Cobalt armor is a Hardmode armor set consisting of the Cobalt Breastplate and Cobalt Leggings, as well as three different headpieces: the Cobalt Helmet, Cobalt Mask, and Cobalt Hat, providing bonuses for the melee, ranged, and magic damage type respectively. Crafting a full set with one headpiece requires a total of 45 Cobalt Bars (135 Cobalt Ore). Crafting all five pieces requires a total of 65 Cobalt Bars (195 Cobalt Ore).

Its alternate ore counterpart is the Palladium armor.

Tips

  • None of the Cobalt armor's sets are direct upgrades of their pre-Hardmode predecessors. The Helmet and Mask versions have higher melee speed and ranged crit chance respectively, which may not be preferable to Molten and Necro armors' higher raw damage. The Hat version has 40 less mana and 2% more mana consumption in exchange for only +10% movement speed, compared to Jungle armor.

History

  • Desktop 1.4.4:
    • Defense of Cobalt Hat increased from 2 to 3.
    • Defense of Cobalt Helmet increased from 12 to 14.
    • Defense of Cobalt Mask increased from 4 to 5.
    • Defense of Cobalt Breastplate increased from 8 to 10.
  • Desktop 1.4.1:
    • Critical strike chance bonus of Cobalt Breastplate increased from 3% to 5%.
    • Defense of Cobalt Leggings increased from 7 to 8.
    • Cobalt Leggings now also grant +3% damage.
    • Defense of Cobalt Helmet increased from 11 to 12, movement speed bonus increased from 7% to 10%, and melee speed bonus (12%) changed into a melee damage bonus (15%).
    • Critical strike chance bonus of Cobalt Mask increased from 6% to 10%.
    • Cobalt Hat now also grants +10% magic damage.
  • Desktop 1.1: Re-introduced as a separate armor set for Hardmode.
  • Console 1.0.933.1: (Xbox One)
    • No longer used to craft Dragon, Titan, or Spectral armors.
