Buffs and Debuffs Section

I think we should make a new page containing all the buffs and debuffs that the game currently has and throw it on the main page. CrapTM 19:01, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Pinky & Chaos Ball

Can anyone remove Pinky and the Chaos Ball from the monsters list becouse of a slime article already being on the monsters list and the Chaos Ball isnt a monster

Featured Page/Did You Know Section

Would these 2 section propose any interest to any other Terraria Editors? The Featured Page Section could be a page to be shown on the front page, awhile the Did You Know Section could contain Trivia and other interesting information to be presented to users. --Reginald 00:46, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Currently, I don't think there is enough fully fleshed out articles to warrant a "Featured article" section. Also, these kinds of projects take huge time and commitment to maintain. With a game this new, and a wiki this new, I think we should hold off at least for awhile... maybe revisit the issue in 6 months. For example, present a fact the average Terraria player might not know, such as "Did you know... Underground Jungles are on the opposite side of a map to a Dungeon?" or, "Did you know... Your player can jump 12 feet high max without a Shiny Red Balloon?" --Reginald 23:11, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

A certain bot or a trusted Admin of the Wiki could be able to put it under a Category Box (such as the Items Box, Monsters box, etc.) and the bottom of the page, and every week or so, the bot/Admin could pick up 3 or 4 facts from a Special Talk Page that members of the Wiki can contribute. Also, under the facts, there could be in small italic font say "Submit a Fact!". --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Reginald (talk).

I love this concept of the "Did you know?" It'd work a lot better if there was a way to have a bunch and maybe update it every few days or if it could randomly change each refresh/visit. IKJames 15:48, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

Monsters section

Moved from Talk:Terraria Wiki Why not just put {{Monster}}? Use <noinclude> </noinclude> (or includeonly, cant remember) in that said article (to exclude its categories and any other things we don't want in the main page) and in the main page just put {{Monster}}. Goblin Scout, Undead Miner

Goblin Scout needs to be added to Rare Monsters, as it is not part of the Goblin Army. Also, is the Undead Miner supposed to be a rare monster? 04:40, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

So, what was wrong with the enemies box? I don't really see much of a difference. And I don't think that using both bullets and center align in the The Game box looks good at all. On that thought, why do we need to specify the bullets so exactly? --JonTheMon 03:35, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
Very minor, unfixable alignment issues compared to other sections, and when you tried to add a new enemy, the alignment would completely get ruined. This table that isn't as cluttered too, besides the custom bullets. I agree with the align center in the "The game" box, and I don't really care about it either, if anyone else doesn't like it, they are free to change it. For the exact bullets, first of all, there was a random margin of 2px in the original one and second, you can only use the */#/: characters at the beginning of lines. You can try the old bullets to see the difference. I had to specify bullets for "The game" exact because that (for neatness), and that there is a strange float left that doesn't work with align center. --NullTalk 03:46, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
Oh, and the links in "The game" can be switched around also, I kind of tried to avoid links in the sidebar. Crafting recipes definitely needs to be there and list of known bugs is a popular article, making it easier to access. --NullTalk 03:49, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Crafting recipies is not a guide, it doesn't belong with the rest of the guides. Also, why are you limiting the number of guides listed there? Please add any guides that are listed on the sidebar. This will expand the news section to allow more news entries at the same time, and is the way it was intended to work from the start. I've never noticed the very minor alignment issues, and if they are that minor, why not leave them in for simpler/smaller code? I personally don't see any change between the versions in the Enemies box. I do see a change in The Game box when viewing it in IE; the bullets are tiny points. --JonTheMon 13:17, 2 September 2011 (UTC)
  • Well, for starter, the html is incorrect. If you are going to use explicit html ul instead of mediawiki bullets, at least close your li. Also, what are those (unclosed) dd tags doing in there?
  • My browser (FF 3.6) doesn't support "border-radius". It is perfectly fine to add "border-radius" for browsers that support it, it is another to remove the compatibility tags of "-moz-border-radius" and ""-webkit-border-radius" for those that don't.
  • I prefer align left for "The Game"

Listing of game mechanics

I added a bunch of missing game mechanics to this page's list in a recent edit. But I just realized that Category:Game_mechanics has still more mechanics not listed here, such as e.g. 'Breath meter', 'Critical hit', etc. Should every mechanic be listed here? Is there some threshold a mechanic should satisfy in terms of significance? If there was, I might have unknowingly trampled on it :/ --Chibs84 10:28, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

About boss exclusive monsters

I kinda feel the boss exclusive monsters don't belong in the list among the regular monsters. I'm talking about mobs like the Servant of Cthulhu, Leech and the Probe. Isn't there a better way to list them? Or is it even necessary to list them on the front page? They are kinda part of the bosses after all. --ShadowTani 17:22, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

I agree with this. Also, should we call them enemies, monsters, or mobs? Or something else? Creature like birds, bunnies, and goldfish aren't really enemies. Could we maybe divide the monsters section into more categories? EDIT: Alternately, we could go with fewer categories. Simply have "creatures" and "bosses." A thought I have is to simply divide them into five Categories:
  • Passive-Birds, goldfish, bunnies. NPCs might be considered as well.
  • Minor-Special mobs that spawn during special events.
  • Medium-Mobs that are found in all other enviroments.
  • Dangerous-Mobs that are found in Hardmode, Hallow, Hell and Dungeons.
  • Summons-Any event, boss, or mini-boss that can be summoned or be considered a mini-boss.

  • Passive makes sense as a category.
  • I'm not sure what you mean by minor mobs; Meteor heads? Harpies? Servant of Cthulhu? Goblin Archers?
  • Medium is a bit broad. I'd rather just leave it an unlabeled category.
  • Dangerous mobs are about half of them by that standard. I don't really like it because it's very subjective. In full Hallow a Hellbat is only marginally more dangerous than a goldfish; and doesn't the Jungle come after the Dungeon? I'd just as soon see it merged with Medium.
  • Summons - I think we threw out the "mini-boss" idea and just left it as "bosses" and "events". King Slime is a full boss now according to most of the wiki. But I do like this:

To answer your question about the Minor catergory, yes, it is all the little mobs that spawn out of different mobs. That includes the Hungry, Leeches, Blue slime spawned from King Slime, Goblin Scout which is not considered to be part of the Goblin Army itself, Servant of Cthulhu, Meteor Heads, and slimelings that spawn from large slimes.--Linkraft 23:00, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Console Version History Link?

I have been working on a Console Version History page to list changes to the console version of Terraria and was wondering if there should be a link on the main page for it? It's still a very early WIP, but maybe when more info is added to it, there could be a link for people who want to easily find the latest changes to the console version.

I do not believe this massive change is beneficial to the wiki in any way. Removing direct links to the content from the main page will simply drive users away as it makes it that much more difficult to find what they are looking for. I'm not a fan of removing all the links either. But I do thing there is a need to redesign the front page. Currently the enemy section lists all the enemies, which will be a problem when version 1.2 comes out and another 50-100 enemies are added. --0icke0 (talk) 10:24, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

New Main Page

With the 1.2 update coming I think it is needed to change the main page, more specifically the enemy section. If just like the normal items the amount of enemies also doubles this will become too large. Therefore I think it will be useful to remove all console specific enemies (except Ocram), as they are nearly the same as the PC enemies. To make sure they are still easily accessible the PC enemy pages should be updated with the console enemy as a variant of the PC enemy, like the Hornet page currently. A similar thing can be done with other pages that refer to the same type of enemy. This is for example already done with Slimes, Bats, Hornet, Jellyfish and Eater of Souls, but not yet with Light/Dark/Normal Mummy, or the hardmode Slimes (Illuminant Slime, Toxic Sludge, Slimer, Corrupt Slime) and Bats (Giant/Illuminant Bat and Slimer).

If there are really a lot of new enemies added (which most likely will be the case) more links can be removed, such as enemies that are summoned by bosses (Servant of Cthulhu/Ocram, Leech, Probe), because most people will go to the boss pages instead. Also enemies which are no real enemies (Bird, Goldfish and Bunny) may be removed. I don't think many people will follow the link for the Bird page for example. Last of all the Dungeon Guardian may be included on the Skeletron page (just like there is no separate page for Skeletron Prime in his 'berserk' mode).

I've done those changes in this revision, along with combining the Modifier and Reforge link (which link to the same page), and removing the Mana and Health link, which are already included in the Player Stats link. This results in a considerably more compact enemy section, allowing for additional enemies. However if there are a lot of pre-hardmode enemies added, compared to hardmode enemies this won't work very will. An alternative may be to do it like this revision (couldn't get the formatting completely correct, so the spacing for the right most column is a bit off). This would work well if we end up with about twice as many pre-hardmode enemies as hardmode enemies (and may allow to add links for Brid/Bunny/Goldfish back to the common enemy list. Also consider that (according to the spoilers) 5 new bosses, likely multiple/many rare enemies and at least one event will be added. This may result in uneven columns in the first revision, however it may also result in a too long column in the second revision.

Although the final decision will most likely be made when version 1.2 is released, I though it would be a good idea to share this now, so everyone can comment on those ideas. enemies

I believe that enemies tab of the main page should have hyperlinks to prehardmode enemies and hardmode enemies to lessen the confusion it might have given players as when I saw it I was wondering why this is confusing, do I need hardmode for this one or is it already obtainable please if anyelse thinks this is a good idea then say something about it thankyou,

from a fellow terraria player who has a bright mind.

Easier Accesibility

In the latest version section there should be an icon (perhaps a flame or an Amazon logo), and text with the latest version of Kindle Fire HD because it is hard to differentiate which icon includes Kindle.

Rare enemies

There are currently more than 20 rare enemies that can be deteted by the Lifeform Analyzer. Do we list them all, or just a sampling? – Ferretwings (talk) 17:46, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

I think that enemies that are more "common" enemies should be added to the list, as in, NPCs you wouldn't have to go through bosses and stuff to encounter. My only addition to the list currently would be the Gold Bunny, because we don't have any golden NPCs on the front page. 4e696e6a6f795844 (talk) 01:49, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Mini biomes

I don't see all mini-biomes getting added to the main page. Main page links are intended as general starting points, not necessarily complete lists. Small areas like Oasis and Marble caves don't really qualify as important to the game's overall framework, and main page real-estate is limited, as the volume of links there are already slightly overwhelming. I notice there's a lot of empty space on the current editcopy Biomes section. If you do end up adding mini-biomes, perhaps to avoid the unused space, you could add them under a heading like how Events is separated into 'Pre-Hardmode' and 'Hardmode'.
What I actually wanted to suggest though, is to just include a link for 'Mini-Biomes' among the list of Biomes. The link would take users to the Mini-Biome section of the Biomes page. This way anyone visiting the main page to look up info on a mini-biome will see to click that when they can't find a link for 'Graveyard' for example, and people visiting the wiki to learn about the game won't be mislead about the variety and number of biomes after looking at the homepage. Re-ordering the events list

I feel like we should re-order both the prehardmode event list and the hardmode event list to better fit the order they would most likely be encountered in a regular playthrough. Like for example, it is extremely unlikely for the solar eclipse to be the last event fought/encountered in a standard playthrough, and both seasonal moons are usually fought back-to-back. Actually, the events are ordered alphabetically, because in contrast to bosses, the progression is not nearly as straightforward (due to randomly occurring events, for instance, or the overall "optional" nature of events) and varies much more from player to player. An alphabetical ordering prevents conflict about the "right" order and ensures neutrality. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 22:44, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
