The Tongue

The Tongue is a debuff inflicted by the Wall of Flesh when the player has the Horrified debuff and one of the following happens:

  • The player gets behind the Wall of Flesh.
  • The player attempts to leave the Underworld.

When afflicted with this debuff, the Wall of Flesh draws in the player with a tendril at a base speed of 56 mph, ignoring blocks in the way. In Expert Mode, the debuff also causes the player to take 50 damage per second. If the euclidean distance between the player and Wall of Flesh is more than 187.5 tiles when the debuff is inflicted, the player will die instantly instead of being drawn to the Wall of Flesh.

History

  • Desktop 1.4.4: The debuff's pull speed now scales with the Wall of Flesh's speed in Expert/Master Mode, to prevent the boss from moving faster than it pulls the player in at the end of the fight.
