The Wizard set is an armor set consisting of one of the magic headgear and one of the magic robes. The robe can be any of the seven gem robes, crafted using a Robe and gems, or the Mystic Robe, bought from the Traveling Merchant. Magic headgear can be either the Wizard Hat, which is dropped by Tim, or the Magic Hat, which is occasionally sold by the Traveling Merchant. Any leg-slot equipment can be worn without affecting the set bonus.

  • With Magic HatMagic Hat: Increases maximum mana by 60
  • With Wizard HatWizard Hat: 10% increased magic critical strike chance

Tips

  • This armor set is very easy to obtain at the beginning of the game: The Diamonds for the Diamond Robe can be easily obtained with a Extractinator and some Silt and Slush, and Tim spawns much more frequently while wearing it, making the Wizard Hat much easier to obtain.
  • The Mystic Robe and Wizard Hat combination is considered the strongest pre-Hardmode armor for magic users not interested in defense, as their offensive stats greatly surpass those of both Jungle and Meteor armor. Since the set only contains two pieces, another piece of armor from other armor sets can be worn in the leggings slot, further increasing the bonus.

Trivia

  • The Wizard set is one of two armor sets in the game that comes in two pieces, the other one being the Rain armor.
