Coal is an item with no use. It can drop from Presents obtained during the Christmas seasonal event, with a chance of 1/30 (3.33%) in pre-Hardmode and 7/225 (3.11%) in Hardmode. It also has a 1/3 (33.33%) chance to be dropped from Jungle Mimics, which only spawn in Celebration Mk 10 and Zenith worlds.
It is the only item in the game that cannot be stacked.
Tips
- Use to fill slots in containers to avoid automatic collection from retrieving more items from your personal inventory (e.g. Keeping some wood or stone.)
Trivia
- In a now-humorous tradition, parents in Western countries would classically threaten to give only coal to children as their Christmas gifts if they misbehaved, hence this item dropping from Presents, along with its tooltip.
