Enchanted Sword a Mob/Item?

It looks like the Enchanted Sword is an Item as well as a NPC/Mob? not sure what to do about this but just wanted to point it out. --— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kawauso1280 (talkcontribs)

Properly do something similar as done with Goldfish. --0icke0 (talk) 07:00, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

New Armor

Hey there. Any idea how we should rearrange the armor navigation? There are so many new armors that I kind of lost the overview. --SPGardebiter (talk) 15:10, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

For now just combine the different parts into single pages and add them to the armor template. If it becomes too messy (I'm not sure how many new armors there are) we may have to split them up in pre-hardmode and hardmode armors. --0icke0 (talk) 15:18, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

I want to congratulate you

You are doing an absolutely fabulous job organizing getting all the new stuff on the wiki. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know, but it seems that you guys have it well under control.-- Wynthyst File:Curseicon.png talk 16:08, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Seconded, you beat me to the punch several times over! Awesome job. ZirakErtan (talk) 16:28, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
I also want to thank you, as your page is a nice reference to names of all new objects. I am also trying to help with crimson related changes, but it is hard, as I did not edited much before. Dart0711 (talk) 18:22, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
Anyone wanting to help with the images can get a zip file of them here -- Wynthyst File:Curseicon.png talk 22:07, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
Think you can remove the crafting section from the autohammer page? I think it also needs to be added to the crafting stations template.--MIMP (talk) 17:54, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

Frozen Turtle Shell

Hey Icke c: The item http://terraria.gamepedia.com/Frozen_Turtle_Scale Is incorrectly named, and should actually be "Frozen Turtle Shell" (id 1253)

Any chance to get the site in a german translation?

Hey Icke,
I was thoughting about a german Terraria-wiki. There exist one in the internet, but this site is (sorry) crap.
I wanted a german wiki about Terraria for the german players too. And i hoped, it is technically feasible to
create a site belonging to the englisch site, to translate the content from this.
Of course I would participate there.
There is a German translation project going on with currently 139 translated pages. Although I have no idea how many active members it currently has. --0icke0 (talk) 08:26, 10 October 2013 (UTC)

Oh, it wasn't a bug?

I'm sorry about that. I was wondering though; it's not considered a bug if you find 3 of the same vanity items stuck in one slot? --Evetta (talk) 00:11, 11 October 2013 (UTC)Evetta

That type of item only drops from mobs. So if you say you found them it means you got them from a downloaded world/multiplayer server/mod/whatever. In that case it is the result of hacks/mods that the stack is this size and not a bug in the game. --0icke0 (talk) 08:36, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

Disabling page creation for unregistered users?

It seems like most of the vandalism has been done by the same person. He creates several pages that are slightly misspelled. Fills them with nonsense then when you ban him he changes IPs and does it again a few hours later. If possible I think it might be a good idea to maybe disable the creation of new pages for unregistered users for the time being. The time it takes to make an account might make him bored faster. --Moxxy

Tell that to that minecraft kid. he did this tothe starcraft wiki and cortex wiki. just... just fucking ban it! now!Robstar14 22:51, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Little question regarding your edit

Was just curious why you felt the need to remove one of my screenies on the Plantera's Bulb page, as it was related to the item and showed verification of multi bulb spawns. --Norek (talk) 14:53, 22 October 2013 (UTC)

Usually images are only added to pages it they add something to it. An image showing how it looks on the map or in the jungle may be useful. However a simple note stating that there can be multiple Plantera's Bulbs in a world (which is more or less already stated) holds the same amount of info. Besides most of the page existed (and still does) of images, so I though it would be better to remove one. But if you consider your image useful you can add a gallery section, such as done on the Mushroom Grass Seeds page, and add your image back in. --0icke0 (talk) 00:25, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

Pets on the Main Page?

There are alot more pets in Terraria than there were before 1.2, I think they deserve to be somewhere on the main page in the section "The Game" or "Game Mechanics"? --Remski0 (talk) 12:46, 27 October 2013 (UTC)

If you want you can propose changes to the main page here. --0icke0 (talk) 09:30, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Merge or separate console-only enemies

I noticed you put merge tags on all of the console/mobile-exclusive enemies, pointing to their PC variants (example: Albino Antlion). I personally think it would be confusing for a console user to search for an enemy, and instead find a line or two at the top of the PC enemy article. They do all have unique names (I believe), and some have different stats. For this reason I think they should have their own articles. What do you think? Sylarmorgan (talk) 20:46, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

We did the same for the PC enemies (Zombie, Demon Eye, Skeleton), so I see no problem to do the same for the Console enemies. --0icke0 (talk) 21:28, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
I'm not really sure which way you're leaning. If the enemy has a different name, sprite, stats, and is only on a console, shouldn't it exist distinct? If need be I can make a template to link the 'console' mobs to the 'pc' mobs and vice-versa. Sylarmorgan (talk) 21:45, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
The point is that enemies/items that are nearly the same (ai is the same, environment is the same, strategies to use against them are the same, ...) are better to be combined to prevent duplicating all information. (For example the Orca and Shark page are exactly the same.) So just like the Pincushion Zombie, Slimed Zombie and so on are redirects to the zombie page, listing them as variants of the same enemy and only being available on the pc, the console enemies can also be listed as a variant but only being available on console. --0icke0 (talk) 11:08, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Axe Power

Hello. I'm confused. Why in the source code written one Axe Power, but in the game and the wiki is other? For example, in source axe power of Lead Axe is 10%, but in game and wiki is 50%. Why? This difference I noticed only with axes. Alex Great talk 08:54, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

The axe power is multiplied by 5 both on this wiki and in the game. So if the source says axe power 10, and you play the game and hover with your mouse over the axe it will say axe power 50%. For that reason we also do this on the wiki. --0icke0 (talk) 11:30, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Item IDs of Gold, Platinum, Phasasebers and other items before 0

Hi, I would like to know where in the game (namely in the folder Contents/Images) stored objects whose ID is less than zero. From Platinum Bow to Gold Pickaxe. As their ID is less than zero and written in reverse order with a minus sign. Alex Great talk 06:34, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Those items use the same image as the iron version of them, and then simply change the color (the same way as dye and paint do). So you won't be able to find separate image files for them. --0icke0 (talk) 09:12, 30 November 2013 (UTC)
Ie for this reason, in the source code written a color value (for Gold Pickaxe):
this.color = new Color(210, 190, 0, 100);

With this, the game engine simply repaint the original iron object (Iron Pickaxe) with other stats. Right? Alex Great talk 12:35, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

Documentation templates

When you have the chance, could you look over what I have commented here? Thank you! User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 19:17, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

Hey, it looks good to me. I've updated the Dablink template to use the new Documentation template... Which is apparently the only template using the Doc template. Yeah, the back end of this wiki isn't great. Anyway, I've kept the Doc template for now, maybe I'll delete it in the future. --0icke0 (talk) 11:30, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Viewing game data?

Heya, I'm an avid Terraria player and Terraria Wiki editor! While this Wiki is quite good, it does (unfortunately) have a lack of references, and so I frequently wonder if written info is true or up-to-date. One example is the Mechanical Glove which - according to the notes - actually yields 12% damage despite the tooltip stating 10%. I'd like to check such stuff myself, and so I was wondering if you could tell me how to view the game's source code (if that's what you are referring to at your user page). For all I know it might be quite simple; I'm not too skilled when it comes to things like this. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 08:43, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

I'm using CodeReflect for this (which forces you to copy/paste relatively small parts of the code to another text editor if you want to properly read it, without crashing it). I've used the more user friendly ILSpy for this in the past, but since v1.2 it crashes for me (possibly due to using 4gb of memory for a 3.3mb application when decompiling). How easy it is to read? Properly depends on your experience with programming. A small example: If you search in the Items setDefault method you can find:
if (this.type == 936)
{
	this.name = "Mechanical Glove";
	this.width = 24;
	this.height = 24;
	this.accessory = true;
	this.rare = 6;
	this.toolTip = "Increases melee knockback";
	this.toolTip = "10% increased damage and melee speed";
	this.value = 300000;
}

And in the Player update method (when searching for 936) you can find:

if (this.armor[num61].type == 936)
{
	this.kbGlove = true;
	this.meleeSpeed = (this.meleeSpeed + 0.12);
	this.magicDamage = (this.magicDamage + 0.12);
	this.meleeDamage = (this.meleeDamage + 0.12);
	this.rangedDamage = (this.rangedDamage + 0.12);
}

--0icke0 (talk) 11:30, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for a quick reply! I'd say I understand the code (the 12% appears to be true), but unfortunately I know hardly anything of opening it, even with a tool like CodeReflect (thanks for suggesting it though!). To be frank, currently I'm even unsure of where item-data is stored. I do guess my hopes of it being "quite simple" were somewhat over the top..! Could you, if it can be conveyed in a relatively simple manner, briefly describe how you opened this? Do note that I have no intention of taking up nor wasting your time, so if you consider it all to be somewhat advanced or requiring a fair deal of basic programming knowledge, I'll stop my inquiry right here. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 14:23, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
You can open Terraria.exe (in your steam folder) with CodeReflect. After that you can browse the various parts of the game (such as items, NPCs, Player, Map, etc.) Next you can select a function to see the code. So if you want to see the item data you first open item and then the setDefaults method. --0icke0 (talk) 11:45, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Ah, I see - I imagined one would have to open something in the Content-folder. I managed to locate the data you pasted above, so it turns out it's not that hard after all... at least not with your guidance! You have my thanks! There is one last thing I am wondering; how did you search for '936'? I'd imagine CodeReflect would include a search feature, but so far I have found none. A solution I came up with is to copy-paste the code (which can take some time) into a text document and search for terms in it, but perhaps you've got a better alternative? NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 19:18, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
This is unfortunately indeed the only way. The more user friendly tools are payed only (or don't work anymore in case of ILSpy). --0icke0 (talk) 10:21, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
Then so be it. In retrospect I also see that this method is exactly what you referred to (your expression of "relatively small parts" confused me a bit; my perception can be abysmally low at times, urgh). But again, thanks for your help. Never again shall I wonder if an accessory's effect is off by a percent or more. If I could ever be of assistance to you in the future, do ask! NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 14:49, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Spam bots and articles

Hello, Happy New Year. Plz, help me with spammers on Russian Wiki. Add on filter (or write to me) some codelines that produce block of IP and/or failure of page creating when article has a 80-90% of Latin script (it's a easy way that Russian use a Cyrillic script). The large spam articles creates by Spammers, see this: ru:Служебная:Журналы/delete. Thanks. Alex Great talk 06:29, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Hey, I've little experience with creating filter rules. Maybe you can find some hints using the wikipedia abuse filter rules? Otherwise you should ask Wynthyst, he created most filter rules for this wiki. --0icke0 (talk) 11:45, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Thoughts about a page

I saw that this page was created today (January 2, 2014). I'm not sure if it should just be deleted because it could be useful but the name just does not fit in my opinion so I'm just asking you for your opinion what you think should happen with this page.

I'm thinking about moving it over to a namespace of "Guide:" with a different title.

Hope to hear your opinion when the time comes. Thanks! ;D User:Zdroid9770/Sig1 07:29, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

It is indeed properly better to move it to the guide namespace. Anyway, I'll wait for the editor to finish it and then decide what is best to do with it. --0icke0 (talk) 10:21, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Droprate of Frost Moon items

I am sorry to bother you again, but I was wondering if you could check the droprates of items dropped by the Ice Queen and Everscream (I am too inept to find the info myself). Though I am unsure of how many Frost Moons I've had a go at, I'm getting the impression the droprates of items like the Baby Grinch Mischief's Whistle and the Festive Wings are much higher than currently listed on Terraria Wiki. For the record, Wikia's Terraria Wiki do list higher numbers as well. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 12:30, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Fixed the drop rates. --0icke0 (talk) 13:31, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Lihzahrd and Lihzahrd Temple pages

Hello I am WelchDrew, I decided to move around the lihzahrd npc and biome pages to prevent disambiguation(I accidently put ambiguation instead of disambiguation in my edits) but the Lihzahrd link now leads to the NPC, whereas the Biome is now on the page Lihzahrd Temple and the Lihzahrd (NPC) is now a redirect to the Lihzahrd page. Can you change the Lihzahrd link under environments on the front page to Lihzahrd Temple? Its just to prevent disambiguation.

Thanks! -WelchDrew-

I'm sorry for creating the Pickswing wiki page because I knew you didn't want the skill after it was deleted. Also... why did you delete it?

--Crazymario233 (talk) 21:48, 20 February 2014 (UTC)

As it is fan fiction, rather then part of the game. Hence such things belong on the forum, rather than on this wiki. --0icke0 (talk) 11:59, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Version history revamp

Hello 0icke0! I want to know if you could leave an opinion or a suggest for the idea about revamping the Version history article. The idea about the revamp can be found here. This idea is to decrease the issues that NoseOfCthulhu mentioned. I would like to know your opinion and your permission if this would be great (which then I'll continue implementing this system if its okay). Thank you! Choosing Texture Variants

Hey, so here's a question I've been wondering about recently. There's a bunch of blocks and walls, like the Dungeon ones, for example, that have a ton of variance in their texture - the Pink Brick Wall being an especially good example. Do you know, or can you find out, how the game chooses which version of the texture to use any given time one of these is placed? I've noticed from my own gameplay that it doesn't seem truly random, or at least that once it makes a choice it sticks with that choice, but I'd love to know how it does that. Any ideas? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Crystallized (talkcontribs)

The pink brick wall seems to have 3 variants, which as far as I know are just picked at random. By saving the random variant it picked along with the other tile data (such as wall type, liquids present, etc) it prevents from picking a new variant every time. --0icke0 (talk) 09:20, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

Various stuff

Heya 0icke0! Thanks for deleting my user page, I wasn't quite sure what to do. Though I may create/fill it with something one day, I'd prefer to do that out of my own will; not as the result of vandalism. Other than that there's some stuff I was wondering if you could check, given you've got the time and energy.

  • The list on the Extractinator's article implies it can yield gold and platinum coins, though personally I've only seen copper and silver. I'm getting the impression that since it can yield those, people assume it can drop the others as well. Could you check the code to see if Silt/Slush actually can yield gold and platinum?
  • It was previously stated that the Celestial Stone did not stack with the Sun/Moon Stone. This was claimed to be wrong, and after testing the "recipe" for getting max defense I can confirm that at least the Defense stacks. Though I see no reason why the other stats wouldn't, could you still determine if they do?
  • Perhaps you could resolve this?
  • Does the Ghost monster actually spawn upon the death of other monsters? Though I've never seen it actually happen, it's easy to get the impression of it if there's lava nearby. If it is the case I guess the code should be similar to that of the Dungeon Spirit. Well, maybe not - as you know I'm no programmer.

Thanks in advance! NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 13:00, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

I've gotten gold and platinum coins from an extractinator before. Also, I believe I've heard something about fireflies and crescent moons before. That might be a good place to start investigating. Amdethe (talk) 15:37, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
The Extractinator does indeed drop gold and platinum coins (see talk page), but this is already included in the average amount of copper coins dropped. As far as I can see the bonuses of the Celestial Stone and Sun/Moon Stone do indeed stack. For the Fireflies: the spawn chance is random for each night, so some nights the spawn chance is very high, while other nights the spawn chance is very low. (Same for Butterflies actually.) This does not depend on anything. The Ghost monster does not spawn upon death, but just randomly like any other NPC. --0icke0 (talk) 10:00, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for your help! NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 17:30, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Unbanning potential good-faith IPs

I recently marked Diseaster Bunny for deletion - twice, if I remember correctly. The odd name and poor page constructions made me assume it was vandalism, and so I was surprised when it turned out to be genuine. Though it's a bit late by now I'm feeling some guilt for causing contributors to be banned, and so I was wondering if it's possible to un-ban them. As Recent Changes seemingly excludes the creation log of deleted pages it's tricky to determine the IPs, so I've compared the Deletion log with the Block log. If you deleted the pages and blocked the IPs on the same days, I guess the IPs would be 67.81.138.132 (no history, possibly due to article creation only) and 67.222.227.41 (at least he's playing on mobile). I know un-banning includes the risk of vandalism, but could you still do it for the sake of avoiding (further) injustice? I apologize for the trouble. NoseOfCthulhu (talk) 01:18, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

Both those IPs did indeed create the Diseaster Bunny page, however considering the content they placed on that page, as well as their other contributions, it was indeed vandalism. Hence there is no need to un-ban them. --0icke0 (talk) 09:57, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
