Enchanted Moondial
- Internal Item ID: 5381 (Desktop, Console and Mobile versions)
- Internal Tile ID: 663
The Enchanted Moondial is a furniture item that can be placed. It can be triggered by the ⚷ Open / Activate key or wires, doing so will advance time to dusk (7:30 PM) on the current or following day (depending on whether it is activated during day or night). It has a 7-day cooldown period, so once used, it will not be usable again until 7 in-game days have passed (see Notes for details). When the Enchanted Moondial is ready to be used, the dial at the top of its sprite and the moon in the middle will both glow bright blue, and the shape of the glowing moon in the middle corresponds to the current moon phase. The Enchanted Moondial is obtained by throwing an Enchanted Sundial into Shimmer.
The Enchanted Moondial does not turn the time to dusk immediately. It instead "fast-forwards" time, causing it to pass 60 times faster than usual (1 hour of in-game time, which would usually take 1 minute of real-life time, takes only 1 second while the Enchanted Moondial is active). When the Enchanted Moondial is taking effect, the effect of other time-accelerating methods (beds and the Journey Mode Time Menu) will be ignored. However, unlike these methods, the Enchanted Moondial does not increase the tile update rate in the world, meaning that things like plant growth and biome spread are unaffected when it is active.[1]

Notes
- Technically, the Enchanted Moondial's cooldown is set to 8 days right after activation, and is reduced by 1 day at 7:30 PM each day.[2] This means that:
- Since the Enchanted Moondial accelerates time to 7:30 PM the following day, this cooldown is reduced to 7 days after its effect ends.
- The cooldown can be sped up by time-accelerating methods.
- Additionally:
- The cooldown will be instantly reset if a Blood Moon or Solar Eclipse occurs naturally.
- The Enchanted Moondial's 7-day cooldown is shared between all Enchanted Moondials in the current world, so a second Enchanted Moondial cannot be used to circumvent it.
- The Enchanted Moondial's cooldown timer is separate from the Enchanted Sundial's cooldown timer, so using one does not affect the other.
- In multiplayer, the Enchanted Moondial will only count a cooldown day passing if there are players online at 7:30 PM.
- Since the Enchanted Moondial accelerates the time, the following time-dependent things are also affected:
- The following things will not happen during Enchanted Moondial's time acceleration:[3]
- The glowing effect when the Enchanted Moondial is ready to be used gives off faint blue light, but it does not count as a light source for housing.
- The Enchanted Sundial and Enchanted Moondial end the time acceleration effect after reaching dawn (4:30 AM) and dusk (7:30 PM), respectively. With this in mind, one can know how the time will be advanced if these items are both activated. For example:
- Activate both at 11:00 AM, time will be advanced to 4:30 AM the following day.
- Activate both at 11:00 PM, time will be advanced to 7:30 PM the following day.
- Activate Enchanted Sundial at 11:00 AM, then activate Enchanted Moondial after 7:30 PM (9:30 PM for example), time will be advanced to 7:30 PM the following day.
