The Spider Egg is a Hardmode, post-Plantera pet-summoning item that spawns a Pet Spider to follow the player around. The Pet Spider climbs on background walls and has similar behavior to the Spider AI. When the player is far enough away or in midair, the Pet Spider rides on a white spiderweb, as if it were standing on a wall, to keep up with the player. The Spider Egg is dropped by the Pumpking during the Pumpkin Moon event with a 2.5–12.5% (6.25–12.5%) chance depending on the current wave.[1]

Notes

  • If the Pet Spider follows the player to an area with fences nearby, the Spider will rapidly hop from the fences to the ground, causing a flickering effect.
  • The Pet Spider greatly resembles a miniature version of the Wall Creeper. If a red Dye is used on the Spider Egg, the spider resembles a Blood Crawler.
