Loot Slot

Should we add a Loot slot too? -Shadowclaimer 17:17, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Would probably be better to keep drop lists as part of the page instead. We need some actual page content outside the infobox. -- Wynthyst File:Curseicon.png talk 17:21, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Understandable, just figured it was worth checking considering loot is something that everything shares, and consolidating the coinage range/items into one compact list under the header would be nice. - Shadowclaimer 17:23, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Could do a modified version of Template:Store item for drops... -- Wynthyst File:Curseicon.png talk 17:26, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
That could work and just toss it under the normal NPC infobox on the pages? -Shadowclaimer 17:30, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
It actually aligns to the left of the page, you can see how it's used already. A few modifications and I think it would serve the purpose you are looking for. -- Wynthyst File:Curseicon.png talk 17:35, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
I'll definitely take a look at it, thank you ^^ -Shadowclaimer 17:36, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
I made an attempt to make a infobox for item drops like Wynthyst suggested. It's on my userpage, how does that look? --GauHelldragon 10:29, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

"When added" slot

A field in which you can insert the version in which the npc was added would be great. With this there wouldn't be this information in the text. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.5.220.99 at 20:47, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

"Immunity" Field

How about a new field that will show if a monster is immune to certain status effects? --GauHelldragon 21:35, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

I dunno. It feels more like something that you put in the notes rather than in the infobox. I'd have to think about it, though. --JonTheMon 02:06, 14 August 2011 (UTC)

Image 2

Are we sure that's where we want any second image? I mean, it can show something, but the positioning seems off. Perhaps it might be better to position the second image at the bottom of the infobox? --JonTheMon 12:41, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

I've edited the infobox a bit, and the image now shows up on the bottom. Mark (Talk) 16:35, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Integrating Template:Item drops infobox

User:ILiaWneK/Sandbox/Item drops infobox (npc infobox) used in User:ILiaWneK/Sandbox. I'll edit it after a week unless anybody objects. — iLiaWneK (talk) 15:57, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

What are the reasons you would integrate the drop box into the regular infobox? --JonTheMon 16:48, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Well, I didn't exactly see the point in having both, when most NPCs drop items anyway. Plus, Wynthyst suggested that the two should merge as well. Besides, I fail to see any negatives about this. — iLiaWneK (talk) 17:27, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Speaking of the integration, there's a small error that I cannot correct for the 5th item. The at the line where it checks if field 14 is equal to 1, there is a missing right curly bracket that breaks the script. As a result, the quantity 1 appear regardless, as can be seen on Mimic. -- TechpriestMagos 20:36, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Fixed. — iLiaWneK (talk) 20:56, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

Knockback Resist field

Each NPC has a stat called Knockback Resist, which specifies how much the NPC is affected by knockback. For example, Demon Eyes have a Knockback Resist value of 0.8, which I would like to put in a field with the rest of the stats (dmg, def, life, AI, etc.) as 20%. Town NPCs are 50% resistant, while worms and bosses are 100% resist (aka immune to knockback). This seems like a basic stat which should be listed on each NPC page, so I would like to request someone add it to the template so it will appear on NPC pages (field called Knockback Resist, possibly with a link to Knockback Resist, which can easily be created to explain how it works). --KZaicon (talk) 10:17, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

I've added a new field for knockback resistance. --0icke0 (talk) 14:42, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
Awesome. Although it looks like (view: Zombie) 'Knockback' and 'Resist' are two separate values (since they are on two different lines, and only 'Knockback' has a link). Anyway, on a separate note, some NPCs already have an ID filled in, but there's no field for that, either. Is that intentional? --KZaicon (talk) 17:04, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
I am sorry to butt in like this, but would it be possible to add a image size field too, as in Template:Patch infobox? I reckon that would solve issues like this. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 22:03, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
An image size field isn't really needed. The image just needs to be replaced with the original version, rather than a re-sized version. --0icke0 (talk) 20:48, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
So, about that ID field? --KZaicon (talk) 14:28, 2 April 2014 (UTC)

Debuffs

Since the last time anyone suggested a debuff section was years ago, I would like to bring it up again. All the info about what debuffs enemies can inflict are pretty much clustered around different pages. Having a section for it would be rather useful and much clearer than a note somewhere on the page. 80.186.238.203 10:05, 3 May 2014 (UTC)

This sounds like a good idea. Perhaps something similar could be done for immunity. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 02:28, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Adding bait power for critters

Can it be possible to add "bait power" ? --Dinoxel (talk) 20:59, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

You can use the "pick" parameter, which now just displays the title "power". See Meteor Hamaxe, for example. Equazcion (talk) 21:18, 28 Nov 2014 (UTC)
Just realized that's only in the item infobox. I'll add something here momentarily. Equazcion (talk) 21:20, 28 Nov 2014 (UTC)
I added a "power" parameter. Enter |power = 15% bait, for example. Equazcion (talk) 21:27, 28 Nov 2014 (UTC)
It looks like great ! I'll modify what I wrote in "Critters" -- Dinoxel (talk) 22:56, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

NPC ID Link

I just noticed the change as I was going through editing. Thanks! It looks great! Now there's a reason for that parameter to exist! Chrisf1020 (talk) 00:57, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Expert Mode

We'll be needing Life, Damage, Defense and Drops fields for Expert mode. And/or a function that swaps out the normal version for the expert version. --Littlebeasti (talk) 02:02, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Banners

Since enemies now drop their banners under specific conditions, and their banner affects them more than being a rare drop, I think it would be worthwhile to switch from listing the banners as an NPC drop to using a "Banner" parameter that would state the type of banner the enemy drops/is affected by. –KM100 (talk) 03:55, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Wrong category

This template creates an entry in the non-existing category:NPC NPCs for all articles including it. The correct categories are category:NPCs and its subcategories. The template is protected, please fix. Thanks. – viciarg (talk) 14:14, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

Debuff Chance parameter

Scrolling through the source reveals that enemies have a chance to inflict certain debuffs. I think having a parameter to show that might be useful. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 22:15, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

What's this property called in the code? I'm not seeing it in the NPC stat lists. Equazcion (talk) 23:15, 11 Sep 2016 (UTC)
If you look in Player.cs under the StatusPlayer() method, you can see how debuffs are inflicted on the player. It's relatively easy to link up the NPCID and BuffID to figure out what's going on. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 00:47, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, I see it. This might be useful information, although I don't think it's useful enough to warrant expanding the NPC template with another entire field. If we could put it someplace more inconspicuous I'd say sure. I was just thinking of making the buff title into 2 lines wrapped to the right of the buff icon, with the chances on the second line (only when chances have been input), however that would take some involved coding that I don't have the time for myself at the moment.
If someone wanted to code something like this in a sandbox, and it ended up looking good and working well, I'd implement it. Equazcion (talk) 01:07, 12 Sep 2016 (UTC)
Mine is ready: User:Ferretwings/Sandbox/Npc_infobox (the new optional parameters are debuffchance and debuffchance2, and must be in the format ###% (eg. debuffchance = 10%)). If the word "chance" is removed from the template, debuffchance can be used to add any note to the debuff.
I'd like to do this with the item infobox as well (there are some weapons that have a chance to inflict debuffs, and I'd like to see that chance listed in the infobox). – Ferretwings (talk) 20:03, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
edit: It doesn't actually need to be a percentage, the template will display whatever you give it, and add " chance" to the end of it. – Ferretwings (talk) 20:13, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Great work Ferretwings, I updated the template with your changes. As you can see I tweaked it just slightly, to restore the bold debuff name. If the chances of player-wielded items causing debuffs is also apparent in the code we could certainly do the same with {{item infobox}}. Equazcion (talk) 21:15, 12 Sep 2016 (UTC)
Thanks :) I enjoy using my little gray cells :). I'm a programmer at heart (mostly VB). – Ferretwings (talk) 01:52, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

About the immune section

Hi, I recently notified that when there is 5 active debuffs (see Pixie) it add a space above the debuffs images.

So I did some tests and fixed the problem when I removed the nbsp; of the 5th debuff and add a normal space. (See the result here : Fée) It even shift the 6th debuff. --Dinoxel talk 23:37, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out :) I moved all the nbsp; in front of the linked icons. It seemed to make more sense there. – Ferretwings (talk) 00:07, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

Speed section

Do you think we should add a max speed tag for flying enemies (like the Dungeon Guardian, who does not have a speed attribute listed. I am curious as to its exact speed.) Awesome_Diamonds 15:01, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

Images for other platforms in infobox

As desktop sprites get updated, we've pretty much been ignoring the fact that other platforms still have the old sprite. I propose keeping both the old and the new sprites in the infobox. I've created a possible solution at Template:Npc infobox/sandbox.

Here are some examples of how it would be used. I've coded the infobox to handle 3 images. Note how the platforms will list when you mouse-over the image when there is more than one image.

The parameter image2 is currently being used to display an image on the bottom. I propose we rename that parameter. It's only being used by a few pages, so it shouldn't be a difficult change. – Ferretwings (talk) 22:43, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

I support this idea. Presumably the new sprite stays if the old sprite is too similar? A bunch of the newer sprites from 1.3+ are just outline changes. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 23:08, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
I'd say if the player can't tell the difference, there would be no need to display the old sprite. Good point, though.
I'm considering doing something similar with the Item infobox, but that gets a little complicated with the "placed" and "equipped" images. Any suggestions there? – Ferretwings (talk) 23:50, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
I definitely support this idea since I always end up searching for NPCs and looking at their pictures to find the one I'm looking for, only to find out it's the PC sprite. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Awesome diamonds (talkcontribs) at 20 May 2017

Linked AI slot

I noticed when browsing through some pages that the AI part isn't linked. I don't know how to fix it ,though, and don't have permissions, so if anyone has permissions to edit the page, should this be edited? —Awesome_Diamonds 01:37, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

If you mean the ai type itself isn't linked (e.g., "unicorn ai") that's intended, as there aren't separate pages for all AIs. If an NPC has unique or notable behaviors, they go on the NPC's page itself rather than a separate AI page. If that's not what you mean, then it's likely an issue with individual pages, and you'll have to clarify which ones it's affecting. – KM100 (talk) 01:50, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

Map Icon Slot

I have added all of the Map Icons from the Source Files to the Town NPCs, Traveling Merchant, and Bosses. Since the Map Icons are commonly used, should we had a slot for it to the template? All of the File Names are "Map Icon [NPC].png" so it should be easy to do, just something where the default makes it the page name and otherwise would be used on those bosses with multiple stages, such as Plantera, Eye of Cthulhu, etc. Something that could go along the lines of: | Map Icon = yes to show the Map Icon, if it exists, (which it does for the Town NPCs, Bosses, and Traveling Merchant), or | Map Icon = Plantera (first stage) for the multiple stage ones. ReedemtheD3ad (talk) 19:57, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

Size Tag

I believe there should be a size tag on the infobox.
