Christmas

Christmas is a seasonal event that occurs from December to around early January. During Christmas, Presents have a 1/13 (7.69%) chance of being dropped by any enemy (except for statue-spawned enemies, Meteor Heads, and Old One's Army enemies).[1] Hearts are also replaced with Candy Canes, and Stars are replaced with Sugar Plums. Additionally, several enemies wear costumes that change their appearance, and a few unique items become available for purchase from NPCs.
During Hardmode, one of the items a Present can contain is the Snow Globe, which summons the Frost Legion. Defeating the Frost Legion allows the Santa Claus NPC to spawn, if valid housing is available, but only during the Christmas season.
The duration of the event is from December 15th – December 31st.
Reaching wave 15 of the Frost Moon before 4:30 AM displays the status message "The spirit of Christmas spreads cheer..." at the dawn of the following day, causing the Christmas season to temporarily become active for one in-game day, regardless of the date. At 4:30 AM the next day, the status message "The spirit of Christmas fades..." appears, and all Christmas-related effects will no longer occur unless the Christmas season is active or the 15th wave of the Frost Moon is achieved again.[2]

Tips
- Christmas can be "activated" by setting the device's date to any date within the respective Christmas timespan.
Change the computer's date to any day between December 15th and 31st.
Disconnect from
Xbox Live /
PSN and change the console time.
Disconnect from automatic date/time updates and change the time manually. Note that this does not work for some devices.
Go to "System Settings" and go to "System", click on "Date and Time", turn off "Synchronize Clock via Internet" and set the time there.
- If a change of the device's time is undesired, applications like "RunAsDate" allow launching Terraria with a changed time and date.
