if killed, and no other NPCs will spawn, regardless of whether requirements are met.
  • There is a small underground area to the right of the spawn point which has Corrupted Grass and Corrupted Thorny Bushes. Even though the background changes to the Corruption background, there does not seem to be enough blocks to have a proper Corruption (I have not attempted to create an artificial Corruption).
  • The music will always be the Tutorial soundtrack, regardless of whether the actual tutorial is completed.
  • The only 2 statues (I have found) are a Corrupt Statue and a Chest statue, both found in the Dungeon. The Chest statue will spawn a Mimic, though no loot will drop other than a few coins.
  • The only way to spawn the Mimic is to place it in an existing Chain Lantern circuit. No NPCs mean no Mechanic for a Wrench, Wire, or Wire Cutter.
  • Chests and pots are placed throughout the world, each containing their own unique loot.
  • It seems to be impossible to be killed by monsters and fall damage. However, you can still be killed via boulders, Dart Traps and other debuffs, lava, and drowning.
  • There is a strange glitch regarding drowning; it seems to be possible to jump out of water at the last second, resulting in every heart being empty while still being alive.
  • The only biomes are 3 Forest biomes (in the center and on the left and right), 2 Jungles (between the center Forest and the side Forests), a Desert (on the left extreme of the island), a Snow biome (on the right extreme of the island), a (failed) Corruption, an Underground, and the Underworld. There are no floating islands (at least not over the island), but I assume there are Oceans on the left and right extremes of the map.
  • I have no idea whether Goodie Bags or Presents can spawn during Halloween and Christmas, respectively.

That's all for now. You are free to ask questions as needed. Note: All the info above was verified using the PS3 version, which has not and will not receive any further updates later than and including 1.3. Diamondcat6746 (talk) 01:11, 9 January 2018 (UTC)

It might be possible to get a shadow key by fishing for Dungeon Crates, if you don't run out of gold keys first. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 03:13, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
But that's the thing: Dungeon Crates are fished from a proper Dungeon, right? This particular Pink Brick box does not seem to be a proper Dungeon; no corresponding enemies spawn here, not even Dungeon Guardians. Also... Dungeon Crates were introduced in 1.3, which PS3 (my platform!) did not get. I don't have a PS4, but either way, every part of it is above level 0, which means the game will not classify this as a proper Dungeon. Is it even possible to get Shadow Keys by fishing? Diamondcat6746 (talk) 01:30, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
On PC, you can definitely get Shadow Keys from fishing, it's just a slog: 1 in 6 chance of each crate having a Golden Lock Box, then 1 in 7 of the GLB having a Shadow Key. And, of course, you need to build your own lake within the dungeon to fish from! Specifically, the perch you fish from has to be in front of natural Dungeon walls, and also be below level 0. So even on PC, that would squelch it. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 14:00, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
On mobile, Shadow Keys can drop from Arch Wyverns. Perhaps they can on console as well? – Ferretwings (talk) 14:07, 10 January 2018 (UTC)
I use the console version and have killed numerous Wyverns and Arch Wyverns, but I have never gotten a Shadow Key from one. Diamondcat6746 (talk) 00:28, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

The Guide

It seems the Guide wont appear at all in the tutorial, meaning that consuming a voodoo doll wont make the wall of flesh to spawn. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skullflesh (talk • contribs) at 05:27, 15 March 2019

Candidate for deletion?

This page is pretty bad. Like really bad. It either needs an entire rewrite or just to not exist. There's not any reason to progress past the basic parts of the tutorial which are heavily explained and the rest of this serves as a basic full game guide any other guide page on progression shows. And if this page is kept can there at least be an update to handle modern mobile and console tutorials? Kirby Baker (talk) 02:33, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I'm afraid you meant to post this on Guide talk:Beating the Tutorial, no? This page (Tutorial) is mostly just a description of the tutorial. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 02:58, 26 October 2023 (UTC)
apologies, it was late at night and I missed this when I was jumping between pages to double check info- Yes, I did mean to post it there. Should I delete this section and move it? Kirby Baker (talk) 11:55, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

missing map

didn't this page once have the old-gen/1.3 console tutorial map? why is it only the 3ds one now? JTanner2026 (talk) 19:17, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
