Hello. I am a long time player of Terraria Desktop, and I have much experience with it. I would love to be added as an editor so I can help update the wiki with new and changed items and features from the 1.4 update. I have already been working on updating the upcoming features with new information, and I would be glad to continue to quickly bring out accurate update information. Hi, I'd like to be added to the editors list. I've been helping around the wiki recently creating item pages, copyediting, and reporting vandalism. I play Desktop and have basic familiarity with the source code, so I can pull up information about item functionality, vendor sales, etc without too much trouble. On the wikicode side, I've learned how to use a good number of the standard templates+infoboxes and I'm hoping to pick up more through practice. You can check my contributions page to see where I've helped out, or contact me in the Discord under the same username. Cheers! Breathlessblizzard (talk) 22:38, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello! I'd like to be added to the editors list. I mostly play mobile, but can readily test pretty much anything on the Console version (latest version, Xbox One), and will sometimes be able to test some Desktop things. I'll hopefully be able to be editing a lot more actively, and am currently working to achieve consistency, especially with the flood of 1.4 articles. Thanks for your consideration! —ϟAwesome_Diamondsϟ「talk」 17:57, 21 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi! I'd like to be added to the editor's list. I have (what I'd like to think) an extensive knowledge of most Terraria Desktop version mechanics, as well as features and content. I've joined pretty recently in order to help with 1.4 content additions, and I helped to start adding happiness quotes for the happiness quotes project to most NPCs, as well as preparing to start the DPS project (to find the average DPS of weapons). Thank you for reading, no hard feelings if I don't make it. DanZeMan (talk) 12:49, 3 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello, my name is Trialsphere, I am constant player of the game and have over 340 hours on Nintendo Switch. I know the game mechanics well, tend to recognize glitches fairly quickly when they pop up, and know most of the tips or tricks a player might need. I would love to be added as an editor so I can help add information that might have been missed on pages and help the terraria community as much as I can. I thank you for your time and consideration. I would like to be added to the editor's list. I have a switch so I can make contributions to the wiki based on switch related info, and I have good hours to check what needs to be done. Also, one more thing I have to say is that I visit pages often to see what needs to be updated or to see if anyone has vandalized it, and report it or change it. Otherwise I just want to help keep the wiki running smoothly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Triplefun1 (talk • contribs) at 19:32, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

Hello, I'd like to be added to the editor's list. I have recently added content for the 1.4 update during its release on the old Fandom Wiki, and now have been adding info to wiki pages for 1.4.4. I have extensive knowledge of the game, been playing for the better part of 8 years, starting on Xbox 360 and now own the game on 4 platforms. I mainly edit pages with discoveries I make during gameplay. I'd love to help growing the wiki to make it more informative to newer and experienced players. Love to hear back! Hey, SonicCee here, recently I've been using the wiki a lot because I found my old 3DS, you can guess what game I played first. So as the most likely soul Terraria 3DS player I'd be happy to report glitches and such and edit some 3DS articles... ... you know, if you let me to — Preceding unsigned comment added by SonicCee (talk • contribs) at 20:05, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
Numbers connected to templates show up as 0 on mobile devices
I don't know if this is the correct place, but numbers that appear with the templates "iteminfo" and "equipinfo" are showing up as blank values on my phone, but render correctly on my laptop. Could this be fixed? Persent101 (talk) 22:52, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

Old-Gen and 3DS are history. Can we PLEASE treat them that way?
Something's been bothering me every time I visit the wiki. Visit a page, and there's a good chance it will be utterly slathered with unhelpful and downright misleading information from an 8-year-old discontinued version of the game. Pages are lined with cryptic icons that make no sense to the casual wiki-goer. Weapon stat boxes and crafting pages are filled with an eye-straining and unreadable hodgepodge of icons and numbers.
This is, of course, because of the Old-gen console and
versions of the game. For reference, these versions are:
- 3DS Version- last updated 8 years ago. No longer available to download.
- Wii U Version- last updated 8 years ago. No longer available to download.
- PSVITA Version- last updated 8 years ago. No longer available to download.
- XBOX 360 Version- last updated 8 years ago. Starting this summer, will no longer be available to download.
- PS3 Version- last updated 8 years ago. Can still be downloaded on the legacy store (wow!)
How come these old and archaic console versions get to occupy SO MUCH real estate on every page? Here's some examples:
- Exhibit A. I counted 152 icons in this infobox alone.
- Exhibit B. Over half the page is filled with legacy crafting recipes.
- Exhibit C. Confused players are a common sight.
A wiki should, of course, be informative. I'm not suggesting running through every page and stripping all legacy information. But the wiki should also be concise. We have a HISTORY section for a reason. It's for HISTORY, and it's tucked nicely at the bottom of the page where it won't mislead or confuse hapless wiki-goers.
You could make the case that "well, what if a player is stuck with an old-gen console? where will they get information?". This is an argument that's inconsistent with even itself. Why do some versions get this treatment, and some don't? My old tablet has Terraria and is also too old to get updates. Should we go and add the "Unavailable on Old Gen iPad 1.03233" header to every single page?
No, we shouldn't. Because not every individual historical version needs its data listed on the main section. Go look at the Minecraft Wiki, and see how they handle historical versions. Here's a hint; they don't have their Minecraft 3DS information on full-frontal display.
This is an active wiki. This is still a game that is played actively. Players come here to use the wiki on a daily basis, and I'll harbor a guess that they AREN'T looking for information on the 8-year-old discontinued versions of Terraria. So, PLEASE, make the wiki concise and readable again. Cut down on the icon clutter. Cut down on the verbal spaghetti. Put the current versions on the current pages, and the legacy versions on the legacy pages.
I'm not on the Discord server, so my apologies if this has already been discussed there. I hope something is able to change.
There are also two options discussed above. They're good ideas too. Have a look at them. Thank you. --KM100 (talk) 20:13, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- Maybe we can put all legacy info into a "Legacy" or "Old" section for each page and make it is collapsed by default? Or we can make a "legacy" tempalte to collapse legacy info. --Westgrass (talk) 15:39, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
- I've been thinking about going a step further and moving that content to a separate namespace (something like "Legacy:Hallowed armor"). I think that would make things easier on the technical side ("never store to cargo in this namespace" being one of many examples) and I guess splitting content into multiple pages is always beneficial for performance as well. I quite like the boxes that Wikipedia uses (like for the link to Wikiquote here: Terraria#External links), perhaps we could add similar boxes at the top of the History sections for linking to the other namespace (quick mock-up: User:Rye Greenwood/Sandbox16#History). This does mean that the old-gen info will always be another click away, but I suppose there's no way around that with any of the possible solutions (outside of an entire separate, dedicated wiki). --Rye Greenwood (talk) 23:47, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
- The new Legacy NS soluction is a bit unfriendly for old-gen console and/or 3ds exclusived items/npcs, since they will not have a page entity in main NS. Other than that, the rest of it is great. --Westgrass (talk) 02:26, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- I don't quite follow; wouldn't that be solved by just creating mainspace redirects to those exclusive pages in the new namespace? Or is it a different issue that you see? --Rye Greenwood (talk) 11:28, 11 March 2024 (UTC)

- For now, I'd agree with separate namespaces. I made a quick mockup of a collapsable menu, and it's a bit unwieldy. An old-gen console user would have to scroll down to see what's exclusive to old-gen (like appearance), and scroll back up to see what's not exclusive (like method of obtaining). The menu makes it cleaner for modern users, but it's not very helpful to old-gen users. --KM100 (talk) 05:48, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- This is exactly how I envisioned the presentation. The content in the box can be loaded from a seperated page in another NS. --Westgrass (talk) 07:45, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- I share your opinion that it's not that user-friendly to have only all the differences in a separate location. What I had in mind was actually having all of the info separated, so essentially like two wikis. For instance, the page about Hallowed armor in the other namespace (
Legacy:Hallowed armor
,Old:Hallowed armor
,Old-gen:Hallowed armor
, ...) would be complete and analogous to the normal version, just without the modern-specific content; something like this: User:Rye Greenwood/Sandbox8.--Rye Greenwood (talk) 01:52, 17 March 2024 (UTC)- Duplication of same parts is harmful to SEO. SEO become even more important now due to the existence of the "old wiki". A banner at the beginning say "Some information on this page does not apply to old-gen/3ds versions, for differences in those versions, see here(link to legacy info page)" and a back link to main page on legacy info page should be enough. --Westgrass (talk) 14:41, 19 March 2024 (UTC)

- Of course, a new wiki would be ideal, but I do have worries about the maintainability of such a place. Even back in 2016, the Mobile and Console sections of the wiki were notoriously understaffed. It's a small audience, and it'll just keep getting smaller. At least for a while, separate namespaces would keep the content in a more cohesive bundle, reduce the strain of duplicate information, and still also keep it under one roof. Plus, if there's a push for a new wiki in the future, it'd be make it easier to migrate than the current wiki situation is. --KM100 (talk) 05:48, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- In my opinion, the best way to avoid such reading confusion and the excess of icons on pages would be to have two tabulations for Current (Desktop, Console, Mobile, "Switch") and Old versions (3DS, Old-gen) at the top of every page that would filter out what content is displayed. I don't know what would be the best to properly load the Old version page maybe by storing it on another subpage to save resources.
- I'm thinking of it as a global variable, such as how Template:Lang is handled all over wikis, the selected version would be kept through sessions and accounts. All templates/modules could be concerned, that way, histories, recipes, infoboxes, and anything else could be accurate.
- However, I'm aware it's a tedious task. Dinoxel (talk) 21:32, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
- Split content into two pages for "main" and "legacy" will be much better for SEO. The spiders of search engine do not know how to use those tabs. 2 separate pages will be much clearer for search engine. --Westgrass (talk) 16:07, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- Not an active editor, but I'm in support of splitting out legacy content into a namespace. Each relevant page could have a noticeable box linking the regular & legacy pages. Then, legacy pages should get their own navboxes, so that the reader doesn't keep getting returned to non-legacy pages. Ondar111 (talk) 23:00, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

Should Wings and Hooks get unique pages?
I've been thinking about this ever since the change to fish was made, to give them each a unique page, I was wondering if the same should be done to each wing and hook item. As it stands, only a select few on each have dedicated pages. This does work, but it feels rather uncomprehensive and makes specific info less easy to access, while making trivia, tips, and unique mechanics specific to each item obscured. Are spider weapons/armor good?
Is the spider weapons/armor good? I personally love them, the staffs are a big help even in hardmode. The spiders cling onto enemies and dont let go until they die, The spider queen staff isnt as great as the normal spiders, she can often miss with her ranged attacks and dissapears easily. but if you have the spider armor AND spider staff, low defense, HIGH damage but i only wear the breastplate and leggings, i wear hollowed helm. overall, i think its pretty good but keep other weapons on you. what do you think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Valiente (talk • contribs) at 18:07, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
Defeating the twins:
For short version go to the bottom While defeating the twins, there is two eyes, One red, one green, Retinazer and Spazmatism, is what their called. If its your first time, have a friend or someone else to help you. Prepare a open landscape to jump/fly/run around in to avoid them. Both of them shoot lazers from their eyes, i suggest a RANGED weapon to beat them. If you go in close you will get a lot of damage done to your HP. i personally would use the SPIDER STAFF (((please look at it with the wiki the spider staff summons 1 spider (((when not wearing spider armor and the spider grabs onto the enemy and damages it until it dies/leaves. if you wear spider armor + use the staff, the minion count and damage is increased but the armor has low defense. Overall a strong ranged weapon is good to use when fighting the twins.. at half HP they charge like the eye of cuthulu and they shoot their lazers more faster. i suggest that you work on ONE EYE AT A TIME. if you focus on both of them it will take too long. using a cannon would be a risky but effective mood as i THINK it does 300 damage with each hit? ((unsure So, overall what you need to defeat them: 1. a large vast area to fight them in with lots of room. 2. a powerful ranged weapon because close combat is very risky. 3. a friend to distract 1 eye. 4. focus on ONE EYE AT A TIME. For more information search The Twins at the wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Valiente (talk • contribs) at 18:18, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

Can you please make the content area back to the full screen design it used to be? The old item stack sizes should be added back, next to the current item stack sizes, with a specification of which versions have the old item stack size.
The almost complete removal of old item stack size information from item pages is pretty problematic for if you're playing an old version. Terraman2 (talk) 02:20, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
Page on official Merchandize?
Been thinking about this since there's pages like Crossover content, Terraria Collector's Edition, and Steam items. There's not really any comprehensive info on former and current Terraria products, and I feel this would be a good out of game info page to add. Things like the figurines, the guidebooks, toys, etc any collectible that's liscenced. I feel this could be a good page to link to some other pages that have supporting info relating to merch such as Pigron's trivia section. Kirby Baker (talk) 23:12, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
- I don't see why not, as long as it's a neutral, encyclopedia-like description! I created a bare-bones Terraria Store page to start. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 03:52, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'll chip away at some of the listed entries as I have time. I think the hardest part of this is going to be info on former content that isn't produced/sold anymore, information on older Terraria stuff is sparse. Kirby Baker (talk) 07:47, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
Chlorophyte extractinator recipes should be moved to the very bottom of the recipe cargo table

There should be a glitches page, that can contain information about any glitches that are confirmed to exist.
The Terraria wiki is supposed to be comprehensive, so it doesn't make sense for there to be 1 specific important aspect of Terraria where most information about it is forcibly completely excluded, & it really shouldn't be like that. Terraman2 (talk) 01:55, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'm curious, what confirmed important glitches do you have in mind that are excluded? --Rye Greenwood (talk) 01:38, 16 May 2024 (UTC)
- I changed my mind, I don't think the rules should be changed at all. There was also a specific change that I thought should be made that I that's unavoidably against the rules, but then I realized that the best change to make would be a different 1 that happens to not be against the rules, due to only mentioning the general concept of Terraria glitches rather than any specific glitch, & also only mentioning it briefly & in a case where if it's not mentioned the page ends up being misinformative. Terraman2 (talk) 00:10, 21 May 2024 (UTC)

Changing Achievement redirects to the respective anchor on Achievements page instead of other pages' achievement section
Currently achievement pages are redirected to related pages' achievement section. I don't think this is the best solution for the redirects. The achievement sections do not include detailed descriptions of achievement, and the main topic of the page which the user is redirected to is usually not achievement.
Also there is some inconsistency about the links. Links with the same name usually link to the same page, however this is not the case for achievements. For example, searching Timber!! or regular links (Timber!!) redirect the user to Trees#Achievements, but the blue link Timber!! in the section is linked to achievements.
I suggest that we make the redirect links consistent with similar redirects, like the Bottomless Water Bucket, redirecting user to the respective anchor on the related page. The current issue is {{toggleBox}} used on the achievements page prevents the redirect from working if the anchor is inside the collapsed table. Is there a way to make the table automatically expand when the user is directed to an anchor within it? BadPiggy1024 (talk) 10:18, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

Dragon Mask and Titan Helmet old-gen console crafting recipes
I was looking at the things that can be crafted from Souls of Blight at the guide on my Xbox 360, and I noticed that the Dragon Mask needed a Titanium Helmet to craft and that the Titan Helmet needed a Titanium Mask to craft. I don't know how to change the recipes displayed by {{recipes}} so can someone change the recipes? MeowMeow123 (talk) 20:36, 1 July 2024 (UTC)
- All recipes are stored in central locations, on
Recipes/<crafting station>/register
pages, e.g. Recipes/Hardmode Anvil/register. You can find all of them at Category:Data templates under "R". In this case, it's a legacy platform, so the page is Legacy:Recipes/Hardmode Anvil/register. In the source code of the page is the information for all legacy recipes that are crafted at a Hardmode Anvil, such as the Dragon Mask. The code (from line 410) looks like this:
-->{{recipes/register | result = Dragon Mask | resultid = 5001 / 1867 | amount = 1 | station = Mythril Anvil | Hallowed Mask#i:old | 1 | Cobalt Helmet#i:old | 1 | Mythril Helmet#i:old | 1 | Adamantite Helmet/Titanium Mask#i:old | 1 | Soul of Blight | 15 | version = old-gen }}<!--
- The
| result
line defines the result item, the| station
line the crafting station, then below that are the ingredients. The#i:old
after some of the item names indicates that the "old" item image should be used (e.g. File:Hallowed Mask (old).png instead of File:Hallowed Mask.png). The| 1
at the end is the amount of the respective ingredient that is needed, 1 Hallowed Mask, for instance. - I changed the Titanium Mask ingredient to Titanium Helmet in the Dragon Mask recipe. Feel free to go ahead and make the change for the Titan Helmet, if you like. Don't worry if something breaks, simply undo it. Remember that a purge may be needed before the updated recipe is shown.

About mobile chinese version

- (Why should them be added? It's Mobile Chinese version. 1.It is only published in Mainland China, and is not directly available in app stores in other regions. 2. Even if the game is somehow downloaded, it is not playable as a Chinese identification card is required. I don't think there is a proper reason to add these links on non-Chinese wikis.) BadPiggy1024 (talk) 12:04, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
As an official version, China Mobile is limited to Chinese Mainland, but it is critical to the integrity of Wiki. Wiki should document its features and legitimate purchasing channels. Secondly, providing links about the China Mobile version aims to provide a direct and convenient access path for players interested in specific versions of the Chinese market, and the links themselves are biased and selective. Can help them quickly find and understand this version, and reduce purchasing difficulties caused by incomplete or misleading information. Non-Chinese players usually do not visit Chinese wikis, and due to the lack of information in English wikis, their searches may enter the wrong webpage, which may result in a certain loss of energy and economic losses. As for identity verification, it is not within our scope of consideration. If you need an example, you can see how non-Chinese players enter the NetEase version of MC. Even if there are firewall, there will always be people coming.Qgonly (talk) 20:11, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
Consolidation of Version Icons?
I don't know if this is a hot take or my sentiment is shared, but to me the "(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)" looks ugly. It has annoyed me for years on end, would the moderators be open to changing it to a single icon when all three are represented? Maybe a little Moon Lord icon could represent those 3 platforms at once, since version 1.3 is sort of where these 2 "groups" diverge, or perhaps a Zenith, whichever the community thinks is more iconic. I'm not artistically inclined enough to present an icon, sadly, or I would do so. Sir Mop (talk) 20:43, 9 October 2024 (UTC)
- I agree, and i'd actually take it even further by removing said denotation from all 1.3.0.1+ content in general. Old-Gen Console and 3DS are no longer supported, very obviously outdated, and very few people even play them anymore as far as i know, so i feel for the most part, the only content that should be denoted as being exclusive to a platform is Old-Gen/3DS exclusive content (Ocram, Lepus, etc.). The only time i think the Desktop/Console/Mobile denotations should be used is when a new content update comes to PC (making said content temporarily Desktop-exclusive) and the Mobile and Console developers have to catch up. I think maybe the platform icons should be changed to have opaque outlines.
Pixel art generally has opaque outlines, so it's weird that they have transparent outlines. They also might look better with opaque outlines, & the not-smooth look caused by the opaque outlines probably wouldn't really be a problem because there are already a lot of Terraria sprites mixed into the text & those generally have opaque outlines. But remember, I only said maybe. I'm not sure. Terraman2 (talk) 18:06, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
- But if the outlines are made opaque, then the phone platform icon outline probably should be changed to be dark like the desktop & console platform icons. & it probably should be even if the outlines aren't made opaque. Terraman2 (talk) 18:15, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
Terraria Discord Server Bot for Ban Appeals Issue/Error.
So this is off topic. But I am not able to message the bot due to the fact my old account got banned and is now a deleted user. And so I no longer have the Bot in dms. Can someone help me appeal the ban on my current account by messaging me? If Yes; My current Discord username is; interact_with_care_please
If No; Then please ignore this post.
"Bases" guide wiki page outdated information
Hi, on the Guide to Bases wiki page, the guide still mentions that the Steampunker sells the Teleporter, but since 1.4.4, that is no longer the case, as the Mechanic sells it now. (edit: specifically in the "appearance" section)

Someone's been uploading this "Christmas_Goat_5" image on loads of pages on the wiki
The image is of a man standing next to a goat carcass with a stab wound in its neck. The man is holding a bloody knife, which was presumably used to stab the goat. The image is seemingly always accompanied by an antisemitic statement. I don't know if there's some good way to report this, as I am new to the wiki. If anyone could help me out here, I'd appreciate it. ThatGuyWhoLikesCats (talk) 17:31, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
- It's fixed now! If the image persists, please purge your cache ("More" button beside the Search bar)2k7x (talk) 17:39, 15 December 2024 (UTC)
Compromised page, potentially more
Currently the Water Strider page for the wiki has an addition that is DEFINITELY unwanted, located at the bottom of the page. In fact, I just checked, the entire wiki page has been raided by nazis. Just opening the main page and scrolling down you can see all the images on the right are replaced... edit: seems it was dealt with!
Bonus drops on each slime's article
I was thinking it might be helpful to include slimes' bonus drops in their drop lists and, by extension, the drops database. That would also make them show up in {{drop infobox}}es. I tested it out at Blue Slime; see e.g. Bomb or Copper Ore for the {{drop infobox}}. Is this useful, should we do it for all slimes that have bonus drops? Or is it unnecessary/duplicate/too much clutter/...? --Rye Greenwood (talk) 21:02, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- I think it looks good! I can't think of any additional feedback, and the fact it links to the bonus drop section of the slimes page helps remove confusion. Can't say I'd change it and I think these changes should be applied to the other pages. Kirby Baker (talk) 23:16, 17 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, I'll add it to the rest of the articles then. --Rye Greenwood (talk) 06:45, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
