Brief: Loot, Treasure, etc. A comprehensive list of items obtained from chests (later crates, pots, (maybe goodie bags, presents, and herb bags, I haven't decided.)). Completed: Surface chest, Gold(Underground).
A number of chests are generated on world creation in random locations.
The size of the world affects the number of generated chests (the larger the map, the more chests generated).
Each of these chests contains various loot that the player can take and place in their own inventory.
The contents of chests are determined when the world is first generated, and will not change if the world enters Hardmode.
The loot for any given chest is determined by the location in which it is found.
Each chest contains a single "rare item" and an assortment of randomly chosen common items.
As each chest is generated, the rare item is first placed in the chest, then each "set" of common items is checked to see whether or not it will be added. If a set is chosen to be added, a single item from the list is added to the chest.
Chest descriptions
Ordinary Chests (normally, brown wooden chests) occur naturally on the Surface (above 0 depth). Wooden chests will also generate in the Dungeon.
Gold Chests are found in the Underground, Cavern, Underground Jungle, and in the Dungeon. Gold Chests found in the Dungeon require one Golden Key each to open.
Underground
- The Extractinator has a lower spawn chance than other rare items, at 5%.
- If a chest contains a Flare Gun, it also contains Flares.
- The Bars it contains will depend on the ore types available in the current world.
