Problem uploading images.

Hi, Im having some problems uploading/updating images. I was uploading these two to use in an upcoming edit:

https://terraria.gamepedia.com/File:Vita_icon.png https://terraria.gamepedia.com/File:Ps_icon.png

I forgot to remove the background so then I tried to "Upload a new version of this file" but the "current" image is always the one with the white background. "revert" did not help either. I'μ not sure if I'm doing somethign wrong or Curse servers are the problem because I was getting gateway errors. I just want to keep the ones without background. --Leonord cursetalk」 14:08, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

There do seem to be some server issues this morning, but the image thing is separate. Images at Gamepedia operate on a separate cache system that takes a while to update when uploading new versions. Usually 10-15 minutes or so, but I've seen it take hours or even days. I haven't found any real way around this; but it only occurs when uploading new versions of images, so if you're anxious to work on something and you need the updated images, you can upload them as new images to different filenames, and those should display immediately. Equazcion (talk) 14:26, 8 Jan 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for the explanation. It has now chosen the correct one. You can delete the old one if you want to.--Leonord cursetalk」 13:31, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

New bureaucrat request

Hello! I'm an admin of Chinese Terraria Wiki. Actually, there's only two native sysops. We do need a bureaucrat in order to edit some settings and to give rights to new operators. Please give bureaucrat rights to either Edsnybet Noyastray bureaucrat in Chinese Terraria Wiki, thanks a lot! --Noyastary (talk) 09:31, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

Equazcion Please! We have waited for this for a long time!.--Ff98sha (talk) 07:24, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
Game widow, could you assist with this? – Ferretwings (talk) 19:06, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay, I've been occupied with real-life stuff. I've now given bureaucrat rights to Edsnybet and Noyastray. Equazcion (talk) 01:21, 19 Jan 2017 (UTC)

Filter issue

I donít edit Gamepedia much, but I am attempting to add a reference for some unsaid information. I get this warning. I dunno how this helps permit vandalism, but eh. Help? --Chapsteck4yurlipis (talk) 05:25, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

It seems you tripped a common pattern for spam, but it only affects newly registered users. Once you've been here for a short while and made a few edits this type of filter won't trigger. In the meantime, I found the edit you were trying to save and have done it for you, as it looks alright to me. Sorry for the inconvenience. Equazcion (talk) 05:39, 13 Feb 2017 (UTC)
Thanks! Chapsteck4yurlipis (talk) 06:22, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

File deletion requests

I have added some old files and such to the delete request. Please have them deleted or discus why we need them. Thank you. – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) at 12:37, 2 June 2017

History merging

I wanted to merge the history of some pages.

After running into a technical issue, I decided to make a list of the pages I was comparing, to see what exactly should be merged.

Here is a summary of what I found:

Jungle armor (history page)

  • May 18, 2011 Page creation (page created as Cobalt Armor)
  • The armor was re-named and re-sprited, but retained the old stats, so the page was moved to Jungle armor.
  • This history page appears complete.

Ancient Cobalt armor (history page)

  • No history listed prior to Oct 6, 2013
  • Oct 3, 2013 Page creation (found at Ancient Cobalt Armor - histories should be merged).

Cobalt armor (history page)

  • This is a new hardmode armor with a "previously used" name. It shares no stats with its old namesake.
  • Oct 6, 2013 Page move from Cobalt Armor (this is the earliest entry - need to move some history over from Cobalt Armor beginning at Dec 1, 2011, when the hardmode armor was introduced).

Jungle Armor history page

  • Page move.

Ancient Cobalt Armor history page

  • Contains history from Oct 3 - Oct 8, 2013 (needs to be merged with Ancient Cobalt armor).

Cobalt Armor history page

  • The earlier edits listed on the history page are aimed at creating an "old game content" page.
  • Dec 1, 2011 and later refer to the hardmode Cobalt armor (needs to be merged with Cobalt armor).

Proposed change to Main page

When console first announced it would update to 1.3, I began working on the Main page, dividing the consoles. You can see my work here: Terraria Wiki/sandbox. The change would affect the boxes on the right side, and I've displayed both versions side-by-side. If it looks good, I'd like to copy it over to the Main page (just the right-side boxes)... but perhaps I should wait until console's 1.3 is actually released? – Ferretwings (talk) 01:34, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

I'm not sure I understand these groupings and how they relate to the 1.3 release. Could you clarify? It does look nice though, good job there. Equazcion (talk) 02:04, 30 Sep 2017 (UTC)
Only Xbox One and PS4 will receive the 1.3 update, the other consoles will not. That is why I propose dividing the consoles into 2 groups. I wasn't sure where to put 3DS, so I left it in the consoles section. – Ferretwings (talk) 03:05, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
That makes sense then. I don't see any reason it can't be done now. Equazcion (talk) 16:19, 30 Sep 2017 (UTC)

"Do not have access" to comments, and should.

My profile page says: "You do not have permission to add comments or reply. Please make sure you are logged in, have validated your email address, and have performed at least one edit to an article." I am indeed logged in, The link says my E-mail address was validated, and I've been making enough edits to get free PRO status. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 16:05, 30 September 2017 (UTC)

Have you tried logging out and back in again? Sometimes this happens to me and doing that has helped get rid of it. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 16:07, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
Doing that seems to have worked. Thanks! --MentalMouse42 (talk) 17:38, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
On second look, I was confused by landing on my Gamepedia profile after login. Going back to my Terraria profile, I'm still seeing the same message.  :( --MentalMouse42 (talk) 17:44, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
Try deleting your cookies. – Ferretwings (talk) 18:16, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
Tried that, then logged out and in. No luck. I note that my login is being redirected through Gamepedia, but there's still a "join Terraria Wiki" button that just bounces over to Gamepedia. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 20:13, 30 September 2017 (UTC)
This is apparently a recent issue across Gamepedia, non-admins can't currently comment on profiles. They're looking into it. Equazcion (talk) 20:25, 30 Sep 2017 (UTC)

Crafting section format

Before I get into an edit war, I need some opinions, because both editors involved have valid arguments. I worked with the Crafting section on the Fallen Star page to shorten it, and make it easy to understand. An editor recently divided it up between the different platforms, which is done quite often on the wiki. I feel dividing it up makes it more difficult to compare recipes between platforms (as an editor). I suppose as a wiki user, it would be more convenient to have the recipes grouped by platform. Any thoughts? Should I post this to the Community board for a vote? – Ferretwings (talk) 20:43, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

It's not only more convenient for the wiki editors, but for readers as well. Consider that most players are playing on a single platform, so having "their" recipes grouped together is much more convenient. Comparing recipes between platforms is a niche situation. Thus, I'd advise sticking with the current norm. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 01:40, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

History template

Back in June 2015, it was suggested to separate the Desktop, Console, and Mobile history on item pages. Better late then never, lol! AwsomeDiamonds revisited the idea (with gusto :)), and I came up with a new History template. Take a peek at the Template:History/sandbox, and Terraria Wiki:Sandbox where you can test it. For pages not using the version parameter, the information will display the same as before. I plan on implementing the template by the end of the week, so if you have any questions or concerns, please speak up! :) – Ferretwings (talk) 03:41, 17 October 2017 (UTC)

Wiki is a bit broken atm

When saving changes to a page, I'm shown an "Internal error" page with content like:

  • Changes are still saved, and visible on page's revision history page, but Special:RecentChanges doesn't update.

Editing seems fixed now, but Special:RecentChanges is still missing a chunk of time. Would be nice if someone could rebuild it. 86.115.19.146 16:20, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

    Rollback Loophole?

I got a bit concerned after reading the Help:Rollback page (not because of the rollback feature itself, read on). I saw that it gives the ability to revert multiple edits by an IP or users which is awesome, except I think people without rollback can still do this by

    1. Go to the history subpage
    2. Check the left circle of the edit before the first edit you want to revert
    3. Check the right circle of the last edit you want to revert
    4. Click the button to see the difference between edits
    5. Click the undo button
    6. Done.

Is this a loophole which needs to be addressed, or is this intended and rollback has additional features? —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk 21:42, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

The Rollback tool isn't necessarily meant to be stronger than default editing, it's supposed to be faster. Going into a page's history and saving an older revision is a rather convoluted process that one-off vandals aren't going to know how to do -- and even if they do know how to do it, it's slower and less damaging than simply vandalizing the page. In contrast, rollback undoes multiple edits with a single click, making it faster and more dangerous in the wrong hands, hence why it's only given to those with permission. – KM100 (talk) 22:08, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
Now that I think about it, a vandal without a rollback feature wouldn’t get too far undoing multiple edits (like you mentioned), I see why they made the feature separate from normal undoing now. Thanks for your fast response! —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk 22:12, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
Oh, and one more thing, there’s a lot of unused (I made sure to check the other language wikis) files with old sprites in the candidates for deletion), are these being kept for project reasons? —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk 22:12, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
I don't believe they're being used for anything. However, deleted files can't be restored, so they need a bit more consideration than a normal page before being deleted. As a result, deletion-requested images tend to stick around for a bit until an admin gets around to deciding whether or not they should be kept. – KM100 (talk) 22:41, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

    Protection of File

Shouldn't File:Green Slime Front.png be protected since it is used on the front page? – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) 02:12, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

    User:4e696e6a6f795844 Protected it. Thank you! – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) 03:00, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

    List of Administrators

I was looking at the List of Admins and noticed that User:Gerzein hasn't made an edit in about a year. Also, User:Flisch42 hasn't made an edit in 7 months. Should they be moved to the inactive section? – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) 02:10, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Yes; thanks for pointing that out. – Ferretwings (talk) 18:52, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

    Wiki page formatting is broken

Most pages have no top bar, formatting, etc, though some of the links from the sidebare are present as text. This page has a formatted sidebar, but no background. Clearly something dire has happened to the default page formatting. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 03:02, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

Holy moly, I see it. I'll try to figure out what's going on.– Ferretwings (talk) 15:59, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
Fixed. Thank you Alianin :) – Ferretwings (talk) 17:05, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
Thank you! Out of curiosity, what happened? --MentalMouse42 (talk) 22:21, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

    Page-save errors are back....

Trying to edit "Guide:Making Money" gets a "Unknown error, HTTP status 500" on save. Trying to review my changes twiddles for a bit, then gets an undersized box with no diffs. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 01:43, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

I'm getting errors as well, it's quite frustrating. They said they are working on it. They're migrating some wikis, and I'm guessing it's slowing down all the gamepedia wikis. I've gotten 500, 504, 525, and "website offline" errors. – Ferretwings (talk) 02:25, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
Getting the same (that is, "500 Internal Server Error") on trying to save Wall of Flesh. Particularly annoying since it's just been vandalized with misinformation. (ETA: Deadly Sphere too.) --MentalMouse42 (talk) 23:17, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
Fixed now, at least I managed to save both pages. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 01:30, 27 November 2017 (UTC)
"Guide:Making Money" is erroring on save again. "Error loading data from server: Could not connect to the server. Would you like to retry? "OK" repeats, "Cancel" goes to source-editing mode. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 01:41, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
The "Lava" page is failing to save with "Unknown error, HTTP status 500" again. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 13:02, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
    I've reported it. – Ferretwings (talk) 13:31, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, seems to be fixed. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 14:09, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
And again, "Bubble" gets status 500. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 15:15, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────It appears that the fix they made yesterday doesn't always work. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. They're still working on it.– Ferretwings (talk) 16:16, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

Now, "Liquids", again status 500. Is it still useful to report these? --MentalMouse42 (talk) 15:06, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
This is a site-wide problem affecting seemingly random pages. However, platform team won't be able to continue to work on the errors until they come in on Monday. A ton of pages have been reported already including those from other wikis so I think they have enough to find the root cause now. Thank you for reporting this issue. – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) 18:48, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, for the info. But fie on the delay, I've got an edit wedged for Liquids that (ihho) would let us delete Guide:Liquids as redundant. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 19:38, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
ETA: "Bubble" is also acting up again. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 22:25, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
ETA2: Hmm. Both pages just let me save. Someone working the holiday, or does this come and go for individual pages? --MentalMouse42 (talk) 16:46, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
There was indeed a fix put in place, but a minor one that doesn't solve all of the problems (namely image uploading still buggy) – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) 16:52, 1 April 2018 (UTC)
Sigh. "Thrown Powder" and "Shadow Orb", status 500. I'm not seeing great odds of being able to save a given edit. Rah Rah techies, stomp those bugs!  ;-) --MentalMouse42 (talk) 11:28, 3 April 2018 (UTC)

    Desktop Version Template

In the {{desktop version}} template, it uses the {{pc icon}} template. This is deprecated and needs to be changed to {{desktop icon}}. However, the template is protected against editing except to administrators. Could one of you please fix this? Thank you. – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) 22:36, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

    Changed. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 00:27, 6 December 2017 (UTC)
Thank you! That was a very quick response. – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) 00:53, 6 December 2017 (UTC)

    Urgent script error fix needed

When I was using {{see also}}, I stumbled across an error:

It appears that the “Labelled list hatnote” module was removed or corrupted. Just sending this as a heads up for coders. —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 18:58, 6 December 2017 (UTC)

Edit: it appears User:Pcj fixed it. Thanks for looking into it guys! —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 20:09, 6 December 2017 (UTC)

    {{Npc infobox}}

To fix version errors (e.g. console/mobile variant rather than console/mobile/3ds variant) and have it automatically update as versions receive 1.3, would anyone be able to make “variant = yes” fill out versions as “{{eversions|code=y|replace=-}}? Thanks for looking into it! —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 04:46, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

    Dire thumbnail errors

Multiple pages are showing "Error creating thumbnail: Unable to save thumbnail to destination" instead of banner or table icons. Seen offhand on the Community Noticeboard "Forums Page" Section, and the "Sextant" page both in the "desktop only" banner and the crafting recipes. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 21:05, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

A few minutes later, the icons are back. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 21:12, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

Dragon, Titan, and Spectral armor pages

Is an admin able to add Item IDs (at Part 7) for these, since it’s protected? (Find them at the page) —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 23:19, 9 December 2017 (UTC)

I can edit them just fine, I am not blocked by any protection. Also, we do not know what their Item Ids are as we do not have the source code for Console, Mobile, or 3DS. – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) 23:32, 9 December 2017 (UTC)
Sorry, didn’t clarify I meant that their /Stats pages were protected (where the IDs go) —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 19:29, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
Only the Dragon armor's stat page was protected. I've edited it to be more consistent with the other two pages. – KM100 (talk) 22:12, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

    Terra Blade/Stats

This page needs its console-mobile icon to be converted to {{eicons|1.3.0.1|invert=y}} and its desktop icon to {{eicons|1.3.0.1}}. Are there any admins who can do this? Thanks for your help! —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 21:38, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Got it taken care of, thanks. – KM100 (talk) 22:12, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
    Thanks KM100! —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 02:52, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
Sorry to bother you again so quickly, but I made an edit to the Titan armor page and Spectral armor page; the IDs were misinterpereted, which wasn’t your fault in any way, it’s just that the Item IDs page is a little confusing. And finally, the Terra Blade/Stats page has categories, is this intentional? Thanks again! —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 02:57, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
The categories for the Terra Blade show on it's stats page because the infobox adds them - this is fine.
When the exclusive armor was first introduced, the ids given them by the devs were sequential beginning with #1867 (the Dragon Mask). Unfortunately, when mobile finally received the Christmas update (1.2.11212), the numbers needed to be re-assigned (Candy Cane has id #1867), so all the exclusives got re-numbered beginning with #5001. The devs were hoping desktop never went above id #5000. I am guessing at the timing of the re-numbering, but it does seem logical that they didn't renumber the items until they had to. I suppose we should add the re-numbering to the history section of those exclusives. – Ferretwings (talk) 06:42, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
I could be wrong. It seemed logical, but looking at the list is very confusing. – Ferretwings (talk) 06:49, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

Chaos Elemental and impending edit war

If the IP undoes my most recent edit at the Chaos Elemental page, are there any suggestions on how to proceed? —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 12:47, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

I've been watching them warily myself, as they had multiple low-value edits, even before trying to edit-war with a named regular. That said, the IP comes off as just a kid who doesn't quite "get the scene". So, I wouldn't want be be too harsh. Do the admins here think warnings on an IP page are worthwhile? Failing that... If I was an admin here (which I'm not), I might give a short ban to the IP (say 1-3 days) just to get their attention. If possible, without "account creation disabled", as them getting a name would be a step forward into the community. --MentalMouse42 (talk) 14:15, 14 December 2017 (UTC)
For use of Admins in case of any edit wars, I created {{Dispute}}. It should prove useful by showing that neither side is being endorsed and so encouragement can be given to reach a consensus. – ReedemtheD3ad! (talk) 18:28, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for creating that, looks great! —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟtalk」 17:27, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
Many editors have added similar trivia to the various Elemental pages, and it always gets reverted - simply saying "[this] is not an element" isn't exactly noteworthy :). Hopefully my trivia rewrite will appease all those editors. – Ferretwings (talk) 05:53, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
