All four placed magic droppers.

Magic Droppers are Hardmode items used to place "droplets" — dripping liquid effects on ceilings. Once placed, they permanently display an intermittent dripping effect. The effect is purely visual, and has no functional use. Magic Droppers are crafted with an Empty Dropper at Water, Lava, Honey, or with any Sand, with the Crystal Ball nearby.

Magic Droppers can be placed at the bottom side of a block, consuming the item in the process. Droplets can be removed by mining them with a pickaxe, but doing so will not drop any item.

Droplets are also naturally generated in random areas on world generation. They spawn below ceilings that have their corresponding liquid above them, as though that liquid were "leaking through". Natural droplets can be mined just like the player-placed version, and similarly drip indefinitely until removed by a player.

"Dripping Lava" displayed on the map.

Magic Lava Dropper Dripping Lava
Magic Honey Dropper Dripping Honey
Magic Sand Dropper Sand Flow
  • Droplets fall at random speeds.
  • Lava droplets do not damage players.
  • Only lava droplets emit light.
  • Block-swapping a block with droplets beneath them will not destroy the droplet tile.
